Re: Trizz - I actually used a macro shot of a dragonfly wing to make a texture for a 3D model of a stained glass window once. It worked great.

They are supercool. Boys in class would tie a floss in a knot, at the butt end, & fly these like a kite.

Man, that would make some great lyrics for a heavy metal song! "And my heart fell to the floor and broke, like the detailed close-up of a dragonfly`s wing, oh yeah!" Then add something about white steel or blue metal or some white animal (lion, snake, etc.), and you`re all set!

Yes, defender (because, clearly, He needs defense). I like it when He starves, literally, millions of children in India, causing their physical and mental growth to be stunted from conception through adulthood. I like how He allows men to maim thousands of children a year in order that the children can beg and be more sympathetic (for which the kids get about a dime or so a day with which to eat). I like how He causes other men (and boys) to rape women and girls while killing men and small boys all across Africa, the killers and the victims determined only by His whims of the day. I like how at the same time He causes food to rot in trash bins all over the world, how those who were born innocent and will die innocent live a life more horrible than we can possibly even imagine, and He expects us to believe and fight over healthcare and tax issues here. Yes, He is amazing. Truly. Glory be to Him.

Looks like migrant hawker, aeshnea affinis to me.

380 million years ago, wingless insects, apterogytes evolved. 80 million years later insects evolved wings and a more complex two stage development, the basic plan for that wing first appears in fossils from the lower cretaceous ~ about 140 million years ago.

Fossil aeshnea have been around since at least 5-8 Million years ago (Aeshna andancensi @ Saint-Bauzile, Privas).

A long, long, time after that the species shown and the very similar species aeshna affinis split from a common ancestor.

So god went to all that bother.. for what?

Try this for an idea of just how complex taxonomy is ~ and by extension the evolutionary process..

Fun dragonfly fact: They cannot walk, despite having legs! The legs are only used for landing.
