I`ve had many dreams about losing my teeth. Started when I got braces but I`ve had them long after getting my braces off. Another recurring nightmare I have now is trying to find a bathroom and only finding the most disgusting toilets possible. Then I have to try to use it without touching all the crap, vomit, pee and assorted other gross things on them. Have no idea what that means.

"Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?"

    "No."

"Why am I the only one who has that dream?"

I have the Zombie apocalypse dream quite often too. Only once did I ever get bitten in my dream. There was actually one time where at the end of the dream we realized we were the only one`s left alive & the credits rolled like it was a movie! I kid you not!

Recently, I had a dream that I was dreaming about running and feeling that "running in molasses" thing. Holy inception, Batman! When I woke up for real, I felt that frozen feeling where you can`t move for a few seconds. Kind of freaky. It`s very, very rare for me to have a real nightmare that scares me awake. My dreams are more interesting than dramatic.

I have frequent dreams of trying to figure out what a client (or multiple clients) wants or needs (I work as a model builder) and being confused, unclear on what I`m doing, and without direction. Work dreams are most of my bad ones.

10: Test: Yup! I always fail horribly too. Usually because I haven`t attended class OR studied. Just last night I had this sort of dream.
8: Flying: more like "floating" or hovering, I usually stay quite low to the ground. Or it`s like a jump but I don`t land, just keep gliding along. It`s fun!
5: Naked: Yup! My pants vanish, undies too! Or I can`t find them, but still go out. Usually no one even notices!

I dream I kill people quite often. Usually they don`t "stay dead" and I have to kill them repeatedly. It`s kind of disturbing...

Driving, I drive a LOT in my dreams. It usually ends up weirdly.

@lauriloo: oh yeah! Bathroom dreams! I gotta go! But this bathroom is occupied, that one is filthy, or broken, or just missing, or has no walls and everyone can see! I go from place to place in search of a safe place to pee (or whatever) and things get very strange along the way.

5Cats, Bathroom dreams are the worst.
2nd most common nightmare I have is being back at college and not remembering what courses I was supposed to be going to, followed by Zombie plague nightmartes. Another nightmare is being in the back seat of an out of control car speeding down the interstate.

Just recently I had a dream about my husband and I and a group of strangers being held hostage in a cargo plane, then the kidnappers bailed and we thought we were going to crash and die, but we ended up gliding to a stop in the water on the shore of some place in the Carribbean. What?

@iLove: If dreams predict the future? I`d say you & your spouse will have some hard times ahead, but not only endure them, you`ll prosper!

@Ani187: I HATE it when the brakes don`t work! Or the road starts to disappear, or the car starts to shrink or fall apart...

@TheZigRat: College, high school, elementary school even! I`ve been back to them all. Mostly high school. I cannot find my locker. If I do find it? I cannot remember the combination. If I remember it? My books aren`t in there anyhow.
Doesn`t matter because my report isn`t done and I had no idea we were having that big test today! lolz!

I have dreams where am late going somewhere, it stressful enough to wake me up. Am often late in real life for social meets, rarely for work or an important appointment

My favorite dream is where I found myself in a middle of carnage, lopped of heads & body parts everywhere. Everyone around were fighting with medieval weapons and a few were running away super scared. So am ducking & hiding and someone pops up right in front of me and I behead them with my Samurai sword.
Turns out everyone is scared of me! Am the one responsible for all the bloodshed. The whole thing looks like some video game set up.
Am not a gamer also a pacifist. So.....

The most frightening nightmare I have had happened as little boy. It wasn`t so much the water-skiing carrot that was scary it was the monotone voice in the background. I woke up screaming. I heard that voice about ten years ago and it all came rushing back. I must have blocked where I heard it because I can`t remember.

I have weird fecked up dreams (work nights so sleep is whacked out)
Sometimes I have dream were my legs stop working,
cant step over a kerb, some dreams like sutra46
Im in a mass of blood and carnage standing in blood and tissue, and Im just killing all and sundry,
the worst one is my Nan who died last year, she freaked with a massive vivid dream, I was sitting with my folks, in their home, and my dead nan walked in dead sunken eyes, the lot, my folks just said hello, but I just said ``your dead?`` and she suddenly swooped within a inch of my face and shouted `shut up``
Fecking chilled my bones for a long while

Something like that, I`ll still periodically have dreams that I`m late for a final, or late handing in an essay or that I haven`t attended one specific class and now I have a test or something. I haven`t been in school for years and I`ll still jump up out of bed sometimes and usually after I put on the first sock I realize I`m being duped. I don`t feel ashamed, if there`s one thing in this world that could fool me it could only be my own brain.

Mikeoxsbiggg, that`s crazy. I know a chick that does that often and once she woke up half dressed in her car trying to start it. Now she has a husband and kids and they keep an eye on the situation. Some of her stories are funny but others are really scary. I also, know a bunch of guys that wake up and piss on stuff.

@markust: Those are the worst types of bad dreams! YOU feel terrible, but it`s hard to explain why, exactly.

@ByOwlPost: Scroll down a bit, others have those!

@emmettyville: The bulls represent the masculine, and the lava the feminine. Drowning children represents the stress of them leaving home (eventually).

@Reignblazer: It means you don`t remember your dreams? My brother doesn`t. Like, 5 per year he`ll remember. I remember 5 every night!!

@Link_Hiei: Much like Tarot Cards, result vary wildly. Freud and others seriously thought dreams were important, but little evidence supports that. There`s too much "variety" in individuals to lump all dream symbolism into neat little pigeonholes.

@collegebound: First you were face down and "I can`t breathe!" then you rolled on your side and your pillow reminded you of teh boobehs? Subconsiously of course.

@ferdyfred: I`ve had all of those, but only falling a few times.

When my Dad died I`d have terrible dreams of him. He`d be walking around all gloomy and everyone was ignoring him because he was, you know, dead! It was very upsetting! Now I`m happy to see him (25+ years later) and he`s mostly normal.

@Sutra46: I sometimes kill people, but with guns not swords! That`s pretty cool! Do yours "stay dead" or do they sometimes get back up again?

@DecoyOctopus: Stress? I`m guessing your Afghan Dreams aren`t all "wine & roses" eh? Or are you happy to be with your old unit & buddies?

One thing I don`t do is sleepwalk, thank heaven!

I rarely remember dreams- but when I do they are so surreal they make NO sense when awake- they made perfect sense whilst waking, all I remember is how I feel. Except for when I was on Champix- then the dreams were vivid, multi coloured and amazing- the only time I have had such great dreams was going to sleep whilst on mushrooms.. an experience I thoroughly recommend if only the once!!

You`re welcome @Link_Hiei! I`ve tried several `dream books` and studied it a bit too. Also for Tarot cards (I give frighteningly accurate readings!) and the two have a lot in common.

@CoyoteKing: I often dream I`m returning to a job I`d held before. Sometimes 20+ years ago! Same old bosses, co-workers, store. It`s always weird though, which is kinda fun.

@madduck: And anyone who`s interested: Melatonin is a perfectly safe & cheap way to have more dreams (and sleep better too!). Over the counter, in 2, 5 and 10mg it`s 100% harmless! Even for children (2mg). I have more & better remembered dreams while taking it, plus it helps me fall asleep too! Bonus!

Wiki Says it might take high doses (50mg) to get really wild dreams, lolz!

Those dreams are about projecting where your current position leads versus where you`d like to be.
When I was younger, I was late and missing the test.
Now, if I have one of those, I`m late for giving a lecture...

@Sutra, given only what I`ve observed of you through writing, my guess is that`s actually about seeing things in others which you don`t like to see in yourself and attempting to correct them. Normally, I`d say "stop being your mother" but, for some odd reason, I`m tempted to say "don`t be like your father..."

Mikeoxsbiggg: Hopefully, you either opened a doughnut franchise or broke outta that f*cking rut. To test, try to remember which way you drove to and from work and who or what you saw.
    If you can`t remember...

I don`t really believe in the one size fits all psycho-analysis of dreams. For instance, all of the dreams I can recall in which I found myself nude while surrounded by the clothed are exceptionally liberating. Also, I adore spiders so spiders in my dreams bear positive associations.

@5Cats Its usually that im trying to get back to my unit somehow, usually lost or separated from them. I never actually see many of them. Most of the time something really bizzare happens, recently a nuke was detonated outside of baghram, and most recently I was drugged with thorazine and dropped off somewhere in country. Also, I use a melatonin/valerian root combo to help me sleep. Works wonders!

@Solvent: Well yeah, usually. But I`ve had many "deja vu" dreams that later came true, so I just can`t say they`re all "nothing" eh?
    Our minds are mysterious places!
There are many things in this world that science cannot (currently) explain!

@DecoyOctopus: Welcome to IAB! Great name btw.
That`s not too bad a dream. The "unreality" of it is a good thing! And wishing to re-unite or get someplace is fairly common.

I OFTEN dream I`m trying to get home to Winnipeg. I`m usually in Alberta or Saskatchewan (rarely in the USA or Ontario) and need to get home somehow. Usually driving (#1!) or flying. It`s not scary or disturbing, but it`s not "fun" either. Most times my family or friends are there too. Sometimes they`re helping, other times they`re in the way!

This thread is the most fun I`ve had in ages on IAB!

Why 5cats- you have a hidden hippie streak-
    @madduck: It`s not hidden, see?
    *lifts up shirt*
Look! It goes right across mah belly!
(I call it a "spiritual" streak, but hippie is correct too!)

@GeoGypsy: I agree! It`s so highly sub-jective that "guidelines" are almost useless.
Cats for example, are supposedly "bad". But when I see my beloved pets who`ve passed away:
    Sylvester & Rocky (most frequent)
    I`m overjoyed!

If that`s the -worst- nightmare you`ve ever had? You`re doing just fine, mate!

I`ve had nightmares that`d make your toes curl up, srsly, take any horror movie? Those are MILD compared to my "bad dreams"... I think I`ve seen 1 or 2 that come -close- to my nightmares. Happily they`re rare, but I`ll remember them forever.

Dreams are NOT all "fun and games" eh? There`s a lot of serious stuff going on.

I mean really! With science and everything! Growth hormones, memories, learning, it`s ALL tied into sleep and (therefor) dreams. True fact!

Nightmares True meanings are What they mean to you. There is alot of truth to dreams,Nightmares and Night terrors, Some have commmon meanings due to common experience but mostly their symbolism is based on individual experience and there fore highly subjective to the individual. A single "Common list can not explain the maajority of their meanings, but only in their most superficial way. Often more important in a dream/nightmare than what is going on is Who were the players. Who was doing what AND Who were only spectators.
