    Class,
I had a Jehovah witness bloke bang on my door
two days ago, waffling on about god the creator
    So I asked `who created god then?`
    he waffled, and um waffled,
and I kinda shuffled him along, and said
`Dinosaurs? where did they come from then?`
I do love trolling religious sorts,
basically we are all as old as the big bang,
we are all components of it, forget your age, we all the same, feck knows how many billion years old

This woman makes it sound stupid, but I worked with a very intelligent young woman at the car rental agency. She was smart, logical, a good manager. But she did not believe evolution was real. It was all fake and the Genesis Creation was the only true explanation of the universe.

When it comes to religion, they can talk themselves into anything, even what`s obviously not true.

@HolyGod, as with most everything else in the bible, it`s about interpretation. Leviathan and behemoth are two terms that are also used in the bible and could very well be interpreted to mean dinosaur in the context they are used. In fact, dragon could be an early term for dinosaur. There are many biblical scholars who seem to think so, at least.

This guy is a troll. I never heard "their bones are rock" from even creationists. I did however hear one tell me god created the world with the fossils in place (and the universe in a state as if it had been expanding for 14 billion years), by the way it`s hard to disprove that - I tried and failed.

"There are many biblical scholars who seem to think so, at least."

Yes, because they need to shoehorn dinosaurs into a book written by people who had no idea dinosaurs ever existed so that their only insane belief structure still holds true. People are capable of believing anything if they need to.

I`m pretty sure that if T-Rexes were tearing around israel eating people it would have warranted more than a few passing remarks.

Read the descriptions of Behemoth and Leviathan for yourself. There is not really anything dinosaur like about them. Leviathan is described in the bible as shooting fire and smoke from it`s mouth.

They are just monster stories, myths, like the rest of the bible.

@paperduck: I had this conversation too! In the Fundamentalist Christian high school I attended.
To counter it: I suggested that the Universe was crated by God 5 minutes ago, and the $20 I`d borrowed yeterday didn`t need to be paid back ;-) because "God created it!". Same for all those sins I`d done last weekend!

However: There`s a similar "arguement" that those distant galaxies & stars -don`t actually exist- and that God only created the LIGHT from them that would be observed during the time of Earth`s existance... that`s tough to "disprove" too. Although it`s obviously wrong. But it perfectly explains the "missing mass" problem...

    The "anti-christ" singular or plural
    "The Order Of The Universe"

I just despair at the logic.. or the lack of. I don`t understand the belief that the earth is only 6500 years old, was that one from the bible? `Cause I`m sure the evidence of the actual age of the earth is pretty overwhelming. Do both sides HAVE to be mutually exclusive? Perhaps God DID create man, through the miracle of evolution? and maybe the bible, a translation of a text written thousands of years ago, isn`t meant to be taken word for word? Is that a harder scenario to believe than people made of dust, or satanic dinosaurs?

Here`s my answer to your problem with dinosaurs:
    1) Write a will specifying your children will go to a family in which the parents have an IQ over 80.
    2) Take one of the may guns in your house, stick it in your mouth, and pull the trigger.
    3) All problems solved!

The term Dinosaur means terrible lizard and was started in the year 1842. The Bible mentions them just not with that word, cause it didn`t exist.

By no means are Dinosaurs fake and were created by God. And the Bible "does" talk about them. If you read Job:40-41 you`ll see what I am talking about. Now, about how old the earth is. The biggest thing most folks do not take into consideration is that 14Carbon dating is only accurate up to about 80,000 yrs. The rate of 14Carbon to 12Carbon is the same as it always has been (1 to 1 trillion). Making this so. Anything beyond 80,000 yrs is a guess! In other words, the amount of 14Carbon being produced into the atmosphere(thru decay) must equal the amount being removed to be in a steady state (also called ("equilibrium"). If this is not true, the ratio of 14Carbon is not a constant, which would make knowing the starting of 14Carbon in a specimen difficult or impossible to accurately determine. This method can only be preformed on "once living" specimens! If you don`t believe me...Please look it up...and after you do...thank God for everything you have :D

Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

I have heard that argument before and it is just as full of holes as every other creationist argument. Yes, I agree with you, Carbon dating is not very accurate.....that must be why we use many other methods of dating that are much more accurate. I am not a geologist not am I very knowledgeable when it comes to dating objects but I do KNOW that this earth is older than 6500-"80000" years old because incredibly smart people have done their research and have reported on their findings.

People get so hung up on Carbon 14 dating, the actual process is called Radiometric Dating. Carbon 14 is just ONE of dozens if not hundreds of materials that can be used for dating samples of bones, fossils or whatever else you can think of. But the creationists don`t talk about the other factual data or scientific methods that are acutally used. A half truth is just as bad as a lie :-)

Much of what religion teaches is wrong, even by their own texts. Although the same thing can be said about Science, but at least Science is constantly correcting itself with each newly discovered fact. Religion on the other hand tries to suppress the facts at least until they become so obvious that even the most uneducated layperson sees the facts. Case in point the RCC just only a few years ago admitted that Galileo was correct that the Earth is not the center of the Universe.
A fact that was known centuries before Christ.

My son started his "dinosaur phase" at about.. Two, maybe. Still hasn`t gotten over it and he is almost six. Cars are starting to take over, not just Disney type cars or hot wheels, but he is genuinely interested in learning about what I am fixing when I work on vehicles.
