When will people realize that you can`t legislate gun violence out of existence.

Always nice when you see the following: "Cuomo issued an order approved by the Legislature that suspends the three days` public review of all bills under the constitution."

Yep, glad to see elected officials get around things like your state constitution by issuing an order.

And yeah, more laws always keep those criminals from being able to ... wait a minute...

    Hey, Democrats:

That "law" you rammed through in the middle of the night (literally!) and didn`t bother to read?
    It`s useless.
It`s SO USELESS even the MSM noticed it!

A "7 round" clip? Such things DO exist, but they`re mostly antiques...

Even more important, the courts threw out New York Cities ban on Big Gulps. It`s unconstitutional to limit the size of the soda a person can buy.

Now if they`d just overturn the Happy Meal Ban.

I don`t suppose it would have anything to do with this.

@OldOllie - It has nothing to do with that. The only magazines I`ve ever seen that have a maximum capacity of 7 rounds are for the Colt M1911. The industry standard for magazine fed, semi-auto rifles is 10 round mags, and 9 round mags for handguns. They simply just don`t make them anymore.

This is another reason why these laws which were put together so fast and crammed through the system as fast as possible are now being torn to shreds. Now that people have had the time to read them all the gun owners of NY are are collectively saying "WTF?!"

This blunder, and the huge mistake they already fixed about not having cops exempt, tell me that all these a$$holes never actually read what they were voting on. If they had read it surely someone was bound to find the f*ck-ups.

@whodat, I don`t think Cuomo or the other NY Democrats gave a loose dry f*** that private citizens would not have ANY options left for semi-automatic firearms that complied with their stupid law. If they could have outlawed ALL semiautomatic firearms, or for that matter, private ownership of ALL firearms, they would gladly have done so. It was only when the COPS became subject to the same stupid laws, imposed from the outside by patriotic gun dealers all across America and could no longer buy guns for themselves, did they relent.

We won this one without firing a shot. The next one might not turn out so nice.

OldOllie....Since none of the weapon manufacturers that the police in NYS use is on the list you posted, it`s unlikley that it`s the reason Cuomo and the Legislature MAY revisit this. Baretta, Colt, Smith, Glock, H&K, Remington, Mossberg aren`t there, and those are the brands police use here. Additionally, the 7 shot limit effectively ceased all new handgun sales in NY....part of the grand plan I`m sure. Right now it`s rumor that they`re gonna take another look at it. Time will tell.

I doubt the fact that they effectively banned semi-auto firearms with that limit was lost on them. Governments do that sort of thing all the time. Locally, the restrictions on where a registered sex offender can live are so tight, there are only two places they can really legally live, and it would have to be a tiny house to meet the "distance" parts of their requirements. The lawmakers would have a lot harder time if they didn`t give at least the appearance of still allowing something; they find it easier to simply "restrict it out of existence".

From the article- "Cuomo minimized the cleanup now needed in the bill as addressing "ambiguities" and "grammatical errors" and routine for complex measures. "

It seems that grammatical errors are routine for this publisher as well.

(I make plenty my self. I just think that a sentence pointing out grammatical issues that contains one itself is funny.)

Good this is what happens when you make laws about something you know nothing about and on a knee jerk reaction without listening to the people. Friggen ass clown.

"Their hearts were in the right place unfortunately they all had their head up their ass"

That`s exactly why this scares me. I`d like to how many laws have been passed, not only here in NY, but all over the country, that they never even took the time to read and discuss before voting `yes` on them.

@lt633c Cops can`t buy their firearms directly from manufacturers. Manufacturers can only sell to federally licensed firearms dealers, i.e., like the ones listed in the linked article. The cops have to buy their guns from them, just like the rest of us.

Licensed gun dealers are embargoing law enforcement agencies in jurisdictions where citizens` constitutional rights are being violated. NYPD had a large order of guns cancelled by one of the dealers on the list, and they couldn`t find another dealer to sell them the guns they wanted.

I have to break the law to find out what`s against the law...
I have to arrest the innocent to find out what they did that`s illegal....
I have to burn the book to find out what`s find out why it`s offensive...

Their hearts were in the right place...
No, they weren`t. Their hearts were in EXACTLY the same place as Hitler`s heart was when he banned private gun ownership in Germany in the 1930s. I`ll concede that most of them are just plain stupid, but the instigators of this fascist anti-constitutional bull$#!+ are pure evil.
