if she was struggling to make ends meet she shouldn`t be shopping at Bed Bath and Beyond, that place is overpriced as hell

Too "perfect" for reality, it`s most likely a made-up story.

Oh sure, these things do happen. It`s just... rare.

Wait till she realizes that the guy grabbed the credit card from her wallet and used it to pay for the transaction before he left to use it in Vegas!

Reading through this comment thread, it makes sense why acts like this are not more commonly recognized and performed: Because too many jackasses are too busy being stimulated by picking it to pieces or calling `fake` to reinforce their addiction to cynicism.

Uhm. if you haven`t got much money to begin with, then you shouldn`t be shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond. That place is expensive. There are many other retailers that sell comforters that are far less expensive.

Ok, this is cute and all. But really? If you`re having a hard time financially, you dont go to freaking bed bath and beyond for comforters. you dont even go to target for comforters. There is such a thing as discount stores like ross, marshalls, factory 2 u, fallas paredes, even walmart. 20 bucks for a set with sheets, comforters, pillow cases and everything. Seriously. Come on lady.

allebanna I don`t know what kind of walmart you shop at but i have yet to see a complete bed set for sale for $20. $50 minimum for a complete set at walmart. $20 will get you one with just a blanket in it :|

Want to restore your faith in humanity? Go and donate to your local food bank and watch the people cry because they are so happy to receive a box of red beans and rice and a couple of cans of soup.

I once paid the remainder of this little kid`s bill in front of me who had a whole slew of candy and chocolate on the counter. He had only 2 dollars and it rung up to $4.85 or something. The cashier began telling him his options on what to put back and I just couldn`t bare it.

So, I`m confused. Did she count out her money and decide she could only buy one comforter BEFORE she came to the register or did she gather up all this expensive stuff and suddenly realize "Hey I don`t have $200!"? And I agree with the rest of these people, wtf are you doing shopping at that place if you`re in financial trouble?

And how could the woman not have noticed the guy directly behind her in line trying to pay for her stuff?

@iLove: That`s one of the most suspicious parts. That and her "not noticing" when the guy behind her paid for it.

@lovepath7: It`s funny, because other IABers accuse me of blindly believing everything I read... :-P

iLove: i agree! why is she shopping at the expensive bed bath and beyond if she cant afford it? nice story nonetheless but go to a gently used store or walmart... its going to be 75% cheaper.

If you are struggling to afford warm blankets for yourself and your children, Bed, Bath, & Beyond is NOT the store you should be shopping at.

How exactly did the cashier who is telling the story know what else she wanted to buy, if all she brought to the register was one comforter?

"why do Americans call blankets comforters"

We don`t. A comforter is a thick cover we usually use on the very top layer of a bed. For instance, when I get in bed, I have a sheet, then a super soft, fuzzy blanket and then a bavarian goose down comforter in a duvet cover over me. I bought that comforter in Munich over 20 years ago and it`s the best trip souvenir I`ve ever bought.

If she needed comforters and could only afford so much, she really shouldn`t have gone to a price-gouger like BB&B

why was a poor woman trying to be thrifty at a BB&B? Jeezus, that`s why you`re poor. Just go pick up clearance crap from sears for a few bucks.

BigWaFuu: You made me laugh out loud, but that`s kinda what I was thinking. If she bought one comforter and the guy laid out $200 more, Christ, those are hundred dollar bed cozies. Mine, for the last five or six years, has been a $17 WalMart number. Granted, I don`t have Minnesota winters to contend with, but 100 bux?

Fake story fail. He can`t be anonymous to the store employee if he used his credit card.
