@JaLacaob: I wondered about that, but notice that an image from the correct video briefly displays before changing to the wrong video. Not sure what happened.

Clearly, all missing the point of the video.

I dont see the problem, dead cops is a good thing!

and how many police officers have been killed in that time frame by people without a concealed carried weapon permit?

Let`s see, 11 murders in 5.5 years...that`s 2 per year...divided by 10 million CCW permit holders in the US...that`s an annual rate of 0.02 murders per 100,000 CCW permit holders per year.

Compare that to 5.3 murders per 100,000 for the general population over the same period of time, and you find that CCW permit holders are 265 times LESS likely to commit a murder than the general population.

Suck it, libs.

WTH? I didn`t see any `experiment video` instead this loaded a CCW cop killer video.

Post Fail, and by the comments I`ve seen, it`s a bunch of anti-gun BS anyways.

this is crap. if you just look on line you will find many reports of crimes stopped by an armed civilian. i would love to see a retaliation video to this.

After seeing what was supposed to posted:

1. Having a CCW does not make you a cop or obligate you to protect those around you.

2. The position of the hidden gun on his waist is impractical. It is too far forward on his waste.

3. In a high stress scenario, you will regress to the lowest level of mastery. This kid had no practice drawing his weapon, nor was he menatally prepared to control his reaction to the situation at hand.
First and foremost, CYA. Get to cover or concealment. Getting under the desk should have been his first move.

Gerry, y you make sense so much?

Also why did they put the test subject in such a confined space? There was barely enough room to stand up without falling over, so it is not so shocking that they might have a difficult time getting their weapon out. Although there are no guarantees that you will have plenty of space, in a crisis, it does add bias to the experiment.

(referring to the actual link submitted by FP, read the comments if you don`t know what this means)

I have a few problems with this experiment:

1. The shooter was a trained Police instructor, who as others have pointed out knew who had the gun, and where they were seated (front and center btw).

2. Most insane mass shooters will have had about as much experience as someone with a CCW, and would probably react in a similar fashion when confronted with resistance. Actually they would probably be caught off guard because they would not expect someone who is not an officer to pull a gun.

2. The test subject was given a gun with fake bullets, which they knew were fake, So their instincts should have told them to flee or hide, making this whole scenario suspect at best. At the very least the test subject would think this was part of the test, and probably would not know they are supposed to fire back.

Good grief now you gun control freaks are just grasping at straws. This is a clear cut case of selective bias.

So?

How many law abiding, licensed drivers have killed people?
Will we ban cars next?

WOW OMFG MAN! They killed ELEVEN people in FOUR years that is quite the figure isn`t it...

Tired of seeing dead children on tv and people yapping about how their idea for gun control is best. When a bus crashes and kills 50 it makes the news for a day or 2 when someone kills 20 kids with a gun it is the end of the world and we need new laws amazing.

@McGovern: Ok, there`s an example of an incident in which concealed carry worked. Part 2 of the video I linked to cites examples in which it didn`t work. The point is that everyone reacts differently.

The only thing I have wrong with the "experiment" they did was that not only did the subject sit in the same spot every time, but the "gun man" knew where the subject was going to be! It gave a great disadvantage to the subject.

@DrProfessor: That`s a good question. I don`t know if the shooter was told, though they seemed to be in the same seat every time so he would have figured it out quickly. Like I said, not scientific, though the experiment was designed more to test the reaction of the trainee.

This is why I have always leaned away from the idea that a civilian carrying concealed could help stop a spree shooting. Combat shooting is not target shooting.

So...this is an argument against concealed weapons permits?

11 officers in 5 years? How many have been killed by those without permits?

And fwiw, I am NOT taking that side of the issue...just saying...it isn`t the strongest argument to make.

@foolsprussia: I like the actual video a lot better, although I feel like the experimental technique could use some tweaking. The "shooter" shouldn`t know which of the students have the gun. It seems like every time they knew exactly who to target. In a real event, there would be some element of uncertainty.

Of course, it`s possible that this was the case and that they were just ready to fire on whoever went for the gun. If this is the case, I think this experiment is extremely telling of realistic shooter scenarios.

And as I said, it`s not a scientific experiment, but rather an explanation of how differently your mind reacts in a crisis.

Also, and this is true, there is no record of anyone with a carry permit that has been convicted of murder, ever.

Soooo, what`s this video all about then?

you posted this to troll those of us who believe in the right to bear arms...

i have a ccw... i am a ex-police officer... when i wore the badge i never feared a armed citizen ccw holder or not.... i worried about armed criminals...

this idiotic video takes the deaths of these officers out of context...

11 since 2007?!

Oh my good Lord! The danger is palpable!

Conceal carry is the best way. Open carry is for stupid blowhards with no penis.

You guys are so quick to judge here. The point is not to prove people aren`t responsible enough to carry concealed weapons. It`s about explaining how different a dangerous situation is.

11 out of how many actual owners?

Ugh. Here I thought this would actually be an experiment. You know, maybe something designed to test whether people with guns are actually capable of making a difference in crisis situations.

You know, something that actually matters in this debate, instead of finger-pointing and mud-slinging.
