Looks like the only thing the media cares for is ratings and money. It`s a good thing they aren`t corrupt or we might all be brainwashed or something.

Maybe they should push gun control laws down our throats next because we all know that`ll prevent this sort of thing from ever happening again. If we made guns illegal, just like drugs, then no one would have them and the world would be a much safer place. Christ..

Can`t argue with this. The Connecticut school shooting came only 3 days after the Oregon mall shooting.

I agree completely. However, I don`t think this is a money issue. This is a viewer issue. People are going to rubberneck over stuff like this. Media outlets see it as a responsibility to give as much information to the public as possible. News channels simply haven`t learned reservation. And that makes since. There`s no need to withhold information regarding less-violent occurrences. This isn`t about ratings; it`s about ideology and ignorance in the media.

I don`t think it`s any secret to the regulars on here that I despise 24 hour cable news.

The News Media is just a parasitic worm feeding on the despair of other people. All with a biased opinion only to get the viewers attention and raise their ratings in the process.

From my point of view it seems that recieving news on the internet (including I-A-B) pratically gives it at face value and gives us more room to form our own opinions rather than some caked face news reporter hamming up a "tragic" incident.

Which is what I`ve been saying for quite some time...
It`s nice when the "experts" agree with me!

The MSM has hidden agendas: one is "gun control" so you`ll almost NEVER hear stories on how a gun saved someone`s life, but ALWAYS hear "gin violence" stories. It`s a fact. "They" decide what is and is not "news"...

Considering the glaring ignorance you have shown here on so many occasions, this comes as no surprise. BTW, where do you get your news? The Daily Show? MTV? Redit?

Every murder and every sex crime and every robbery should be reported on the news in FULL detail. So many people want to pretend that stuff like this does not happen. How else can we protect ourselves? Knowledge is power.....

I was just chatting with the roomie this evening, saying they shouldn`t even name the shooters! Just call them The Murderer or even Codename: Crap Pile so that the vision of going-out-in-a-blaze-of-glory and publicity potential mass shooters revel in dissolves into anonymous disgust. Make it a law that no photos and no ID go out over the air. No fame if nobody knows who you are.

    There is truth in this.

I remember coming home from school back in 2001 ( the 9/11 attack) and the news saying "World War 3 has just begun"

Sensationalizing everything to get more views. I guess information really is a commodity.

These news people must know by now what this psychiatrist is saying is true but why let that get in the way of an exciting show?

He is of course assuming that man will someday understand everything. If man is never able to understand everything then how is everything explained?

Why exactly do we have to know about this? If it`s not going to result in a change in law (second amendment) or government (any local/state politician with culpability for failing to act or leglislate), then making a big deal out of it will only create repeats.

I remember my first thoughts after Columbine: If I got everyone who p_ssed me off during my life in one room, and all I had to do is to press a button and kiss us all, would it be worth it? Thankfully I concluded no. Others evidently concluded otherwise.

You can have freedom of the press and freedom to bear arms, but when the media and gunmen (or in this case their law abiding parents) won`t behave sensibly, then you will have to take this sort of thing on the chin once in a while.

Black Swan Theory, Draculya. Even when we know better (for example, that violent crime has been decreasing for over two decades and that almost no one, statistically speaking, is killed in mass shootings, we still assign events like this HUGE significance. It`s in our nature, I guess?).

why is America so ridiculous? What will it take to get it through you heads that guns are the problem. A persons right to life and right to safety truimph unequivocally over the freedom to become a lethal killer at the drop of a hat.

Since your education system has been so degraded and your health has rotted your brains, you have lost the ability to understand and can only believe. Because your society main way of functioning is a massive con game, the majority of you are just blind fools. It`s your fault this happened.

"What will it take to get it through you heads that guns are the problem."

Guns are not the problem. Access to guns isn`t the problem. The problem is that people want to kill other people. Why not fix THAT?

A gun is a thing. Like a knife or a can of pepper spray or a sword or poison, or chemical weapons, or bombs or baseball bats or any rope-like thing you can choke someone to death with like a tie or an electrical cord or a belt or poisonous gas or a crossbow or a fire or acid or brass knuckles or axes or scissors or nun-chucks or a screwdriver, or chain saw or narcotics, or a nightstick, or a an ice pick, or a taser, or a car, or.... Guns are not the problem. People, crazy, whacked out people, are the problem. You wanna pass laws how about better laws to track the truly at-risk dangerous nut bags of the world?
