Pot is legal as long as it is free? Excellent! Finally my EU passport has a use.

Someone from Europe who gets it!!! They call it a "assualt rifle" because that makes it "EVIIILLL" and you can push an agenda easier.

>AR-15
>assault rifle
Pick one.
The AR-15 is not an assault rifle, because it`s only semi-automatic. For it to count as an assault rifle it would need to be fully automatic (like the military M-16). And fully automatic weapons are far more regulated, far more expensive (because of regulations), and far harder to get legally than weed.

@auburnjunky - all weapons firing on full-auto are less accurate, even mounted in fixed positions or on tripods. That`s why you fire bursts, and also so you don`t overheat & destroy the barrel. Some people like that sh*t, just spray & pray, I prefer accuracy, quality over quantity.

Oh, btw, I also almost took a fireball to the face when I was still half-asleep and groggily opened up the door to see wtf was going on. Let enough heat in in the time it took me to duck and slam the door back shut to melt the smoke detector off my ceiling. Apparently I can still be quick even if I`m stupid.

Lol listy Yeah, maybe if they just made it so you have to take appetite suppressants any time you smoke pot, I wouldn`t have had to deal with that poo of a few years, either.

Slotherder, my experiences are the other way round... I`ve never had any weed related mishaps or life-threatening situations, but I have been threatened directly with firearms...not including the military where it was expected, as a civvy I`ve twice been threatened with legally owned guns - once in the UK off a guy who legally owned a shotgun and didn`t like me being sarcastic to him when he was drunk so went home and got it and the other time was when I lived in the US with my then girlfriend and I`d made a joke to a drunk guy in a bar and I went out the side for a smoke when the doormen came running round to warn me the guy had come back with his gun because he`d taken the joke badly.

Actually now I think about it, it`s sarcasm to drunk guys that`s the danger not the guns.

I haven`t had any direct issues with armed people threatening me in my life (to date). I have had my apartment building burn down due to someone getting stoned, getting the munchies, deciding to make french fries, putting oil on the stove, then passing out. I had to jump out the second story window into a tree to climb down, then catch my mother, who happened to arrive late that night for a quick visit, and who also landed half in a bush, puncturing her ankle and breaking her calcaneus on a branch. Anecdotal, yes, but still, a pretty clear example of a person whose experiences ironically support the legal situation.

There are ways around everything. Ever hear of this little ingenious invention called a SSAR-15 Bump-Fire Stock? Since you`re technically just bump-firing the weapon, it`s a perfectly legal modification that pretty much gives you full-auto capability.

"Military firearm that is chambered for ammunition of reduced size or propellant charge and has the capacity to switch between semiautomatic and fully automatic fire."

Civilian use AR-15s cannot switch between full auto and semi auto. They are semi auto only.

dm, "Military firearm that is chambered for ammunition of reduced size or propellant charge and has the capacity to switch between semiautomatic and fully automatic fire."

I think what AJ may be getting at is that I don`t think the AR15 is capable of switching to full auto and is technically not an assault rifle due to that.... in fact I think that`s the reason why it was made as a totally separate weapon to the M16 which is full auto capable and very obviously an assault rifle.

btw, I`m not a gun nut...I`m not in favour of large scale gun ownership like AJ is - but I used to handle assault rifles for work and know full auto capability is part of the definition... like it shows in your quote. I may be remembering wrong about the AR15 being semi auto only though and i`m sure someone will help me out and correct me if I am.

In my state (Washington), full-autos are illegal, even with the Federal license to own one.
But pot is now legal!

@auburnjunky
like i always tell you read more

Definition of ASSAULT RIFLE
: any of various automatic or semiautomatic rifles with large capacity magazines designed for military use
(Concise Encyclopedia)
Military firearm that is chambered for ammunition of reduced size or propellant charge and has the capacity to switch between semiautomatic and fully automatic fire. Light and portable, yet able to deliver a high volume of fire with reasonable accuracy at modern combat ranges of 1,000–1,600 ft (300–500 m), assault rifles have become the standard infantry weapon of modern armies. Their ease of handling makes them ideal for mobile assault troops crowded into personnel carriers or helicopters, as well as for guerrilla fighters engaged in jungle or urban warfare. Widely used assault rifles are the U.S. M16, the Soviet Kalashnikov (the AK-47 and modernized versions), the Belgian FAL and FNC, and the German G3.

@broizfam:

No problems, I keep a few rolled just in case of company.

As for the need for an assault weapon, have you paid attention to the US government? They forgot the turn up the heat SLOWLY part of the boiling frog experiment. now we can all see that both ends of teh spectrum are in control and fecking idiots at that.

We need assault weapons to protect ourselves from our government more than anything else. However, they also do a great job of deterring people with baseball bats from crossing a property line in a state with Castle Doctrine laws.

insane ai,
Not big on guns but I don`t think they should be illegal. Don`t get what the average joe needs an assault weapon for, though. Anyway, I have to go along with your choice of options except that I might have to disturb you, temporarily, to roll another one!

Rhinos were "created by `God`" too, but that doesn`t make them any less illegal to own.

Don`t get me wrong, I`m in favor of legalization, but have the grace to use a logical argument.

I was right there until I read "created by God." I still support the message though. What was needed was a constitutional amendment allowing people to grow weed, apparently.

Both should be legal. Now argue with me.

I will offer you one of the two options above as the resolution. Either smoke a dubee and chill the feck out or I will shoot you for disturbing my high.
