This is why I can`t trust Presidential candidates who don`t like to travel. It clearly shows they have no interest in experiencing how other people live. If they have no interest in other cultures and learning new and sometimes better ways they definitely won`t have an interest in learning about the different needs of all our citizens.

He finally makes a good point: We have to include "those in power" in ANY social change.
So far: "The Left" had simply demonized them, blamed THEM (whoever "they" may be) for all the world`s problems. ie: NOT empathy driven.

THEN he starts going off about AGW. YES he means HUMAN driven, not natural. ie: he`s an idiot.

THIS is the ultimate "liberal" CONCEIT That "if only" people were educated enough (ie: smart like them!) they`d totally, 100% agree with their PERFECT wisdom.
Obamanaughts are the worst for this...

9:20 Nothing new, the concept of "naked lunch" has been around for a while. Burroughs, Kerouac & Ginsberg, eh?

Meh, it`s a fine idea, but since no one is actually willing to DO any of that?

Poor Laurel was hooked up to that machine.

So this video is a total "fail" in that it`s filled with sweet-sounding platitudes and vague "let`s change the world!" hippie-talk. No actual substance or plan of course!

No wonder certain "liberals" loved it (@QZ, @FP) it`s right up their "mental alley"!

Ultimate "liberal conceit" is something others thought up, not me. However I see it ALL the time! Every time someone demands we "stop the seal hunt" or to "ban guns"? I see an idiot who wants to "feel good" about something and doesn`t CARE who gets hurt because of it...

    No nuclear power?
    Refuse the cruise?
    Bush lied people died?
    Feed the world?

ALL said by idiots. And when they DO get their way? Someone ELSE has to try to fix the twisted, terrible results.

"@markust: I laughed more because poor Laurel was hooked to that machine."

I didn`t even notice that was Laurel. That makes it even funnier.

Your one sided rant demonizing liberals is a perfect example of why the world needs more empathy. Being a conservative or a liberal is a made up idea. We are all liberal about some things and conservative about others. If you stepped outside your bubble you would find that we are all just people. Maybe we need our own version of Hello Peace where people brainwashed by conservative media can talk to people brainwashed by liberal media so that they can learn that we really are not that different.

Sooooooo basically what you`re saying 5Cats is that I`m a compassionate, tender hearted intellectual who can place myself behind someone else`s eyes and feel like they do?

Universities are full of "well traveled" rich kids who spend 3 months abroad and suddenly become "worldly". I shouldn`t matter if a President likes to travel, it`s not like he has the time to integrate in the local populace. Heck, if he`s American he should be focusing on American interests.

People and their cultures are very intricate and complicated things. You can`t really pick up on that simply by traveling. To a certain extent, you have to born in a culture to truly understand it. That`s what liberals tend to forget about. You have to literally LIVE in another person`s situation to understand their life, otherwise the rhetoric can come of as sounding like "white man`s burden", at least to me.

This is a very good video, he`s right that we make too many assumptions and have too many prejudices that prevent us from seeing each others uniqueness and individuality. You see it every day, people are quick to use labels rather than nurture their curiosity, or who feign it. We can all do our part at erasing the imaginary walls we think divide us by working empathy into our lives a little bit every day.

A major hurdle we do face though, are the ones with money and power who hold power over us, and guide us to use labels, or live by assumptions and prejudices. They may portray this through many outlets, such as news reports, entertainment, or even their own leadership and our governments. While i`m on board with what he has to say, it`s really going to take next to a miracle for the people of the world to really see we all have strengths, we are all unique, and we are all a special piece of the whole jigsaw puzzle.

Sorry 5Cats, but the people have spoken. This is currently running at 3.7/4 (92.5% approval rating). Much as they did last month in the US elections. This is the way the world is moving forward, like it or not. There`s a reason that people who are not like you are called Progressive.

@QZ: I`m a walking "emapthy machine"! I have to stop and think things through or I`d "try to help" all day long!

Example: I don`t give money to beggers (anymore).
Why? Because #1 they probably earn more begging than I do working, #2 there`s TONS of shelters & support for every needy person in my city & #3 they`ll likely spend it on pizza and beer.
I found the "campsite" of a group of professional beggers (3-4 of them and a dog, they travel form city to city & beg) literally beer cans in every direction & take-out boxes everywhere... must have been $30 worth in deposit, but they were too lazy to take them back! (10 cents a can, eh?)

Just one example, but ALL the people who support their lifestyle THINK they`re "helping" them. Sorry, they "feel they are helping".

Feel, think, act. In that order.

@davymid: Where`s all the "empathy" for my position? Why do those liberals give me a 1 without even glancing at the material?

Could it be that *gasp* they`re all hypocrites?

If the world were run strictly on "majority rules" you know full well what would happen. 1984 would look mild compared to the "liberal hell" we`d find ourselves in.

There`s a reason Conservatives like "rule of law" while liberals like MAKING more laws (and then getting to chose which laws apply to whom...).

True Fact: A Liberal (Canadian Political Party) member proposed some jack-arsed law which potentially could make many thousands of average Canadians `criminals`. When asked about it he replied: "Oh that won`t happen! It won`t be enforced!"

(He just wanted to "feel good" about "doing something" get it? Typical Liberal.)

I don`t think you need everybody in the world to see everyone`s strenths as much as to consider the cost of things. To get people, and I am from the U.S. so that is the only place that I can speak for, to understand that they willingly and enthusiastically perpetuate a cycle of destruction that only benefits them so far as the stuff they have. It is this understanding of the people that make the stuff that would re-establish some kind of humanity to people in America and get them to ask who made this under what conditions and for how much.

Or you could just not care and keep living in the psychological paradise of America and all of its brand names.

I don`t really know if there is much of a party difference in America except for who gets their money from where. I am sure that there are many examples of liberals in America making bad decisions. But I think the video was talking about how to find yourself through looking at how other people live and the work they do, atleast in the beginning of the whole empathy shift.

Also, way to go on the helping people, I think that is pretty cool 5cats.

!isthiswherei: You mean: Feel - Think - Act?

Thanks! Liberals almost always leave out the "think" part. They utterly fail to think about the consequences, or what the best course of action may be.
Just "it feels good" and act on that.
