why should THEY have the right to marriage. I`m not allowed the right to receive anal sex without being gay!!!!

My question is why would ANYBODY have that reaction to this story? Why have any reaction other than, oh look now people can live their lives how they see fit and be happy without it in any way affecting me whatsoever....

Correct, withour prefacing every sentence with "Hi my name is, blahblah, and I`m gay. (waits for his round of applause like an octogenarian waiting to be congratulated for not dying yet).

gays need to have the right to marry. They should have all the problems of divorce we straight people do.

"I said what bothers me was this need for gays to shout about it and bully other (private) gays out into the open."

No. You started out by saying:

"Yay, let`s pander to the minorities that kick up the biggest fuss."

Sorry no. Now you are twisting the truth. I said what bothers me was this need for gays to shout about it and bully other (private) gays out into the open.

"Why should he have to announce anything to you or anyone else?"

Le`s go back a few steps. The REAL question is why should you or anyone else care what two adults do in a private ceremony in Illinois?

Because of all the good it would do. Once people like Anderson Cooper and Tom Cruise, who have widespread mainstream acceptance, announce they are gay.

It`s the first I have heard about Tom Cruise but even if he is, you are typically using bullying tactics to get him to admit it. Why should he have to announce anything to you or anyone else?

"why do you insist a politician MUST announce he is gay or a sports star or musician or actor?"

Because of all the good it would do. Once people like Anderson Cooper and Tom Cruise, who have widespread mainstream acceptance, announce they are gay it makes it that much easier for some 14 year old struggling with it somewhere to be honest about who they are.

If some rich, famous, powerful guy can`t be proud of who they are, how is some kid supposed to? It is the same with any persecuted minority. Think of what good it did for young black people when Sidney Portier, Jackie Robinson, or Barack Obama achieved what they did. The difference is they didn`t need to announce they were black because that was obvious.

From the Daily Mail online today. Another insecure
gay man feels the need to tell everyone what goes on inside his bedroom.
Former Leeds winger Robbie Rogers comes out but announces his retirement aged just 25.

Then why do you insist a politician MUST announce he is gay or a sports star or musician or actor? And don`t say you don`t, I`ve seen the angry marches and heard the vitriol spewed out by gay activists or whatever this weeks PC term is.
They may wish to keep private things private but that`s never good enough for the trouble-makers among you.

"Why do gays feel the need to announce their sexuality before embarking on anything?"

I used to work with a gay guy. Not once did he say "I like sucking dick, I`m going to go print that presentation."

One of my good friends is gay. Not once has he called me and said "I love penises in my ass, we`re going to a bar tonight if you want to go."

People need to have special treatment, pride parades, etc to let others in the community know it is ok and there is nothing to be ashamed of and let the rest of society see them. Visibility leads to acceptance. Once they are accepted they won`t have any need to stand out.

People like you are the reason this post exists. There should be no reason to have a post, because there should be no law being passed, because there should have been no discrimination to begin with, because bigots like you should have just minded their own business.

@ drawman,

First I`ll say we don`t want special treatment, just the right to do the same stuff you do. At the moment it`s getting married. Before that it was fighting to not-get-fired for being gay, we like to keep our jobs. Before that we fought to get cops to stop straight guys from fag-bashing and not look the other way. Still earlier we wanted to live in the same neighborhoods you do... Just like real people!

Yeah, I know all those "special privileges" probably irritate someone who`s automatically accepted from birth, but to us it means a lot do normal things like serve our country in the military or on the police force, or even do weird things like have children. You know... all the stuff you take for granted.

As for announcing your sexuality-you do. Every time you comment on a pretty girl or start a sentence with "Why do gays . . . " you`re telling us what side your bread is buttered on.

Why do gays feel the need to announce their sexuality before embarking on anything? If it`s so completely normal why not just say "I am a person". As a hetro male I don`t announce my sexuality in the hope of getting special treatment. And the PC brigade buy into it every time.

HolyGod,
"Do bigots know they are bigots? Or do they really think they are the normal ones?"
Why so extremist? Why does it have to be one or the other.
Can`t a normal guy be a bigot, too?

"Yay, let`s pander to the minorities that kick up the biggest fuss."

I completely agree. Thank god at least one other person on this thread is rational. You know what else pisses me off? Those uppity negroes. I absolutely can`t stand when minorities want the same rights as everyone else.

Do bigots know they are bigots? Or do they really think they are the normal ones? Oh, well, you`re in your 50s. You`ll be dead soon. Then the world will be just a little bit better.

Can`t wait for a state to legalise gay marriage and cousin marriage.

It`s cool, but I object to my home state being called Big I. More like `New Detroit` because that`s where the whole place is headed.

I agree that it should be legal nationwide. If yer gonna do it state by state, shouldn`t it be done by vote? Seems like the right thing to do. Oh well, I have a hard caring about things that don`t affect me.

Today I attended a rally at the Minnesota State capital with the hope of adding our state to the list of places where same sex marriage is recognized. :)

This would be alot quicker and cheaper if we could do it nationwide. There is the taking advantage of tax breaks but then again why should married people get breaks to begin with?? There`s alot of people who never marry because they can see what bulls**t it is.
