She paid for a medium but wanted it in a large cup with free overflow. Times are tough, you have to fight for every drop

It`s a drink! If she doesn`t like it so much, go elsewhere.

I have worked fast food jobs when I was young. The worst part was not the customers, but the management and coworkers.

My current job is frickin awesome. Bad economy can`t stop this train! chooo choo!

At what point are people going to stop feeling entitled to do whatever they want when ever they want? This society is doomed.

We use to pull a Waiting all of the time to people who were either rude or someone we just didn`t like. Always be polite to the ones who handle your food.

3 things.
First that customer was a bit_h

2 there are better ways of handling this customer. I would have just taken the coffee, gave her a refund and asked her to politely leave if she continued with that language. If she refused, I would have called the police.

3. there are many people who work at low paying jobs not because of their lack of education or lack of experience, but because there are not any jobs out there.

I am so contrary that I love helping customers like that.

Come talk to me after you deal with a very drunk and belligerent person trying to buy alcohol when it`s 1:50am and you have a regular standing behind them just trying to get their post work two cans.

Best line ever for customer service relations, "I am sorry but company policy states . . . ."

Looks like a real catch.

There are so many things I want to say about this, but I`ll refrain. It`s to early, I haven`t had my caffeine and I`m not thinking clearly yet.
"Why hire dumb inexperienced teenagers"

By that logic nobody should have a job because nobody has experience until they`re trained. Get the point? Hope so.
It`s funny you would ask me about getting your "point" after completely missing mine.

In a good economy with low unemployment, most adults with a decent education, average IQ, and work experience don`t have to settle for minimum wage. Young inexperienced workers are the only ones who have to take crappy jobs at minimum wage like fast food and other menial unskilled work.

However, when the economy is as bad as the Obama economy is, there are millions of unemployed adults who are willing to take a minimum wage job if there is nothing else available.

Right now there are many young people who have never had a job, and they probably won`t have one for a very long time. That`s not by my logic; that`s the new normal under Obama.

skett - Yep! I was young. I was worried about them complaining about me to "higher ups". I soon figured out that I had it backwards. Everyone is used to hearing complaints, but when you impress a nice person and they take the time to give a commendation, it out weighs 100 complaints. Ass kissing is important when you`re young. I am slowly reaching the "kiss my ass, I`m too old for this shi.t" age...It`s awesome!
"Its funny you seem to employ full grown people in your MacDonald`s in the US"
I know a woman who recently got her Masters in Business Administration. After a year and a half of job hunting, she finally got a job as assistant manager at a McDonalds. Not exactly what whe expected to find, but that`s the state of the economy in the US. Her entire salary goes to pay off the student loans & her husband pays all the other bills.

Why hire dumb inexperienced teenagers when there are plenty of mature adults lined up and willing to do the same job for the same minimum wage?

That`s what 14% unemployment will do for a country. Thanks, Obama.

Also, a lot of fast food business count the cups and reconcile that with the cash register sales. If you sell more medium drinks than the number of medium cups used, and fewer large drinks than the number of large cups used, you`re gonna have some `spainin` to do.

mmmmm I could be married to that women and I am not sure, except for how she looks, that I would notice the difference. I am sure that if you get past her hate of men (my wife) and her hate of people, I am sure she is a sweet girl.

People complain customer service is dead, but I say "shut up".

People in service jobs spend all day on their feet flogging away at a dead end job for starvation wages while nasty bitches berate them. But that`s not enough is it, you want them to act like they give a schitt as well. I say you`re asking too much. Be polite and they won`t spit in your coffee. That`s all you can reasonably expect.

Its not because I know its the right thing to do, its because I hate people telling me what to do, and I tend to get stubborn!

Around here, virtually all counter servers are ESL immigrants who often know only enough of the language to push the cash register buttons: Coffee+donut+herbal tea+scone= "Fife seeksty whan." God help you if you ask to have that scone warmed in the microwave, `cause it ain`t on a button, and you get this panicked look as the guy offers you a mug. They`re not all that bad, but some really are.
But going psycho over not getting your order right is really low class.

She paid for a medium drink. She did not pay for a medium drink plus overflow. 12 ounces (or whatever ) is 12 FLIPPING OUNCES

I worked behind counters of all kinds - there is a way to ask for extra - it`s easy if you are NICE. 90% of the time whoever is helping you would be glad to do it for free and will feel like a good guy - everyone wins. Insulting the counter clerk is a surefire way to make you look like a jerk and you get NOTHING . No one wins.

skett - Totally agree. In the past I found myself "going the extra mile" for a-hole customers, just to get them to shut up. It took a conscious effort to stop putting up with those people and put my effort into the nice people.

Where I work I`ll make far less effort to help somebody treating me like that than I will somebody whos friendly. I once had somebody apologise for spilling a coffee that they`d just bought so I came out to clean it up. Was just about to offer her a replacement on the house and she said "Aren`t you going to go and replace it for me then? After all it was your fault! The lid came off!"
At which point I told her that the lids were not designed to hold all the coffee in the cup when dropped but merely to prevent spillage and that I would happily go and get her a replacement but she would have to pay for it.

I did find it quite funny when her friend came up afterwards and gave me a well done for standing up to her!

I used to run a store with a coffee shop inside and one day I heard a customer flipping out at one of my staff members.

When I came into the conversation she was yelling because the barista who was slammed, didn`t give her milk immediately with the tea she ordered.

After refunding her money and giving her a free voucher she was still flipping out. I looked at her and her husband (who was standing behind her) and said, "I apologize for the milk but the other barista didn`t show up so she`s been handling our busiest hours by herself."

She continued to rant and said things like, "that`s not my problem." I told her I understand that, but it`s more of an understanding of why she`s stress and for what it`s worth, I now have a young girl crying in my stock room because you didn`t get your milk when you asked.

At that point her husbands eyes opened wide and he pulled her back apologized and left.
