I`d guess that 80 out of the 100 Senators "got money from..." ANY group you care to name!

"In thrall of gun money" ACK! More "Purple Prose" from the left!

$1,000? Are they JOKING? They really believe a $1K donation will BUY A VOTE? Is this "The Onion"?

"The NRA has also tightened the screws on senators"
    Painful Purple Prose Persists!!

Gun Grabbers lobbied & donated too, the report mentions, but THAT is A-OK! F-Dat.

Utter Fail: They offer NO account of "gun money" sent to those who voted FOR the Bill. They IMPLY they didn`t get any, but I`d wager they sure enough DID.

...has given $800,000 to 40 of the senators who voted against the amendment since 1990...

Do the math: This article actually believes that $1,000 per year donations BUY A SENATOR!

They generate MILLIONS in donations over a 22 year span, but that $1K from the NRA? OWNS THEM!

    800,000 / (40x20) = 1,000 per year. TEH HORROR!

"All but 3"no" Senators received pro-gun cash"
    And your point is?

Of course they take campaign donations. Do you think the lobby would give money to senators that vote against their lobby? DUH

The other two "NO" votes WANT pro-gun money for their next election.

I`m confused. Are people upset over this because they think the donations "bought the vote" (as in, the GOP senators were going to vote the other way but were persuaded not to), or, because they accepted donations?

If you think this "bought the vote", I think you are terribly misinformed regarding the GOP stance and voting record concerning gun control. If you`re concerned that the took donations, then we should also discuss all the donations taken by senators.

Also, a side note, why no love for Rand Paul:

Only three senators who voted against the measure have not declared any donations from gun lobbyists... and Republican Rand Paul ... Rand Paul was recently found to have close family ties to the National Association for Gun Rights.
FFS Harry Reid took donations from the NRA during his 2010 reelection bid! I`m not a huge fan of Rand Paul, but c`mon - be fair.

90% of Americans were FOR mandatory background checks, so that 10% must have been pretty loud.

Anyone who is shocked, concerned, or even the slightest bit surprised to hear news like this has ALOT to learn about American politics.

Politicians spend millions of dollars campaigning for a job that pays thousands. Why do you think they would do that?

FoolsPrussia- It`s an odd coincidence that I, and everybody I know, weren`t ever polled about background checks, and therefore by default, fall into that 10% you speak of.

Riiiiight.... because Democrat lawmakers are the epitome of integrity! Money for votes has been going since people figured out the voting thing; doesn`t make it right, but this sure ain`t shocking. Did you ever think that maybe Republican lawmakers come from areas where people may not be in favor of the en masse gun control legislation? Maybe if you pared it back a bit lefties, and actually came up with something that would actually keep guns and weapons of of th hands of people like the Boston Marathon bombers, then you`ll more support.

    Again I repeat myself:

90% Support the "idea" of background checks. There is ALREADY such a system in place for many things! The Bill presented by Feinstein, Biden & Obama does NOT enjoy 90% of the public`s support.

This article is utterly useless: how many Senators who voted "Yes" got money from the SAME groups? Unless that number is also revealed? It is entirely IRRELEVANT how many "No" voters got it.

    Why do cops carry guns?
Because there are bad people out there who will try to hurt them.
    Why can`t we have guns?
The same bad people would hurt us before hurting a cop.

@lauriloo: ""you CANNOT LEGALLY take our guns"

what part of the bill says that?"

Who said anything about the bill saying that? No one. What @paco664 was referring to was that little passage that reads "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.", y`know, the second amendment.
