Another crazy one was from the Gold Rush era in California. No Asians were legally allowed to own any land or property. I guess that one stuck around for a while and wasn`t officially taken off the books till the 80s. No one payed attention to it, but no one got it off right away either.

#44: "Doors in public building in Florida must open outwards." There`s a very good reason why this stipulation is part of virtually every state building code (not just Florida): In an emergency, such as a theater fire, when the occupants panic and rush to the doors, you want the doors to open with the pressure of the bodies, and not be sealed shut because of it. It`s an important building code that was developed in the wake of countless Victorian era tragedies. (I know this because my Dad`s an engineer. Thanks, Dad.)

@lukeforv123 I can top that. It is illegal to hunt Nebraska. Also I don`t know the state, but I heard that in this particular state it is illegal to store your ice cream cone in your back pocket.

Okay, d*ckface: 100 years ago, one of the original uses for x-ray machine was shoe sizing.
Many shoe salesmen were sickened and died from over exposure.

It wasn`t even ten years ago people were trying to sell the idea of required ID chips.

I helped a friend build a deck on the back of his home. Having a permit from his township, he discovered the HA had to approve his deck.
He protested by adding a hot tub.

You see, what you see as a crazy law was probably put in place to counteract some equal crazy trend of behavior having to do with self entertainment versus public annoyance.

It`s legal to kill a Scotsman in the English city of York. As long as he`s carrying a bow and arrow.

I think it`s funny that he said `stupefication` when the word showing was `stupefaction`.
Also, the silly laws were chuckle-worthy.
