somatype is right. It`s a carrion beetle with an overpopulation of hitchhiking mites. they`re not hurting it, just freaking it out because it can`t fly with the extra weight.

They are mites, not eating the bee but attempting to hitch a ride. It`s a process called phoresy. However, too many of them have climbed aboard the bee and she is too heavy to fly!
