Posting a sign like this is code for rob me while i`m out so you can avoid annoying things like background checks, registration and of course paying for a gun.

Well, since the sign was obviously not made for any particular homeowner or any particular neighbor, it`s highly unlikely that any aggrieved gun-lover who buys this silly sign, that their neighbor actually wants to ban ALL guns. This is typical panty-twisting hysteria from someone who, with an over-active imagination, imagines their neighbor will need armed protection from some unknown, and even more unlikely, threat. Probably of the dusky-hued variety.

Aside from that, yes, whoever buys that sign is a dick.

markust123-"I have a problem with the sensationalist reporting of a bill that has zero chance of passing."

With the make-up of the Illinois General Assembly, it has better than a zero chance.

Senate: 35 Dem, 24 Rep
House: 64 Dem, 53 Rep

markust123-"their Benghazi witch hunt failed"

Only an idiot would consider trying to find the truth behind the cover-up of incompetent handling of an attack on an Ambassador a `witch hunt`. But heaven forbid anyone hold Obama accountable for anything:

"So, you have no problem that two such bills actually passed out of Illinois Senate Committee, but just that FoxNews (along with dozens of other outlets) actually reported such?"

I have a problem with the sensationalist reporting of a bill that has zero chance of passing. All the story was there for is to stir up emotion in their followers. And it being the second biggest story at the time with the headline "GUN CONTROL FIGHT: III Dems Seek Ban on all Modern Firearms." proves that. It`s no wonder Fox Viewers are freaking out so bad, It`s `Obama is going to take your guns part 2.0`. Didn`t happen after 2008 but why stop the scare tactics as long as it divides the country. Nothing gets Fox News ratings/readers like dividing the country. Besides they needed to find a good partisan issue since the elections are over and their Benghazi witch hunt failed.

I`ve never even heard of it, to be completely honest; I`m a pretty big hophead so I`ve probably just glanced over it and never given it a second thought. Now I`ll have to try it.

In my opinion, the best beer I`ve ever had was from a Wisconsin brewery in New Glarus. They had a limited edition release of a double-IPA that was unreal.

Next up, I think the 60-Minute IPA from DogFish Head is probably the best beer available all year.

For a seasonal, if you ever get the chance, Southern Tier makes a truely fantastic pumpkin ale called Pumpking that tastes like pumpkin pie. I swear that you can taste graham cracker and whipped cream; it`s awesome.

Here is your sentence, so that there is no confusion:
well the percentage to eventually kill one of their family by accident with a gun by a gun owner is 100% compared to the 0% of a non gun owner
Let`s break this apart, shall we? You say "the percentage to eventually kill one of their family by accident with a gun by a gun owner is 100%". What does this mean? This means that, according to you, every single gun owner will eventually accidentally kill one of their family members. If something is 100%, then it is absolute.

Then you say "compared to the 0% of a non gun owner".

The first statement is where you err. You claim that 100% of gun owners will eventually accidentally kill a family member. Clearly, this is incorrect.
you still fail to understand the logic of my sentence
Only because your sentence fails to be logical.

Let`s be even more consistent with your statement then, shall we?

Let`s assume half of the households have firearms and the other half don`t. The households without firearms have a 0% chance of being accidentally killed.

Using the numbers above, adjusted for half the population, that`s still only a 0.04% chance over the course of a life.

0.04 != 100. You`re still wrong...

@piperfawn

Challenge Accepted. Let`s do some Maths!

So, there are 313,914,000 US citizens (Google Public Data 2011). There are 851 accidental firearm deaths in the US each year (CDC 2011). So, a very simplified probability of being accidentally killed by a firearm each year is 1/368,877.

Let`s then consider average US lifespan: 78.2 years (Wikipedia). Assuming that the probability of being accidentally killed by a firearm in a year remains constant throughout your life (a very simplified explanation), then we have a 1/4,717 chance of being accidentally killed by a firearm throughout our lives.

This is a 0.02% chance. Your 100% chance is a bit off.

Of course, this is statistically simplified; the true result would need to account for population change, lifespan change, probability of death at an age... so on and so forth.
