Link: To This Day Project -- Shane Koyczan - A powerful video about bullying, and those who overcome it. I watched it and I cried.

A few of the more abstract verses are a little hoke, but the power of this project cannot be denied. They should show this in schools.

this is stupid... buck up. There`s way too much emphasis on what other people think of you.

I was probably the strangest kid in every class, I would forfeit my recess time to go read encyclopedias at the library. Yeah that was me, and you know what happened? Absolutely nothing. I grew up happy I went read and to this day I don`t know, nor care to know, what any of my old classmates were thinking about.

I doubt your outlook is the norm Jendrian. You are an expert among experts of people who grew up awkwardly and as outcasts.

@badfish951: no you`re missing the point: I`m no extraordinarily strong person (on the contrary, I`m short and relatively weak), if someone as meek as me can do it, anyone can.

I was a bullied fat kid in school, emotionally wrecked from family issues making me an even bigger target. Only had two friends for the first 16 years of my life.

But I just found this pretentious. The way it is presented makes it sound arty and almost romantic, something that completely fails to resonate with the subject.

Bullying happens, you can`t stop it. I got over my school troubles when I left school. Dumb to let the first 1/6 of your life ruin the other 5/6`s. Suck it up and move on.

I did cry a little, for a different reason. I was a bully and now it breaks my heart to think what pain I must have caused. All this talk about bulling lately reminds me that I have to be kind and gentle to everyone that crosses my path for the rest of my life just to be even. Also the reason why I have no childhood friends.

I can relate.. and still do...perseverence is everything...goals always seem out of reach and being welcomed into a crowd still feels weird...... I shut that poo out and accepted the fact that if i dont act there is nothing. Two types of people in this world...those that sit and do nothing, and those that get up and do something. I will not falter in the pursuit of something.

working in psychiatric health care i know the damage "being picked on" can cause. in a way i am lucky that my childhood wasnt that riddled with these demeaning moments and though i aint sure i can hope that i wasnt a bully, i dont think i was, but i cant say for sure. Why cant i say for sure? because it seems you are either a victim or a bully (or maybe there is a third, the enabler)
long story short, this movie is right. We can ill afford to let this continue. Not just from a victims point of vieuw, but from a society`s point of vieuw. Because there is somethign wrong if we dont.. Yes kids do the weirderst things. Not an excuse though. We need to raise our kids just as how we needed to be raised, bullying is something that means there is something wrong in the raising of the kids on both sides, victim and purpetrator.
The worst part, bullying starts young, and bully`s rarely mean what it seems they are doing, but the older they get, the more they mean it, cause.. wel

To people saying this lacks power, or the message is redundant. You have no idea how bad some kids get it. How terrible someone can be to another person. A person is mentally built by the time they spend with their piers. And how those people act towards them is key in shaping how they see themselves. "Get over it." Is not an option for some people. Everybody is different, respect them.

Seriously, that`s all their is to it. Respect. You don`t have to like them, you don`t have to be nice to them, just be respectful. Don`t be coy with someone, and never say you know what someone is going through. Because you didn`t live their life. You haven`t seen things with their memories, or ideals. So just respect them.

the society i grew up in has definitely twisted my wife and my view of ourselfs. i was always over weight until i lost weight at 24 years old. i grew up a fat white kid in a black neighborhood and going to mostly black schools, it wasn`t fun. i know i lash out because of that. humor is a way of self defense and i`m blessed with dark humor. if you ever read one of my comments and wondered why i`m such an non-nice individual sometimes that`s why.

drat you i-am-bored. getting me all pissy eyed.
