Solomon Linda got $5 for writing "The lion sleeps tonight"

Henrietta Lacks got diddly squat for the use of her cells in biological research

The list goes on and on...The difference is that this guy doesn`t sound like he really cares.

Wasn`t it a kid who designed the current US flag too? Or so I remember from an episode of Pawn Stars.

Lets put things in perspective, a logo design while artistic, doesn`t contribute very much to the recycling process. now, if he designed how to crush/shred/sanitize/reuse aluminum cans, then he deserves more money.

If you put a value on everything based on contribution, the world would be a mess. Would I be happy to have my logo well known, and paid $2,500 today? Yes. Should I come up with an excuse of deserving more or none. No. Leave it as is.

@g3n3r1k: Problem is, how would you even prove you drew it. If I claimed I had made that logo people would just roll their eyes and say "oooooookay."

patch: Exactly my thought! How frustrating would it be to got thru life, even apply for a job, and your biggest claim to fame would instantly discredit you? "I designed the Nike swoosh, y`know. It`s mine."
"Really? How interesting. Oh, look at the time..."

this really isn`t how a student designed it, it`s more just a picture of two people looking at it.

$2500 would be a damn good fee for a single designer doing a single logo design *today*, let alone whenever the logo was actually designed. That sounds like a pretty impressive competition prize, rather than an actual design fee (which would have been MUCH less).

considering that by today`s standards, adjusting for inflation, that $2,500 in 1970 is actually worth 14280.82 in 2011 anyways. So don`t feel so bad for the guy.
