Short, sharp and to the point. His "bottom line" is the best reason of all.

@WhoSaidWhat, what if they just use an RPG while you sleep? If it`s the government they will probably just fly over and drug everyone - apparently con trails from planes are that being tested, add some to the water supply too, and the things you hadn`t even thought of... good luck anyway.

"Will we soon be driving around in tanks and keep grenades on our belts?"

Where do I pick mine up?

If you don`t want guns, then don`t have them. Just leave mine alone. You will never, and I mean NEVER,get rid of all the guns. After you try, there will still be plenty of them left, and the vast majority of them will be in the possession of crooks, murders, rapists, serial killers, etc. Sounds like a good idea, no?

Bottom line, when you idiots that want to do away with guns decide that you want mine, come try for them. Just keep in mind that you better bring plenty of backup, and they won`t all be leaving alive. Want my address (if you have the balls)? I`m not generally a violent person, but I can be when defending my rights, and the safety and well-being of myself and my family. I have no intention of being a victim. It can certainly still happen, but it won`t be because I stood idly by, like some want me to do, and did nothing.

I know your not your from the land of royal ball munchers which is about as bad as the French on the pussy scale. At least France had the sense to get rid of royalty over two centuries ago.

LOL they spent that fighting you and those number don`t sound right. You really seem to think everything was just dandy between you two if it weren`t for that pesky revolution ROFL!

`We don`t just roll over like your countrymen.`
Im not French, genius.
`5,000 Continental Navy `

well that`s the thing right there isn`t it?
Insignificant navy, and the French gave you the muscle where you needed it

As for their entry, they had been supporting the us with aid since 1776, as well as a large number of volounteer fighters.
In all they spent 1.3 billion livres to help you out.

Way to show respect though, real classy.

@dirtysteve00

US forces:
35,000 Continentals
44,500 Militia
5,000 Continental Navy

French forces:
12,000 French (in America)

Numbers are not your friend.
What happens if the law decides to take them, you going to go all Ruby Ridge?
From what I`ve been seeing the laws will refuse to obey such a demand. If they do it`s going to be and ugly process. We don`t just roll over like your countrymen.

` before the US stabilized Europe they were under the rule of one dictator or king or another.`
A bit like the US before the French helped you out?
`but it won`t get me to hand my guns over to your messiah. `
What happens if the law decides to take them, you going to go all Ruby Ridge?

You can pick nuts and bad sterotypes from either side but it won`t get me to hand my guns over to your messiah. Belive it or not you don`t have to agree with everything Obama says.

...so then dad can blow away his daughter when she sneaks in and he thinks it`s a home invasion, and little jimmy can shoot his own head off when he looks for a candy bar in the camping equipment, and border ranchers can fill a guy full of holes because he looked "Mexican", and the Katrina survivor can pop that guy who was checking the house to see if everyone was OK, and the union worker can start another union riot, and the school principle can shoot all the kids he wants when he snaps, and the lady living near a gun free zone can finally make her abusive husband pay!

Bottom line, we have been loosing freedoms like their going out of style and the only people doing the shooting are the ones you`re glad you`ve never met. The government doesn`t fear us because whenever a gun nut lifts his arms to defend his freedom, we get a new story of a crackpot with names "Ruby Ridge", and "The Oklahoma City Bombing".

Wait - you think the USA stabilized Europe post ww2?
Is this the same USA who decided to play chicken with the Soviet Union for 40 years using nuclear weapons rather than cars?

I love how all the Europeans condemn the 2nd amendment. I think its funny how 2 generations from Europe`s largest war they have forgotten that before the US stabilized Europe they were under the rule of one dictator or king or another. While they have had only maybe 150 years or democracy, we state side have had over 200. I think that maybe it might be because the American populous is a armed populous that has the tools to make the Government at least appear that it is truly democratic.

"Nobody needs and AR-15
Well, nobody needs a whiny bitch either, yet here you are"
- lol, I actually like that one

The Constitution was written after Shay`s rebellion ( a private militia) almost toppled the US government. I doubt that the founding fathers would have included legislation to legalize those actions.

Hey, I can list a bunch of far out anecdotes where there`s a slim chance that an assault rifle will be the most appropriate tool for the situation. Also, I can present lies as facts and you will soak them in because you`ve been programmed to do so.

UK loves to try to deem an AR-15 useless and not sutible for plebs while supporting a royal family. Spot the irony. You will not take mine and I`m far from the only person saying the same perhaps the divider and chief should listen to the people.

If it isn`t then, no, you don`t need guns to protect yourself.

All this schmuck is doing is spewing out the same outdated obsolete NRA logic they`ve been attempting to shove down the throat of common sense since the beginning. Hypothetical "government tyranny" scenarios & scare tactics. The NRA supports terrorists, coddles murderers, advocates the deaths of children & uses the grief of the American people for their own politican & monetary gain. And this idiot is doing nothing but lip-synching puppet Wayne LaPierre lyrics ad nauseum. Bottom line - If you ned a semi-automatic weapon that holds more than 10 rounds per clip & can fire off more rounds per minute than it can hold to go hunting, you`re obviously doing it wrong. Get yourself a slingshot & work your way up from there...

It`s called suppressing fire silly, you don`t need to actually hit the intruder to ward them off. Though a submachine gun would be just as effective.

I could say the same thing about rocket launchers, who is going raid a house with one of those pointed out a window. Does that mean we should all have them, not in my opinion. How bad of a shot do you need to be to need an automatic rifle, you burn through ammo much faster.

Ah, THAT`S why kids are so rude in Norway... we`re not an armed society! I`ll bet things are different over in the states!

Oh, and can I use the same arguments for getting tanks and mechanized infantry squadrons at my beck and call? Seems to me, that if one assault rifle can do all that, why not a tank and a personal army!?

Who needs rocket launchers? I`ll tell you who needs rocket launchers; the family who wake up to find Albanian farmers dressed as 18th century pirates recreating the Battle of Britain using combine harvesters in the corn field; ruining the winter crop.

Or how about the snooker club; faced with extinction by intergalactic warlords taking their snooker hall away and bankrupting the local building society using an elaborate ponzi scheme.

I`ll tell you who needs rocket launchers; it`s the group of friends out for a meal who suddenly find they`ve walked through a time rip and find themselves in Beijing in 1900 amidst the chaos of the Boxer Rebellion.

I`ll tell you soneboby else who needs to use a rocket launcher; it`s the Andorran Prime Minister Antoni Marti, he is an architect and sometimes he designs a building, realises the design is flawed and needs to knock it down quickly to build it again.

The bottom line - i like action movies

But don`t tyrants and despots usually put themselves in position, through their own private militia?

Unless you mean the "Greek tyrant" who is elected, but they didn`t consider that a bad idea...

Yes, klaxor, that`s exactly what they said.
They knew the only thing a tyrant or despot feared
was a well armed population.

Happy Gun Appreciation Day!!!

I don`t understand the argument of needing guns to defend against your own government. I doubt that the founding fathers would have said "feel free to shoot us if you don`t like what we`re doing".

But my submission for
NATIONAL GUN APPRCIATION DAY was not approved.
I submitted it 3 times and ignored and looked over
becuase getting an anti-gun post is easy at IAB, getting a pro gun post is much more difficult.

Well Happy Gun Appreciation Day to you anyway. :)

You have to listen to this from the perspective of a person who lives in a society where nobody he knows has never seen gun crime in his city, nor heard of anyone affected by it, to understand how dumb this all sounds.
