At present it is estimated that marijuana`s LD-50 is around
1:20,000 or 1:40,000. In layman terms this means that in order to induce
death a marijuana smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times as
much marijuana as is contained in one marijuana cigarette. NIDA-supplied
marijuana cigarettes weigh approximately .9 grams. A smoker would
theoretically have to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within
about fifteen minutes to induce a lethal response.

"he had 3 times the lethal dosage of THC in his blood."

3 times infinity is still infinity. The lethal dose of THC is infinity. It does not have any life-threatening action on the nervous system.

"He ended up smoking the entire pack of marijuana"

And, although I am not the first one to say DarkMagic`s story is complete bullpoo, apparently I am the first one to point out that marijuana doesn`t come in a pack. Not even in Holland or Jamaica.

And if the story is true (it isn`t) then shame on him for not sharing the "pack" with anybody else.

"My brother, always a moral and thoughtful individual, wanted to attend because it was one of those massive house parties that he`d never been to.

Well, as was later recalled by some of his friends at the party, he was pressured into smoking marijuana. He ended up smoking the entire pack of marijuana cigarettes.

Not long after he went into convulsions and started foaming at the mouth. The people at the party held back calling 9/11 for almost 10 minutes.

When the paramedics finally arrived they could do nothing to save him.

The autopsy revealed he had 3 times the lethal dosage of THC in his blood."
I`m sorry you are from a line of fools who inject pot like heroin. Frankly,if he was that stupid, death was a relief.

The demotivation from smoking weed is a fact, people that claim they can OD on it are on crack.

The drug affects different people in different ways, much like smoking cigarettes. But honestly, what are the odds he was doping? Not accusin`, just saying, this may not tell the entire story.

`Word has gotten out`. Always a reliable companion with any conspiracy theory.

I believe most people know the tale of the hemp and the economic reasons for banning it.

Doesn`t change the fact that marihuana is a dangerous product.

Ofcourse, so is alcohol and definitely tobacco.

"Lethal dose"? I`m sorry, but there`s no such thing, someone lied to you. Yes, even doctors have jumped on the "demon weed" bandwagon, spouting off the nonsense about how bad it is, without a shred of proof. The government does their best to hide it, but word has gotten out about the tests performed by the Navy years ago. They tried their best to find something "bad" about marijuana, and failed completely. The results of those tests were, not surprisingly, never widely released to the public, because of all the embarrassment it would`ve caused the government.

Does anyone here (besides me) even know why marijuana is illegal in the US? Its got nothing to do with the "narcotic" effects. Its all about profits. Back in the early days, late 1700- early 1800`s, cotton was a major crop, and source of profit, in the fledgling USA. Hemp, the "marijuana plant", is also a source of thread/cloth producing fibers, and thus a direct competitor to cotton. Thus, hemp was outlawed, due to lobbying by the enormous farms of the day, and not due to its narcotic properties. In the 1960`s, due to the "drug problem" in America`s youth, the government started using the old legislation to try to stop its use. Doubt me? Go look at the legislation concerning marijuana. Nowhere in the laws is it illegal to use, smoke, vaporize, eat, etc., marijuana. Instead, its illegal to possess it. If you could figure out a way to smoke weed without being in "possession" of it, you could stand and thumb your nose at the authorities while you t

You nailed it. In my experience, pot is way better for you than beer and liquor yet conservatives tend to clump it in with heroin and other heavier drugs.

Smoking pot is worlds apart from "drug abuse".
the key word is `lifestyle`. the lifestyle associated with daily hamburger ingestion would also hurt any athletic potential.
I smoke marijuana on a daily basis, yet I`m still very productive; I had two publications last year alone, and it would have been three if one of the other authors would have hurried up a bit. Wasted potential my ass.

I wish they would stop with the dumb drugs ads- factless scaremongering doesn`t work. Give kids the facts and let them work it out themselves. Lying to them is a really bad idea, does more harm in the long run.

@RubinRybnik, i know you are trolling but do you really believe pot cannot be abused? does anyone think that regular bonging sessions are what helped phelps win those medals?

This poster is the same as saying drinking heavily can ruin your athletic potential. What Phelps did was the equivalent of having a few pints to unwind when not in training.

It`s no secret that drug abuse destroys minds and lives. Sure, a few people can beat the odds, as the picture shows, but fartoo many wont.

"...wiped out by the lifestyle associated with marijuana smoking."

That`s like saying eating a hamburger will destroy your athletic career because eating hamburgers is "associated" with being a fatty.
