indisguise knows what`s up. Anyone who thinks this is stupid and wasteful needs to spend some time cleaning public restrooms. These things are genius and awesome.

What is the matter with you people? Just wipe the god damn seat with toilet paper for crying out loud.

Also, "And now I`m ready to take a huge sh*t"

Hilarious.

Ok, next time someone uses this, write something on the plastic and see if it comes around again.
Write: "It just rotates, you are fu cked"

I witnessed this first hand. I thought I was hallucinating when it kicked in automatically. Other than these, the airport is pretty much a bus station with security.

I`ve also seen these at the Detroit airport, they`re actually pretty cool...but I still chose the "hover maneuver"

That isn`t a dirty word in there. Tell the boy already.

But what they fail to mention is that the cover`s just a small circle of plastic, with two black lines on it. It just fits the seat and the mechanism just keeps turning it round.....Muahhahaha!!

I always bring my toilet seat from home. My ass is far too special to sit on the same seat as common slobs.

What? 2013 is the first time you`ve seen this? I wish they were all like this as some women (especially unspecified minorities) like to hover and spray like a cat.

Okay, indisguise, I`m convinced. :-) I`ve learned something new today, and I appreciate the explanation!

Smagboy - the plastic is largely recyclable. And I can totally dig where you`re coming from with just wiping the seat - it`s what I generally do in this situation. The problem is we have had a massive increase of people who come from countries where squat toilets are the norm and a lot of those people (women especially - trust me I know) don`t seem to want to use the toilet properly. They hover over the seat, and in some cases stand on it - I have entered stalls and found footprints on the seats. Then there`s the other folks who will insist on not setting their naked arse on a seat where other naked arses have sat before them. It`s completely stupid, yes, but the auto covers do eliminate a lot of the mess that used to happen in public restrooms. When we started using them, we noticed an immediate reduction in bathroom trash - especially on the floor - which some underpaid schmuck (me) used to have to clean up several times per shift.

Well, indisguise, for one thing, it`s plastic. Yards and yards of it, whether the person would normally use a cover or not. But, I will admit that you taught me something. As a guy, when I go to sit down, I just get about six inches of TP and wipe the seat. That`s it. Definitely don`t cover it. It`s a shame because it`s not like there`s tons of disease on those things. Oh well.

& to think digging a hole in the ground used to work fine, how did people cope before paranoia saved them from their sane existance?

How so Smagboy? Have you ever dealt with a public restroom (particularly a ladies restroom)? Before we had the auto covers, women would un-spool several feet of TP to fashion a seat cover. This created a ton of mess because when they were done they`d just get tossed on the floor - or worse yet - they`d clog the toilet trying to flush them. Then we had paper covers, which weren`t any better - they created more trash on the bathroom floor. These came along and well, they hold more covers than the boxes of paper held. The used section gets rolled up on the other side - eliminating all the mess on the floor of the stall, and as I recall, the used rolls were recyclable. (we had a recycle bin just for them) In the end, our restrooms were cleaner and needed less attention from the attendants.

Not even remotely new... I worked at a business five years ago that had this in all their toilets.

The toilets are like this at the Bloomington airport too.

This is new? I have been flying into Chicago for 20 years and was never impressed enough with this to feel it needed to be filmed.

Plus, it doesn`t make the bathrooms any more pleasant to use. They still smell of urine.

I fly out of O`Hare a lot. I always thought the toilets were awesome but I never thought to take a video of it. LoL

Yeah? They`re automatic toilet seat covers. They had them here at the casino I worked at 10 years ago. They`re less messy than paper seat covers.
