This guy murdered an officer from my hometown. I`m so glad he got what he deserved.

Awww, Rosy shades make this an idealistic world, always ready to give as much humane treatment of even the lowest of criminals. Does it make you sad that law enforcement deliberately burnt a man alive who has murdered several people. Sleep safe in your bed knowing that out there, at a moments notice, there are people willing to do what it takes to eliminate threats. Next you will be wanting full disclosure before a soldier can toss a grenade. Due process can suck it.

No Mr Peabody- but there is a difference between censorship and sensationalism. You can report facts but make them dry and boring. You can even say WHY---
As for the rest- yes, a child died- but only ONE- had they had guns the death toll would have been higher. Is it more humane to have your leg shot off or cut off? I suspect they are both as unpleasant- but the headcount tends to be lower with blades.

apparently police not only intentionaly burned the cabin down with him inside but they found a BRAND NEW WALLET with BRAND NEW CONTENT "confirming" that its his body.

if they "prove" that Dorner is dead everything will start back up if he scratches another name off of his hit list. the LAPD can either lie and get everyone off guard, including themselves, or they can tell the truth and keep shooting people in southern Cali. or Dorner`s new wallet and its new contents can just be made of jesus and it really IS him they murdered. either way. people still suck just as much as they did before this whole thing happened.
but by making his so famous and glamorous it just makes things worse- this is exactly what he wants
In this case I`m not so sure he was seeking the notoriety, I believe he was doing it out of a twisted sense of justice.

Also keeping things out of the media is a double edged sword (and I don`t mean the ones they use to hack 16 year olds to death with in London). Look at the conspiracy theories popping up at the mention that media were told to stay away from the area of the cabin. Who is going to decide what gets reported and what does not? The people? The media? The government? Unfortunately there is an ugly side to all the sensationalism, but there is an even uglier side to censorship.

Nationwide? - possibly not, so keep him off planes, let police know he is wanted, but keep his face from the public- or keep stuff quiet. It is not in the public interest. Not sure how you should work it- but he is a freakin star- he is famous. People think he is a hero. He is a mundane, boring, meltdown- go to any mental hospital and you will find lots of poor souls just as disturbed- and they are very boring too.

@Madduck

When you`re leading a nationwide manhunt, I would think that putting the face all over the media would be a good thing, in this case..

I agree- he certainly is not sane, although I suspect that for legal purposes he will stand, but I just wish that the media would refuse to publish anything more than bare facts- the public do not need to know his name, or have his face put everywhere... how many times have we seen this happen, and how many times before we realise- Do NOT make this behaviour glamorous, if only for the sake of those poor sods who do this on the future...

@madduck - The worst part is all the pages popping up with people who are actually on his side. They seem to think that, regardless of whether or not the guy has a case against the LAPD, he`s some kind of hero.

They all fail to realize that a man who is sane and is truly innocent wouldn`t write a "manifesto" threatening to kill the families of the police officers who wronged him. Now there are two innocent people dead, the daughter & fiance of the man who represented him at the hearing where he was fired, and a cop was killed around that same time. Another cop was killed in this last shootout and one was wounded. That doesn`t sound like the actions of a hero or a "vigilante" to me, he`s just a f*cking murderer.

This is basically just a very disturbed man with guns, he is dangerous and obviously delusional, and does not deserve any publicity. Every time you/we make one of these poor souls into a rock star there will be another lining up to do it again. even If, and I stress the If part, he had a point, it is plain that he lost the plot completely. but by making his so famous and glamorous it just makes things worse- this is exactly wwhat he wants- and by giving it to him we can be sure it will keep on happening... It is very sad indeed.

the UK and EU do have plenty of gun crime issues. however our media doesn`t leap up and down on it as we´d rather push all the "bad things" under the rug and focus on stupidity such as horse meat.

Yeah, they use swords. Stop acting like you guys are so civilized over there when crap like this happens

MrPeabody, don`t get me wrong. This country IS full of scum, I don`t deny it. My point is we don`t have guns YET. Our government loves to follow yours like sheep so I`m sure it`s only a matter of time. When that happens we may as well give up. I don`t care what the PC brigade say, I believe it is down to the influx of foreign cultures. In the UK it is a relatively new thing. In the US, you are built upon mixed cultures and races, it is part of your history and make-up of your culture. I applaud the noble idea your forefathers had of opening a new Land of the free but time has shown us that cultures will always clash.

"But your gut feeling, however you might have come about it, is in my opinion fueled by the types of people seen all over the net right now saying how this guy is a hero."

Actually it is quite the opposite. The guy is nothing but a murderer in my eye. My gut feeling was fueled by a pissed off police department.

Ok, we`ll agree that conspiracy theorists are twits. But your gut feeling, however you might have come about it, is in my opinion fueled by the types of people seen all over the net right now saying how this guy is a hero. Not saying by any means that you`re saying that @markust but all that kind of crap does influence our feelings at times.

All I was pointing out is the obvious reasons for the press being kept from the immediate vicinity. Why give the guy not only more targets but also a way to get his information?

Wow, that`s priceless. Please by all means test that idea for us. I wonder what would happen if you wrote a manifesto telling all police agencies not to pull you over for speeding.

And you all think for one second with all the exposure this has gotten in the media and with whacked out facebook fan pages that there won`t be an investigation? The people that claim this guy is a hero have already pretty much guaranteed that it will happen. Believe me, I have very little faith in the current government but it isn`t them that will demand the incidents all be investigated.

"why are sylvester stallone and tommy lee jones heroes when they do it, but this guy, doing it for real, is a bad guy?"

because he doesn`t just want to kill those officers. he`s talking about going after their families.

this is going to make a GREAT movie... one cop taking on the establishment, going against the force to out corruption and injustice.

`course it`s all been made a hundred times before.

However to those people that try to justify this guy being nothing more than a murderer and thief? He`s no hero, no folk hero. He`s nothing more than a killer now.

Funny how my son just commented to me that the conspiracy theories will begin...

They were sent away for very specific reasons.

1-Two officers already down in the firefight. One of which now confirmed killed.

2-Safety(see #1)

3-Attempting to keep a person who has bragged so openly to know all police tactics from learning of said tactics being employed against him.

Sorry but there is no big conspiracy here. He decided to steal a truck and got caught. Which proves that if in fact he was such a `good` cop as he claims that it proves good cops make bad criminals. Not to mention he`s now responsible for yet another death.

Whether this guy was mistreated by the LAPD or not in the past will be the job of an independent investigation that I`m sure will be conducted. If indeed there is corruption uncovered in the LAPD then appropriate action needs to be taken. However those people that try to justify this guy being nothing more than a murder
