Hilary Clinton "fainted" shortly before she was supposed to testify about Benghazi, iirc...

Yes, the format is annoying, but the facts remain: Obama and the White House spent several days telling outright lies about what happened. They either DID know what happened or should have known before repeating the lies. Then they tried to pretend they didn`t lie at all, and the "lapdog media" backed them 100%...

@Dr Professor: You hear it from their own lips: Susan Rice went on 4 or 5 TV shows JUST to lie about Benghazi.

They (the White House and the CIA) knew WHILE IT WAS HAPPENING exactly what was going on: a terrorist attack. No "mob" no "riot" nothing. It was a 7 hour long assault.

No tinfoil hat needed. (but I do lol at that pic every time)

Aren`t you the same people who ripped every single word Bush said apart, searching for the smallest, most tiny error?
You raked him over the coals even for things he didn`t actually say!

And here`s the current PotUS actively lieing about something he knew full well (or should have) about. AND sending others to repeat the lies for him. For a week.

THAT doesn`t bother you? Not even a little?

Damn strong kool-aid they`re serving on the left, eh?

I`m confused. This video shows that immediately after the attack they said it was a spontaneous demonstration. Then 10 days later, presumably after they got more information, they corrected themselves and said it was a planned attack.

Where are the coverup and lies? I don`t understand.

I don`t trust anyone, especially politicians. However I look at the benefit of lies. If someone lies I assume it served a purpose. In this case let`s say that the demonstration story WAS a coverup. How does that BENEFIT the administration?

The problem here is that the embassy wasn`t adequately protected. That is on the state department and the administration. That fault doesn`t change if the embassy is attacked by a demonstrating group, terrorists, or thai lady boys riding armored tigers.

The "lie" doesn`t make them look any better, so why lie?

"Yes, many of the stories Reps rattle around in their own echo chamber in order to frighten themselves, their children, and whoever is passing by their little street corner apple crate fail to gain momentum when exposed to a wider, non bats#it insane audience. The same stories that Fox or talk radio run with as signs of upcoming apocalypse (& there is always at least one, every damn week) often do not even pass the laugh test in less obsessively ideological circles. One might surmise, as most of that audience has, that it is because the rest of the entire world is wrong/and or in on all the conspiracies. Either that, or perhaps the recent Con conspiracies are all embarrassing, stupid and suck. Take your pick."- Hunter.

But by all means you guys, keep living in fantasyland. It makes the rest of the nation *much* less likely to vote for you in the future.

Info that turned out to be incorrect in word choice only. As soon as the accurate info was obtained, the correction was made public to ALL. Where was the conspiracy, coverup, incompetence, etc? Repubs seem to care more about blame than the fact that people actually died.

And I notice that no one had such an uproar (not even the Dems) when Cheney/Rumsfeld told Powell to report to the UN that Iraq was harboring 9-11 terrorists (wrong) and trying to obtain nuclear materials (9 year old information ... and wrong) causing us to go to war with the wrong country (intentionally). Even Powell was disgusted and humiliated by that. But no, let`s crucify a Dem for unknowingly misreporting "demonstration" instead of "terrorism".

But that`s okay Repubs, keep it up. Everyone can see that your becoming so extreme right conservative and self-serving that your voters and even your own party members are becoming more and more disgusted. Your party has peaked and will

Really? A Benghazi post? The Fox News witch hunt to stop the President from being elected? Sorry, it didn`t work then and you just look like idiots now bringing it back up. Outside of the Fox News bubble it was a horrible tragedy, a lesson on security and a magnifying glass on the joke that is conservative media. I laughed daily at the headlines on Foxnews.com as they tried for weeks upon weeks, angle after angle, with zero success. Sorry but the rest of the non-brainwashed US can tell when a story is forced. That is why it didn`t stick. You tried too hard Fox News. You are supposed to report the news not create it.

The "MSM is refusing to report on this" because it`s not a conspiracy or a cover-up. Listen to what Thomas Ricks had to say about the subject on Faux News. Notice how quick he ended that interview? They were called on their bullsh*t live on their own network. And how`d that Secretary Rice appointment work out Mr. Ricks ? Tired of my government lying to us.

If you want some really crazy conspiracy theory/cover-up sh*t to make your panties moist then you should watch Jesse Ventura. Season 3, Episode 3, called Time Travel will fill you in on all the details that you would probably believe without a doubt if you saw it on Faux News.

They say the gov`t has been using time travel for decades. Rumsfeld knew about the 9/11 attacks and had pictures "from the future" of the planes hitting the towers on 9/11/01 when he was working for the Nixon administration. All the US Presidents are selected 20-30 years in advance and they know about it and are trained to fool us during their "campaigns" so it looks like we vote them in. Some other guy who claims he`s a "Chrononaut" who travels in the secret time/space program and has a picture of himself at the Gettysburg Address. If you want to go crazy, might as w

    Typical!

It remains a fact: they lied for a week, all of them, then altered the story NOT on "new information" but because the facts were leaking out. Obama had the facts from day one and chose to lie.

Or was he talking about ANOTHER video which inspred a different mob? And we just misunderstood him (and Susan Rice, and Hilary Clinton) all those times?

@Cajun: lots of assets in the region, but almost nothing was done to help. Considering the attack lasted 7 hours? Aircraft, Marines and other forces could EASILY have been deployed before the 2 CIA guys were killed (in hour 5 iirc).

A CIA team made it to the airport, but had to wait several hours for "official escort".

"Spectre" gunships were nearby, those things are lethal. It`s speculated that the two CIA guys who died had returned to the Embassy in order to "highlight" the enemy for Spectres... which never came.

It was a disaster, no doubt about it. But just who is responsible? Obama isn`t telling, except to openly lie about what happened.

And Democrats, liberals and the MSM are just fine with that! Nothing to see here, move along!

@peakingo, "Actually becomes angry when MSM doesn`t report something, since you know that`s like the most trust worthy news network since FOX."

You are confusing MSNBC with MSM. The term MSM was created by Fox News to allow them to get away with their ridiculous sensational stories. They used repetition to burn the term into peoples heads until it was their own thought, "It has to be true. The main Main Stream Media isn`t reporting on it." or "Here`s something the MSM won`t report on..." It was a brilliant plan that worked and they started making lots of money, but in the process they ruined news forever. Soon MSNBC was following their format. Even CNN is starting to do sensationalism. Fox News really is the worst thing to happen to America. In a time when we needed unity they divided us. That doesn`t bother Rupert Murdoch in the least because he isn`t American.

From Wikipedia, "Sensationalism is a type of editorial bias in mass media in which events and topics in news stories and pieces are over-hyped to increase viewership or readership numbers. Sensationalism may include reporting about generally insignificant matters and events that don`t influence overall society and biased presentations of newsworthy topics in a sensationalist, trivial or tabloid manner."

What Fox News uses to get their followers to believe the spin is Proof by Assertion or as they call it in the military, brain washing, "Proof by assertion, sometimes informally referred to as proof by repeated assertion, is an informal fallacy in which a proposition is repeatedly restated regardless of contradiction. Sometimes, this may be repeated until challenges dry up, at which point it is asserted as fact due to its not being contradicted. In other cases, its repetition may be cited as evidence of its truth, in a variant of the appeal to authority or appeal to belief fallacies."

Perhaps I`m missing it, but can someone explain what the actual point being made in this video is?

A US Embassy got attacked. Some people phucked up. Some people died. Politicians covered their arses rather than recognised what could and should have been done better, thereby setting the stage for the next phuck up. I`m sorry if it`s news to you, but as any squaddie or public sector employee will tell you, none of that is unusual, particularly where the government/military is concerned.

Proof by assertion definition continued, "This fallacy is sometimes used as a form of rhetoric by politicians, or during a debate as a filibuster. In its extreme form, it can also be a form of brainwashing. Modern politics contains many examples of proof by assertions. This practice can be observed in the use of political slogans, and the distribution of "talking points", which are collections of short phrases that are issued to members of modern political parties for recitation to achieve maximum message repetition. The technique is also sometimes used in advertising. An example is a quote by Lenin "A Lie told often enough becomes the truth."

@MacGuffin - Thank you, that is exactly where I was going next. I`d like to know how many of these people who are so "outraged" over this and the possible cover-up/confusion have either served in the military or worked in government in any way, shape or form. If any of them did, they`d have working knowledge that it`s not as black and white as they seem to think. Whenever something "bad" happens there`s always an immediate CYA reaction and damage control and you know your part as to what you can/cannot say or do.

Oh yeah, you should also stop and think about this for a minute. When sh*t like this happens and the public is kept in the dark or "lied to" as you you say, there`s usually a good reason for it. With the internet and information being so readily available there`s a good chance that if they come out and announce there was a vulnerability/weakness found that information can then be used by an enemy to conduct more attacks in other places until that weakness is fixed.

Weirdly enough, I think he meant the exact opposite of what he actually said. I think the intent is that if you repeat a crazy idea often enough, some people will start to accept it. But that`s not what the quote says at all.

@MacGuffin: Because UK Prime Ministers lie all the time, and no one thinks it`s a problem over there? Hummmm.... NOT!

@WhoDat: Why are "we outraged over this" and not other things?
#1 This is so blatent and easy to prove, it`s amazing they even tried to lie!
#2 Because the MSM is caught in the same web they gleefully drop on "right wingers"
#3 Because it`s the PRESIDENT! ANY President who did this should be dragged in front of the higest court possible to explain him/her self!
FFS! Skin colour is not an issue!

...there`s a good chance that if they come out and announce there was a vulnerability/weakness found...
@WhoDat: Now YOU are just making up bullshiite!
IS it like when the New York Times published secret spy info and endangered every US operative in the world? That was while Bush was PotUS so it`s OK then?

There was NO "secrets to protect" about security because there very nearly WAS no security! It was reported on the news how "local security forces" being used had abandoned their posts. What in heaven are you saying man? Obama protected national security by saying their was a (non-existant) riot?
    Head + shake!
    LOLZZ!

@5Cats - That`s not bullsh*t, you`re just f*cking retarded, take the tinfoil hat and the blinders off. I served 8 years in the Marine Corps, I`ve been to war, I know how it works. If you go around broadcasting any weakness in a defensive position or anything like that the first thing an enemy will do is exploit that weakness. That`s not bullsh*t, it`s called being smart and not letting information out that could possibly put the lives of other people in jeopardy. Once you fix that weak link in the chain then no one cares who knows about it because it`s no longer a problem. Get your head out of your a$$.

I`m done wasting my time with you and listening to your nonsense. You have no first hand knowledge of how a government/military operates which is clearly the reason why you actually believe the steaming pile of sh*t that comes out of your mouth.

You are so predictable - focus on a misstatement and ignore all the rest. I reread my comment after I sent it. I was going to fix the "Fox News came up with the term" but Wikipedia didn`t say who or when it was created. But I looked into it because I knew you would latch onto that.

@markust: Admits to deliberate trolling = nice!

@WhoDat: Decides he cannot understand why the Government is not allowed to lie to it`s own people.
Utterly ignores the duplicity of the MSM based on Repub (Bush lied! People died!) vs Dem (Obama and his friends saved Libya! Syria? Where`s that?) and nothing else.

Of course IF there were some secrects to protect it`s the PotUS`s job to do so. In THIS situation what possibible "secret" needed to be kept for a week? The CIA didn`t even secure the site, a TV reported wandered in days later and found documents laying everywhere, ffs.
Especially when other sources (like the head honcho of Libya) were already telling the truth.

The only "secret" is: What did Obama know and when did he know it?
The White House is blocking this story with all it`s might. Most Transparent President Ever!

Not talking about the media at all, talking about the fact that at times, lies & deception are a necessary evil in order to avoid putting others in danger. It`s really not a hard concept to grasp, it`s like your girlfriend asking you if her a$$ looks fat in her new jeans. Even if it does, you tell her "No baby, looks good on you" in order to avoid the obvious consequences of telling her "Yes dear, your a$$ does look fat in those jeans. You should try getting on the treadmill a few times per week."

I think you need to re-read the quote again MacGuffin. It is saying exactly what you said. He just used the word absurd instead of crazy.

Is this one of these perversions of the English language, like when you say "I could care less", and are oblivious to the fact that you are indicating the opposite of what you believe yourself to be indicating?

@MacGuffin, "Is this one of these perversions of the English language, like when you say "I could care less", and are oblivious to the fact that you are indicating the opposite of what you believe yourself to be indicating?"

I`ll add an explanation inside the quote. maybe that will help, "There`s nothing so absurd that if you repeat it (the absurd statement) often enough, people will believe it."

Why on the main page, looking at the title and description of the post, did I immediately know that it was one of three IAB`ers that posted this?

    Yep - I was right.

    @markust:

You didn`t need to explain anything, I understood the statement fine. The quote was there to read only a few lines below, and it STILL says what I alleged. i.e. :

"THERE IS NOTHING so absurd" (= no thing exists that is absurd enough)

"...that if you repeat it often enough, people will believe it." (= nothing exists that fits this definition)

Changing the order of the clauses without changing what they`re saying makes it clearer where the error is grammar is. This statement may be re-stated as:

"No statement exists that may be repeated enough times and is absurd enough for people to believe it."

It`s clear from the context that the quote intends the opposite. i.e., it intends to say:

`There ARE some absurd statements that exist, that if you repeat them often enough people will start to believe them.`

But that is clearly *not* what he says.

Wow MacGuffin. No wonder you come up with such bizarre rebuttals and make people so angry. You see things that aren`t there and read things that in no way resemble what people are actually saying. The translations you gave for the quote left me completely baffled. I don`t even know how to respond. Let me guess, in school you got a lot of word questions incorrect because you read them a different way, and when you received the results you argued and argued with your teachers about what their questions were actually asking?

The best part (which the video doesn`t mention) is when Hillary played sick to avoid testifying about Benghazi. One of our illustrious "leaders" malingering like a kid trying to get out of a test at school. Shameful. Yet Americans don`t care.
