So they gave the guy with DS a helmet? were they worried he would get brain damage?

Where was his opponent? I saw a guy stumbling around in the ring not doing much but he didn`t look like a referree to me.

It`s for charity, and it probably made this kids year! Go easy on them.

Danny Junior was raising money for the Downs Syndrome Association.

Danny`s dad (Danny Senior) was a professional boxer, and passed away at an early age while out jogging in London, and his Son wanted to carry on in his footsteps.

Now Danny Junior & his mum Carol Mardell continue to raise money for charity, and I think this bout was a great introduction for Danny - there may be more to come in the future!

Hmm. This seems fixed to me. I put my money on the big guy and lost it all.

I don`t agree with the boxing, or mma part of it for that matter. However feeling useful or important is all people like this guy got. He may or may not realize the fight was `fixed` but I`m pretty sure it doesn`t matter to him either way. He accomplished something, plain and simple.

Does it really help Down Syndrome people to see one their own in a fake fight, where another boxer taps him instead of hitting? Poor muscle tone is part of DS (you can see it here), and it seemed preposterous going in that this kid would be in a real fight. It just seems pointless to me.

In order to be "inclusive" we put them on exhibition.
It used to be more honest, they called it a Freak Show out front.

Of course he won, if he didn`t we`d have to stone the other guy for being better than a retard at something.

This seems like a great idea but I have a couple of well intentioned questions. The DS guy appears to understand all of the rules of boxing but can`t tell his opponent`s punches are held back and really light? If so, is it a good idea to tell someone who can`t comprehend that that he`s a badass fighter?

Mmmmmm gotta love fixed boxing. I wonder if the DS kid was in on it?

Whenever I see these I`m waiting for the day when the actual boxer screws up and accidentally throws a real punch. Like when Richard Pryor was talking about boxing Muhammad Ali at a charity event.

Oh I see, it`s literally a charity bout.

Having worked with those dealing with developmental disabilities I think this was fantastic. You know how much that made his day, whoever the boxer is is a hell of a guy.
