"AK" is the postal code for Alaska, not Arkansas. I think you mean "AR Senate Votes..."

Most people going to planned parenthood aren`t going for an abortion. A lot are going to get some form of birth control so they don`t get an unwanted pregnancy that requires an abortion.

Planned Parenthood prevents way more abortions than it carries out.

According to Womens Issues abortion is only 3% of Planned Parenthoods budget. 35% is contraception and 38% STD testing/education. 14% Cancer screening. Has everyone jumped on the Cancer bandwagon? Do the tests and get guv`ment funding.

I like a lot about America, but this kind of thing is one area where Canada has it over you guys: issues like abortion, guns, and religion in schools are handled at the federal level, and you don`t get neanderthal provinces (if we have any) restricting abortion, allowing gun sales to psychos, or requiring creation to be taught in biology.

They use abortion as the as the trigger, but people like this don`t care for any of it--contraception, STD prevention. They want "promiscuous" people to get VD, "loose" females to get pregnant, the worst case scenario, basically. Because they "deserve" what they get, for their wicked ways. It`s their religion that drives them to do stupid, counter-productive crap like this. I live in California (supposed to be so very lefty & free-spirited) & we have TONS of jerks like this. I`m not changing the world, but I have been fighting/demonstrating for Planned Parenthood since I was a teenager. And the fight goes on...

Because that innocent unborn life will either end up on a dumpster, be raised by parents who did not want it, or be given for adoption shortly after it`s born. Or, you can abort it before it has a will of it`s own. Will it know? Nope. Will it feel fear? Nope. Will it feel pain? Nope. Is it even conscious? Nope. So how is it different than a vegetable? It isn`t.

"Most people going to planned parenthood aren`t going for an abortion."

Au contraire, PP did a record 333,964 abortions last year and abortions generated $155.5 million for them over and above the $538.5 million they get from the government. Their total income was $1.2 billion in 2012.

In short, They don`t need government support at all. In fact, they should be taxed because they advocate and lobby politically.

If you say churches should be taxed if their preachers advocate from the pulpit, then PP should loose it`s NPO status and be taxed and treated as the FOR PROFIT business that it really is.

Planned Parenthood advocate and lobbies publicly for the causes that are important to them, women`s choice, women`s health, etc. That is like green peace lobbying for environmental issues or the salvation army lobbying for poverty issues. Tons of non profits lobby for their cause.

If churches were lobbying for freedom of religion I would march right along side them. What I have a problem with is when they start talking about guns or gay rights or any other causes that are not their fight or telling their parishioners who to vote for. That is the line in my opinion.

HG: "What I have a problem with is when they start talking about guns or gay rights or any other causes that are not their fight"

Who are you to be telling them what is or isn`t "their fight"?

Sorry, but NPOs that get government dollars shouldn`t then be allowed to use that money to lobby or contribute to political campaigns or issues advocacy. That`s straight up cronyism and patronage, it shouldn`t be tolerated.

Churches have a special right under the 1st amendment and government can`t restrict their speech or what a church advocates for or against.
