There is a lot more to this than the video states.

A discharge petition is used as a way to get around a committee report and force a vote on a bill without the committees leadership agreeing to it. This bill, as is, would also raise taxes on small businesses, which this video failed to mention.

I have a better idea: Cut the pay for ALL elected leaders in Washington by 55%, and cut all of their benefits completely. Their remaining 45% of pay can be earned on a sliding scale based on results- not promises- results.
In my business, I would continue to employ a worker that performs as badly, nor would I do business with suppliers and vendors who are as incompetent as these yahoo`s are.
They work for us, it`s time to set them straight. We can`t do that by tsk tsking them with petitions and other nonsense. We do that by treating them like British tea.

    OldOllie`s Plan:
    1. Bitch about Obama when he doesn`t something wrong.
    2. Bitch about Obama when he does something right.
    3. Bitch about socialism, except when it suits his personal needs and agenda.
    4. Bitch about Obama some more.

Good, I`m glad he didn`t sign it. A discharge petition is a petition to discharge the rule of committee review. If passed the House rules dictate that members move directly into consideration of the bill itself and stops debate for the rest of the legislative year, effectively giving the democrats full control. The republicans want to keep the tax cuts for the middle class, they want to keep tax cuts for everyone, the democrats are the only ones talking about increasing taxes, and if they don`t get their way and we go over the cliff then the bush-tax cuts are stopped and taxes are raised on everyone, exactly what they want, but without the blame. 15 of the 54 democrats who voted for this crap also voted with the GOP in August to kill a Senate-passed proposal extending the Bush-era tax rates only on income below $250,000. A.K.A they flip-flopped because they knew it wouldn`t get threw since it is extremely rare only 2 in 563, but they knew it would create bad press for the republicans.

This isn`t compromise, debate, or talking about the issues, it`s just party rhetoric, political grandstanding, and a push to silence opposition.

@RobSwindol, I never bitch about Obama when he does something right, because so far, he`s never done ANYTHING right. And I`ll bitch about socialism every time it comes up, because it NEVER suits my personal needs and agenda.

If you don`t understand how tax policy affects unemployment, you shouldn`t be allowed to run loose in Wal-mart, let alone vote.

Wow. One party member says he`s not going to give control of the floor to the other party. That`s got to be a first. Of all time. Nice find.

OldOllie: You sound like it`s 50`s and you`re scared of communism.. I think you`ve confused socialism with communism, there are issues that are solved better with socialism and issues that free market does best and the mix between the two is not only possible, it`s most likely the best choice we have.

Ignoring that fact is one-stop-short from stupid. You even admit that it`s not your objective opinion but just because it serves you good. That`s mighty selfish of you.

@OldOllie- Do you own a business? I do. I employ, at any given time, around 60 people.
The problem with most folks who don`t like "Obamacare"- as I see it- is greed for the sake of greed.
Why don`t we offset your chicken little the-sky-is-falling fears by cutting Military spending by 80%? Cut our foreign aid completely?- nobody likes us anyway.

Yes, I do, but I gave up having employees 30 years ago. It wasn`t worth the hassle then, and I can`t even imagine what it would be like now. With my current business, I can contract with other companies for anything I can`t or don`t want to do myself. It saves me time, money, and headaches in the long run.

And if nobody likes us, how come we take in more immigrants than the entire rest of the world COMBINED? It doesn`t even make sense, which, of course, is typical of liberal thinking.

If you cut the pay of elected officials, the only people who would run for office would be crooks who would make their money through bribery and graft. We should pay elected officials enough to attract honest and competent people who won`t have to whore themselves to special interests to be able to maintain two homes and fly back and forth between them.

CK, you`re confused if you think there really is a difference between socialism and communism. Did you somehow forget that the USSR was the Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republics, or that the Nazis were the National SOCIALIST Workers Party? Socialism, Communism, and Fascism are just different names for the same basic philosophy of state supremacy -- it`s a distinction without a difference. If there is a difference, it`s only in the degree to which it is implemented. You can have watered-down democratic socialism or full-strength totalitarian socialism, but regardless of whether you drink your whiskey with water or straight up, you`re drinking the same thing, and you`re going to have the same hangover in the morning.

And there is absolutely NOTHING that is solved better with socialism. Every single failure that you attribute to capitalism is caused by the intrusion of socialism and central planning into the capitalist system. Name three, and I`ll prove it to you.
