This story flies just as well as one of their missiles...

I think you guys are missing the point, you don`t need missiles to spread a germ or walk to the top of a skyscraper and set off a nerve agent. Our anti-missile defense grid is useless against that. You just need one person to walk unnoticed across the border and not just the DMZ border. A nuke maybe their most flashy weapon but most likely not their deadliest.

Or do you think when their country has lost its legitimacy and quite possibly its sovereignty with it, then at that point is when they will be the most rational (in the land where the people believe their government captured a Unicorn and their leader doesn`t poop)? And how many and whose lives are you willing to bet on it?

What are they calling this brat? We`ve had the Great Leader and the Dear Leader, ... who cares.

Just attention seeking, he`s not going to do anything significant.

Is it just me or is that war room some sort of relic from the 1960s?

This assh*le is going to start another war on the Korean peninsula and I believe China is finally fed up with their sh|t as well.

Despite my love of all things Korean (north and south), owing to the risks involved to Seoul, yeah, probably we should dust off and nuke the whole site from orbit. It`s the only way to make sure.

the reason why we don`t view them as a threat, is because we have sensor technology that can detect a launch as soon as it happens. As well as the defensive capability to destroy any threat before it even leaves their country.

I`m worried about how insignificant people believe NK is. They are a nuclear power and no they don`t have long range missiles, but they have thousands of zealots who can transport it in boats and planes. Not to mention they have plenty of fully capable nerve agents. About 2,500-5000 tonnes of nerve agents like VX gas, enough of it to kill not millions but billions. Not to mention what they have in terms of biological weapons, that could be spread to SK then to China, with over a billion people. Plus they don`t need to have long range missiles to reach Seoul and our military bases in SK. Have we not learned from the middle east about what a little craziness can do to innocent lives.

@Draculya: They could put a nuke on an aircraft, fly it to Los Angeles and... boom? That`s the "worst case scenario".
Also tossing a nuke at Seoul, which is right close to the border...

@WhoDat: What you say is true, and their nukes are (so far) really tiny. BUT the fact that they have them and are crazy enough to use them makes it very hard to have a "conventional" war with them. M.A.D. doesn`t seem to bother them at all... the government I mean, not the citizens (obviously).

Bring it bitchez! I for one have total confidence that they won`t nuke US territory. What`s the worst that could happen?

@antagonizer - I didn`t just make that sh*t up about their nuke & ballistic missile programs. If they were a real imminent threat something would have been done by now.

They haven`t been invaded because the rest of world has realized that their bark is way bigger than their bite. Last time they tried to f*ck with South Korea they got their a$$es handed to them even with China backing them up.

If that little douchebag tries anything and sparks a war there won`t be a North Korea anymore.

"Nope, just the continental US"

They don`t have missiles that can reach Hawaii, let alone the continental U.S..

@whodat6484
"What are they going to do, nuke themselves if we put boots on the ground?"

Nope, just the continental US, and imagine the uproar if people knew it was caused by overzealous leaders trying to prove something by invading.

"It will be years before the country can make a nuclear device that`s small enough to fit on a ballistic missile"

I`m Canadian, so it doesn`t affect me, but damn it`d suck to be you if you were wrong. Plus, if you think about it...doesn`t the fact that they HAVEN`T been invaded suggest that you may be? It`s like they know something you don`t.

I generate more international controversy in a game of Command & Conquer. And since when has N Korea not targeted S Korea and the US? This is just Jr Kim`s way of building a tough guy image like his father did.

"What would and has stopped the US from walking in there...nukes and fear that they will be used."

What are they going to do, nuke themselves if we put boots on the ground?

While North Korea has nukes it`s a long way off from being able to lob one over this way. They barely got a satellite into space a few months ago, nothing to worry about. It will be years before the country can make a nuclear device that`s small enough to fit on a ballistic missile, and years more until it has enough confidence in its launches to guarantee a hit.

They better be careful because if they keep it up someone`s going to say "F*ck it, I`ve had enough of this sh*t" and they`ll be wiped off the map.

@McGovern1981 Yet there are NO boots on the ground in NK. That should tell you something about nuclear deterrent. Lets face it, NK`s military is no match for...well most developed countries. What would and has stopped the US from walking in there...nukes and fear that they will be used.

"What if he`s grown up for so long being told lies about his country`s power that he`s convinced he can win a war?"

That is EXACTLY what I`ve been thinking about ever since he became "Supreme Leader." I remember hearing a lot of talk about how maybe it was a good thing because he`s younger and might actually have some common sense but never bought it. I`m almost 100% positive that in his own twisted little mind he truly believes he`s 10 feet tall & bullet proof, like a demigod or maybe he just thinks he`s a god. Or maybe he`s just like the kid in school who always wants attention so as soon as people forget he`s there he has to do something to get their attention again, "Hey guys, over here, look at me, look at me..."

This is just to make lil` old ladies scared so they will prompt their congressmen to make them safe, thus funding more to the military industrial complex and putting the people farther into debt.

Yeah, like they were leaked. They would have been carefully released to increase as a form of sabre rattling. They know they can`t win but they need to give the impression that they think they can.

@madduck: Let`s hope so! However, history is FULL of leaders who surrounded themselves with incompetent idiots who kissed their butts, leading to disaster for their nation.
On another note- haven`t they all got HUGE hats??
You know what they say: Big Hat? Big Gun! ;-)

#4: Russia, Germany, Britain, France AND the USA all had billions of assets tied up in Iraq which were not only doing nothing, they were rotting away! So it was "expedient" to "liberate" Iraq and "free up" those assets... I mean the Iraqi people!!

#5: No one has ANY assets in North Korea. Not even China, although they`re NK`s #1 trade partner.

#6: South Korea DOES NOT WANT a fight with the North! They`re the ones who will suffer, just like last time, and they`d rather not go through THAT again. Especially with "The Nuclear Card" in NK`s hand...

I think that the intention to go to war is a secondary reason for all of this posturing. The primary purpose for this behavior- and the funneling of most of their resources into the `military budget`- is simply to provoke and reinforce the strongest possible intensity of devotional investment from the North Korean public- as well as to give little Kim a plentiful slush fund from which to buy an unlimited supply of American luxuries.

@Squrlz4: Well, #1 the UN said it was OK to re-invade Iraq because they`d been in violation of the Cease Fire for several years. The sanctions were doing nothing, since Syria was sneaking oil out for Saddam (with help from Koffe Anna`s son...) and sneaking military supplies in.

Thus: Iraq was a problem that needed to be solved SOONER rather than later.

#2: It was a brilliant military strategy: meet the enemy on the ground of YOUR choosing. Right out of Sun Tzu`s "Art of War" eh?
Those thousands of "militants" that came to fight (and die) in Iraq? You`d prefer they came to the US Mainland to do it?

#3 Korea has a whopping big army. Sure it`s getting obsolete and the USA and S.Korea have way better equipment, BUT it`s still huge, capable of solid defense and the terrain is NOT friendly to the attacker (like open desert is).

Ummmm there`s at least 30,000 US troops at the border of North and South K. I`m willing to bet even more very soon.

Well, I-A-B conservatives, what now? How is it that we had no choice but to invade Iraq because it was "an imminent threat"--but this little punk gets to display maps of an American mainland invasion and release "fantasy" videos of a nuclear attack on New York?

I`m not asking the question to mock the conservative view. Frankly, I`m really getting tired of this little twit and I`d like to hear what you guys think we can or should do.

They need a war. Too many people and a nice war would kill off a good portion, while keeping the rest employed.

But I don`t think it would work out too well for them. Their troops would all just surrender fist chance they got. They were trained by the french afterall.
