All I heard from the very moment that Obama was nominated was Obama is going to take our guns, Obama is going to take our guns, Obama is going to take our guns. Maybe the Democrats in charge just got sick of hearing it for four years and said `Maybe we should`. Same things happened with gay marriage. There was a huge push from the right to use gay marriage to get votes. Well look where that got them. Gay marriage never would have happened so fast if conservatives hadn`t pushed so hard.

Conservative leadership - the self-fulfilling prophecy experts.

I`m glad to see someone else understands what`s really important. Having a gun in your hand is much more important than the other silly rights like life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

    Bravo good sir! Bravo!

I wouldn`t go as far as saying `having a gun in your hand is much more important than blah blah blah life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness`, rather it is as important.

The most important right you have is speech. Why the uproar over background checks? Why do you need an Uzi and 100 round clip? The munitions magnates own congress and we, the people are merely tools to their enrichment.

    Loaded right-wing political partisan description

    Original title of article:
Five sad pictures from today`s anti-NRA March

Statements from the author of said article:
I swung by the Stop the NRA March this afternoon to watch the protest and march against gun violence.

A generous estimation of the crowd size would have been about 100 people, including members of the media.

I would say that 5Cats captured the essence of the message that the Left-wing author, who also participated in the march was trying to convey.

I think that guns are great.
If I ever kill myself I`m going to want to use a shotgun to the head because that method has a success rate of 99%; the highest achievement out of nearly all popular methods of suicide.
Aside from this, it`s also about 70%less painful than the second most effective popular method of suicide; arsenic.
I mean, c`mon, everyone should know that suicide by firearms has a much higher annual death toll than homicides, accidents and justifiable incidences of self-defense. I support this fully; the suicidal have a right to a swift, humane death.

Anyway, flippancy aside, I don`t think that the NRA is the problem. While they may have had some colourfully outspoken members or branches, their pursuits in spreading awareness for gun safety has been adequate in a world (that for reasons beyond my understanding) must have guns.

Davymid - I can concede that 5cats is wacky right, but you are just as ridiculous to the left.
I call B.S. on your batting average.
    Firstly...batting average is not a percentage, it`s a ratio.
Secondly...there is nearly an equal number of liberal and conservative posts here at IAB. If you are saying you are 100% perfect at spotting a 5cats post before looking to see who posted, you are a liar. Liar liar, filthy european pants on fire.

Thanks @MrPeabody! It reminded me of that rally in Washington where the left claimed to out-attend the "right wing" rally. Only they didn`t. AND they left a huge mess behind! The "right wingers" picked up their own trash & left the Washington Mall spotless :-)

Not if the "bad guy" trying to take your life also has a gun and is a better shot than you. Statistically speaking, there is a 50% chance that you are a below-average shot with a gun so the odds are not in your favor.

Most bad guys prey on the weak, therefore having a gun in the first place is a deterrent. Any bad guy with a gun is a better shot than you if you do not have a gun. If the bad guy does not know you have a gun, then you have the upper hand. If the bad guy knows you don`t have a gun then you are fkkkkd.

So the best case scenario is to at least meet the bad guy with equal force.

But if he has a gun, and you don`t, there`s a 100% chance that he`s a better shot than you. I`ll take 50:50 over 100:0 odds any day.

@handimanner The 2nd amendment is the only thing that guarantees all the others. What good is the 1st amendment if the government tells us all to STFU, and we`re powerless to do anything about it?

If Americans didn`t have access to guns, the bad guy wouldn`t have a gun to start with. The % of gun related crimes is higher in America just because you sell them to start with.

Here is a example that you might get.
It`s like changing cars to tank. If the bad guy has a tank you should have one too to protect yourself. Solution: Don`t sell freaking tanks.

If we`re talking purely about how well I shoot, my odds are very much in my favor.

darkhawk-"If Americans didn`t have access to guns, the bad guy wouldn`t have a gun to start with."

Where do you get that asanine idea? Do you think the guns a magical objects that only a few businesses know how to make? Guns are a very simple technology and easily manufactured in any halfway appointed garage.

    darkhawk-"Don`t sell freaking tanks."

Except for the fact that it is actually very possible to buy a tank.

@darkhawk: People Can Legally Own Tanks! in many countries, not just the USA...

@panzerlinus: You`re MOST likely to be robbed by someone with a knife. If you have a GUN? You win! Most of us are terrible at "knife fighting"...

    ...except @WhoDat ;-) and a few others.

In MOST cases where a gun is used in self defense (in the USA)? It isn`t fired. Just show the gun and the crook(s) run away. 80+% iirc...
