BAN criminals owning guns..... oh wait, I forgot, criminals don`t care what laws you make, they are just happy you are making crimes easier and safer for THEM !!

In her defense, the time it takes to reload the gun creates a pretty defenseless moment for the shooter. Anyone who plays FPS games might agree. :)

Seriously, the logic is that by banning gun magazines people will not be able to read about guns and will forget they exist.

Higher capacity gun magazines contain more information on guns so they must go first.

    Am I doing this right?

What an idiot! And now her staff is claiming she "misspoke"? She meant to say "clips". LOLZ! Clips OR magazines can both be reloaded!

She`s the "Poster Child" for the Gun-Grabber movement!

When the tape continues, the Sherriff on her left makes several valid, ANTI-Gun control points: Average cop response time is 45 minutes outside of Denver, "high capacity" mags are rarely used in mass killings, why 15? Why that "magic number"? Why not be HONEST and immediately CONFISCATE ALL "high capacity" mags if they`re so very dangerous?

Because honesty has NO PLACE in the "gun control" doctrine.

Also: Obama Gets The Facts Wrong, Again. but as usual he`ll get a "free pass" from the MSM...

You dumb rednecks just WANT the government to come crashing through your door so you have the excuse to shoot somebody. You`re all paranoid and power hungry. Nobody needs a gun to protect themselves. Look at England. Just tell the bad guy to go away if he wants to nix your stuff or rape your woman. Studies show that you`re more likely to shoot yourself than a robber or the robber will just take your gun and use it against YOU. What will it take for you to realize that the children are dying and YOU`RE responsible because YOU just have to have your guns because you have a small penis. ;-)

Yes, what she said was dumb. But remember, Michelle Bachmann is on the science committee so you don`t have to be remotely knowledgable about a subject to be on a committee in our gov.

I think what this shows is that it`s very sad that the pro-gun people are so intractable and won`t consider ANY reasonable suggestions, like background checks. If they would work WITH congress maybe some reasonable gun safety measures could be agreed on and everyone would feel okay with it.

"People wanting to make laws on things they know nothing about."

That`s pretty much everything congress votes on. Do you think any of them understand healthcare, science, economics, etc.? They vote based on what their money donors tell them to think and they don`t bother to research any further.

At least Biden had meetings with everyone with an interest in the gun issue to gather all sides, even though the NRA people obviously weren`t there to cooperate in any way.

"In her defense, the time it takes to reload the gun creates a pretty defenseless moment for the shooter."

Not if the shooter knows what he`s doing. I can drop an empty mag, slap a new one in there, chamber the first round all in less that 2 seconds while staying on target. I can thank the Marine Corps for that because I`m sure it helped keep me alive at least once. If it`s going to take longer to change a magazine due to a jam you keep your head down and make sure you`re not a target before attempting to clear the jam and/or reload. You have to be smart about it, if you leave yourself vulnerable out in the open then you`re an idiot and deserve to get hit.

Have to agree with the comment that the people making laws are the ones who know the least about the subject. You´d think that they should at least require some form of background knowledge or experience in matters they´re expected to decide on for the people who voted them into office.

how about we let the ATF do their jobs. let them do a couple of studies that show just what types of guns are used most in illegal situations and get them off the shelves. or at least let them be funded and not legislated into nonexistence. another idea would be to add a higher tax on guns and ammo. im tired of hearing about how we need to raise taxes on gas, booze, and cigs to help pay for the roads, schools and paychecks for the government workers. people want to buy guns like they are going out of style, why not reap that pony and maby if people get tired of paying twice the amount for ammo/guns it might act as a sort of gun control. just spit-balling here. but sad to say this would never happen since the people in control of making these types of changes are either being bought by pro-gun lobbyists or are on the same board as them. sad the country has already sold out to this point.

let them do a couple of studies that show just what types of guns are used most in illegal situations and get them off the shelves.
@jops360: It is well know exactly what sort of guns are used in "illegal situations". HANDGUNS! Pistols or revolvers, the VAST majority of the crimes involve one of those. BUT do any of the proposed "safety laws" address this? NOPE! They aim (see what I did there?) at "assault weapons" which in fact are NOT assault weapons AT ALL! And that TYPE of gun is used in a TINY % of all gun crimes.

So: The "gun laws" only go after legally owned, not often used in crime guns.
Which makes America safer! Because... um, because...

add a higher tax on guns and ammo.
Great idea! Then only the RICH could buy them and be able to defend themselves and the POOR would live in terror!

    a@jops360: FBI Database
There`s literally TONS of data here, waiting to be mined!
    For example: Murders in Alabama:
    Total:199 Firearms:135 Handguns:112 Rifles:0 Shotguns:23 Unknown Firearms:0 Knives:23 Other:24 Hands/Feet:17

Handguns in Alabama: 56% of all murders, 83% of all firearm murders... Yup! I`d call that a "vast majority".

Racial Breakdowns As Well! And age, gender & et.

Blacks killed more people than Whites, but only make up 17% of the US population? Interesting...

paperduck is correct. For the idiots among us it`s just too scary to realize that life is not guaranteed. It`s scary to realize that the government will not protect you or the ones you love...and the thought of being responsible for your own safety is scary. But...maybe, just possibly...if we keep giving up our rights someday the world will become a government run paradise. We can start by focusing on the insanely small minority of people who have died in mass shootings involving "assault rifles" (which aren`t actually assault rifles) because emotional idiots feel that murder is ok as long as it`s done one person at a time. When more than one person dies at the same time their death is WAY more tragic than if they die separate. That is the only logical reason why they focus on these weapons.

dromed - how does that compare to what i am saying. they already over tax gas, liqueur and tobacco. what i am saying is to cut those taxes and replace the income with a tax on firearms and ammo. seems like a good idea. first, the government wont want to limit the sale because they would make money off of it. second, it would actually help people since gas, liqueur and cigs would cost less. these items are bought by far more people than ammo/guns, it would allow normal people to save a little more back instead of spending it at the pump and it might actually stop people from buying guns/ammo. you are just mad because you dont want anything to happen to your precious guns. any simple legislation to limit the crazy peoples ability to obtain them, let alone, any thought of even looking into just how bad the situation actually is, is just to much. no one is going to take away your ability to protect your family, they are just trying to starve off some of the more drastic ways of doing it.

5kats/paperduck - you are correct handguns should also be in the ban since they do near all of the killings. also the government does help provent deaths. they have proven this with things like the seat-belt laws, the alcohol limit, and other laws. so whats so wrong with this law? whats so wrong with taking away guns that have only one purpose of existence(killing people). call asault weapons whatever you want, they are designed for war. they were made to kill people very efficiently. rarely does anyone actually use them for hunting. they are bought for two things, showing off and murder. they can easily be obtained by anyone, without a background check and they need to be taken away. simple legislation is all they want yet it is just to hard for you to swallow.

we are not trying to save ALL life. there will always be death and murders. the whole idea here is to LIMIT it. if we use your guys notion why dont we stop giving out DWI`s. how about not making sure pilots or doctors have appropriate licenses? people die everyday in the hospital, in their cars and on airplanes right. why limit their freedoms, oh i know, because it hurts those that are around them. they are not trying to take away ALL guns. you can still buy shotguns, rifles, and handguns. they are just trying to stop the sale of firearms that are easily turned into fully-automatic killing machines. i know it wont stop the killing but it is at least a start. there will always be someone who will find a way to get around it, be it a handmade gun or holding multiple guns, but thats where the police come in. remember this, its not just your freedoms, its others as well. others want to know that one of these gun nuts doesnt go overboard because of fox news and start shooting up the block.

    had to space it out
the treaty you mention has nothing to do with the 2nd amendment. it is to stop INTERNATIONAL sales of weapons. the president cannot ban ALL guns. this is just a scare tactic the right threw out to make people scared. just like the one about obama not being american. this is nothing but another way you guys are trying to scare people into thinking like you do. shame on you for pushing this pile of trash.

Wow, just wow! Were you paid by the gun lobbyists to show how mad the anti-gun people were?

This woman doesn`t know the difference between a magazine and a bullet, yet she presumes to legislate on them, and you go off like a madman spouting all kinds of inconsistencies, and with terrible grammar and punctuation.

Your rant reads like a conspiracy theorist.

    Wow!
