@djwajda: You mean Italy wasn`t formed until 1948? (That`s where @piperfawn`s from, eh?) Or were you talking about North Korea...
something inside tells me that a more surgical `beheading` of it`s leadership...
Actually, that`s against a long standing international agreement. Not that others haven`t violated it, but it`s REALLY frowned upon to even SUGGEST assassination of a nation`s leader.

The Commanding General in the First Gulf War got FIRED for that...
something inside tells me that a more surgical `beheading` of it`s leadership would not only be more effective but the right thing to do.

Afterwards a reunification would be in order, and that is where the real challenge will be.
Sounds good in theory, but the reality is that it will simply leave a power vacuum for another party to fill. There is no guarantee they`ll be open to the prospect of reunification. Instead we should do like Nixon did with Mao. Short of welcoming the nation in with open arms we`ll have our friends bolster their militaries while we withdraw ours.

Squrlz: I have no doubts that the US military has the ability to flatten NK and make it look like a cratered smoking pancake.

However, as a Christian, knowing that most NK citizens are poor deluded deceived pawns, something inside tells me that a more surgical `beheading` of it`s leadership would not only be more effective but the right thing to do.

Afterwards a reunification would be in order, and that is where the real challenge will be. NK defectors have faced a lot of challenges, reunified NK citizens will be so depressed that without a lot of re-education there will be a high suicide rate and I`m afraid former NK citizens will be treated like second class citizens.

We didn`t do well rehabilitating post-Saddam Iraq, we need to really think through and plan for how to deal with a post-Kim North Korea.

I still think NKorea wants a war to kill off their excess population. Death Camps are so unpopular but war will always be in business.

@El_Chinche - I know, I`m just having a little fun with him. I always taught to help those who are less fortunate so if giving him the attention made his week then that`s my good deed for the week!

I think ObiWan said it best when he said this little one isn`t worth the effort. Just gotta ignore the trash and it`s all good.

Don`t worry, I`m sure they`re already watching you. It`s not a "freedom of speech" issue either, a threat is a threat. If you actually are dumb enough to think it actually is freedom of speech (which I wouldn`t doubt) go get on a plane and crack a few jokes about having a bomb. Then, when you have your day in court, tell the judge you have the right to free speech and let me know how that works out for you.

Must have hit a nerve. Still, for some people it can ease their pain by doing their duty. Not that it will stop freedom of speech though, but it might might help ease the pain.

For some people, the truth is hard to hear. Especially when it deals with things to do with their nation when they`ve been force fed this twisted view of how perfect their nation is.. Sad really. Very sad.

Veneziano, middle first row and Romano back 3 rows 2nd from the left. Veneziano is the lovable pasta eating surrender monkey and Romano is the grumpy pasta eating surrender monkey.

Don`t take that the wrong way, the characters are made so that you can chuckle at them, facepalm at them and love them ferociously all at the same time. :-)

"Could we bear in mind that there are a hell of a lot of real people in NK and they are not in on this silly willy-wagging the Plump Leader has been advised to engage in."

That is actually one of the problems that getting rid of Kim Jong-Cartman would make. All of the North Koreans, aside from those who are still infants up to a few years old will be completely lost. They`ve been force fed this twisted view of the world outside of NK and I`m sure they all truly believe what the gov`t tells them. It would be like a kid who`s raised by wolves trying to integrate himself into normal society. That would be a total nightmare for mental health workers.

I love the F-22, you gotta love a plane that is so powerful it has to have governors put on it to avoid ripping the pilot limb from limb with pure G-force. Must be one hell of a ride.

@QueenZira: I used to love that show.

I am generally a peace-loving squirrel. But to give you an idea how tired I am of Kim Jong-Cartman (nod to Whodat), this is what I have been thinking about lately.

We have 20 B-2 Spirits (aka, Stealth Bombers) in active service, each capable of dropping 80 500-lb GPS-guided bombs. If we kept six of them in reserve and flew the remaining 14 of them into NK on the occasion of the next new moon, these virtually invisible bombers could rain down bombs on 1,120 distinct military targets, with near simultaneous detonations, before Kim Jong-Cartman knew what hit him.

I`m not saying we should. I`m just saying that lately, I`ve been enjoying thinking about it.

Piper, there are legitimate, meritorious critiques to be made about the way we do things, I should know I do that all the time. But then there is unmeritorious criticism just for the sake of criticism, lets try more of the former and less of the latter, ok?

@ferdyfred - Every day I lean more & more toward hoping Kim Jong-Cartman is stupid enough to attack. At this point I would love to see NK turned into a crater, I`m getting tired of hearing about him.

The only thing that has kept N Korea from conquering S Korea is the US military stationed on it`s border. How come we never get credit for preventing that for the last 60 years? But no one ever let`s us forget Hiroshima.

Geez!

Escalating? No.

They sent two F-22`s to Osan Air Base, a fully functioning US Air Force base that has been there since 1952, to take part in an exercise that the US & South Korean military conduct annually.

It`s not like we don`t have a military presence there at all and are building up for a fight. I love how they post/print articles like this and don`t mention important details like that. It`s like they`re intentionally trying to hype up the situation and make "news" out of it.
