"cheats" make things easier, these add multiple steps to dying eggs and the colors look god awful.

Seems like way too much effort to do what markers can do.

I already knew this after perusing an issue of Martha Stewart while waiting for a number of hours in the Montreal Palais De Justice courthouse.

Easier still, take 2 tablespoons of vinegar with 1 teaspoon of salt, add that to 1 cup of strong urine and you`ve got an egg you`ll be proud to give to your ex !

    Baking eggs is better.
Use a pin to poke a hole in one end.
    Bake at 375 f for 30 minutes.
Immediately place in cold water to stop the cooking.

They shell easier and taste good.

    "Baking eggs is better."

Thanks Gerry. Half the video I was wondering why bake them, but also why did she tell me to bake them but not explain why?

The blue was nice. The "pink," however, wasn`t any shade of pink I know of.

This is great if you want to spend three days dying eggs. Others may wish to buy a simple kit of VEGETABLE based egg colors and get everything done in an afternoon.

Boiled cabbage, boiled onions, and all that vinegar.
I bet her house smells lovely.

And then there`s the smell of those egg farts.

They all came out brown, sans the blue. If you dont want to use the dye then use water with vinegar and crayola markers to make your own dye. This is just waaaay to much work for a bunch of muddy colored eggs

I think baking the eggs is ridiculous. You are going to waste more energy ($$$) that way. It only takes 10-12 minutes to boil an egg versus 30 minutes to bake them. And if you are going to use natural food dyes you already have hot water to start with. Granted I like the natural dyes I am still going to use artificial because I already have them in my pantry. So :-P

Oh crap now I have to go buy beets, onions, red cabbage and electricians tape just to color 12 eggs.......Nah!! I will just stick to my 99. cent box of traditional egg coloring or I won`t color eggs at all!!! and spend the same amount of money as I would spend on all of those veggies that I named above and buy a bottle of wine and greedily drink all of it!!!

AJ - real eggs?! Of course real eggs.
You get some friends, about 5 or 6 different egg dyeing kits, and lots of roostertails together.

    Makes for a fun afternoon.

My mom grew up in the depression, my grandparents REFUSED to buy anything store-bought that could be made or improvised with what was on hand. They used all of these methods, and a few others, to dye their eggs. The eggs were hollowed out--dime-sized hole in the top to remove the egg, shell allowed to dry. Nothing was ever wasted.
By the time we were growing up (in the 70`s) & times were better for my mom, she still had us do it this way. Our neighbors were amazed at how "naturalistic" she was (direct quote from our hippie neighbors). Mom would just say "umm-hmnm" & chuckle about it on the phone later with her sisters. Might not be fancy, but we had a lot of fun doing it.

Ok, so Red, grey sorta blue, brown, brown, brown, and brown. I can buy eggs already brown so that narrows it down. Also, last I checked food dye and vinegar won`t hurt you and the kits you buy at easter are just the dye and vinegar dehydrated so you just add water. I use food dye I keep for baking anyways but it`s the same thing. Ignorant caption is ignorant. Useful if you can`t spare 2.50 for a pack of food dye and only want 3 colors with one color being in 4 shades.
