Why does it need to be changed? Are police not citizens? If people don`t have "high" capacity magazines, why would law enforcement have a need for them? Oh, is it because criminals would still have "high" capacity magazines because they don`t follow laws?

Can you stop posting a flawed argument? Why have laws, lawbreakers will just break them?

Because now, even the police are no match for the gang members with high capacity magazines.

"Can you stop posting a flawed argument? Why have laws, lawbreakers will just break them?"

That`s not flawed. They are creating a new law, but know it will not have any effect on it`s targeted population. Most other laws, when followed, protect the law abiding from the non-law abiding. This does the opposite. It is protecting the non-law abiding from the law abiding, and the law makers know it.

"Why does it need to be changed?"

It needs to be changed because in NY State a standard issue 9mm Glock that`s issued to the majority of police officers comes with a 15 round magazine. The new NY State laws ban ALL high capacity magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds. The problem being that every cop brings their department issued gun home with them from work, they don`t leave in their lockers or anything like that. So as it`s currently written, the second they`re off the clock they`d technically be breaking the law by having a semi-automatic handgun with a high capacity magazine.

Oh yeah, and in the video they say the ban is on magazines that hold over 7 rounds, but that applies to magazines purchased after the law takes effect. People who own 10 round magazine, like your truly, are allowed to keep them but if you load more than 7 rounds it`s illegal. That`s the dumbest f*cking thing I`ve ever heard, hahaha!

Yet another gun control law that has no chance of controlling gun violence.
YEAH! Politicians doing what they do best - nothing.
And yet, they even manage to mess up doing that.

But if you are going to exempt people who used to be cops, why not exempt people who used to be in the military? They`ve been trained on the safe use of weapons. :-) Just a thought.

"...why not exempt people who used to be in the military?"

Agreed! When I was going through the concealed carry process I asked about that and of course, no one had an answer. Being a Veteran and the fact that I had cross trained to be a radio operator in the USMC I had a Secret (Level II) security clearance so my application did go through much faster than normal.

7 bullets? yeah because tell me about how those planning to use guns to break the law care about abiding by the law for 7 bullets. hell i say its fair to limit cops to 7 bullet mags. do they really need more to shoot people up?

and wtf could be the possible reason for exempting retired cops? they dont need high capacity mags anymore than a regular cizilian

I see no problems for the cops there, provided they can refrain from shooting unarmed, fleeing suspects in the back 47 times... Oh wait... They`re gonna have problems, aren`t they?

Isn`t this the law they -literally- passed at Midnight?

    (sarc)
Why should "laws" apply to cops? They are above the law. Rape, murder, graft, arson, kidnapping, NO laws for cops!
Why should "laws" apply to RETIRED cops? They`re not "normal people" who should be forced to "obey laws" after all!
    (/sarc)

Gun grabbers: THIS is what we think of you.

    @Skypirate-
I was thinking of Sean Bell, and several folks out in L.A.- whose names I can`t recall- but yeah, Diallo works as an illustration.
One cop yells `gun!` and every cop on the scene succumbs to mob mentality- there just has to be a better way to train these people- certainly there could be better laws in place to hold them accountable for their actions.

[quote">Large-capacity magazines are defined as magazines having the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds for any handgun and more than 5 rounds for any rifle or shotgun.....the bill would make such possession unlawful only if it occurs (1) in a public place.... and (2) within 20 feet of a firearm capable of accepting such magazine. The bill would exempt certain shooting ranges from the definition of “public place,” so that the possession and use of large-capacity magazines at such ranges would not be prohibited[/quote">

These laws are crazy. Here`s a chunk of a proposal for Delware.

So I can have a large mag just not within 20 feet of the gun. That`s the VP`s

A LOT of firearms dealers and distributors are now refusing to sell any guns to law enforcement agencies that they cannot sell to citizens in that jurisdiction.
