If I didn`t have to work, I wouldn`t have left the house at all yesterday. Thankfully, my job doesn`t put me in contact with any of this mess.

Walmart is saying they`ve had record sales this Black Friday, so evidently the protest was a complete fail.

Most of the people that take part in the worst of it do it as an excuse to act like animals. It`s a mob mentality. It`s an excuse like a license to be a complete and utter worthless human being ... and blend right in. And the stores promote and incite it more and more each year. I went last year (but am from a fairly small town) and it was insane. This year, there was nothing I wanted that bad and only one "deal" I even wanted (and it was cheaper online), plus I was boycotting the fact that so many stores have now started it on Thursday and forced their employees to work.

They should play this to the North Koreans to make them feel better about their poverty.

I am glad I chose civilised China to live and work in.

I think my only comment to all this crazy Black Friday stuff will be: Jose Mujica: The world`s `poorest` president

"Does this actually happen? What the drat america?"

I find it hard to believe still and I`ve been watching it unfold over the years.

People are so obsessed about "STUFF" they will actually act like rabid animals in order to get their "STUFF".

You know... the important things in life

No purchasing here! No buying at home or crossing the border for deals! No presents! No Christmas!
(No job! No company! No idea what to do!)

Bakcagain: Did you even click on the link and watch the video? That was all paid for by the UCFW union, The `strikers` at the Walmart stores today are temp workers being paid by the UCFW.

This a contrived `strike` on a non-union employer. Even CNN isn`t calling them `strikers`, but what they really are, paid protestors.

I`d say that too, NNoamfer but unfortunately, I`m an adult and need to buy things for myself and my family. Black Friday is more of a US thing (at least to the degrees they showcase). They only started with "similar but not quite as good sales" in Canada to try and keep Canadians to do Christmas shopping in their own country.

Did some shopping today. If I do any tomorrow it will be at 4 in the afternoon before I go to a boring, slow night at work. Yay for closing shift! Pretty much everyone will be asleep!

I don`t want to face the craziness of the sales, so I usually ignore it all. But this morning I did hop online and get the smartphone I`ve been wanting for 1 cent. That`s a win for me and I won`t worry about shopping again until Xmas eve when I realize that I forgot to buy presents.

Buying online isn`t a solution for other reasons. I read that something like 90% of online purchases in new electronics are made AFTER the person goes to a store like best buy and handles the item. Then he goes back and orders it online because it`s 10 dollars less. All the retail stores are going out of business because of online shopping, then where are those people going to check out the item they want to buy?

F*ck that, I usually don`t go out on Black Friday, it`s not worth it. All they do is get you in the door with bullsh*t ads for cheap TV`s, which there are only 5 of in stock. Then you figure you`re there anyway so you might as well start buying sh*t that you think is on sale even though it`s not because the price was jacked up a month ago. The only place I`m going is to the Guitar Center on Flatbush Ave in Brooklyn because I found an awesome used Les Paul guitar I paid for online tonight and they`ll have it waiting for me when I get there.

Nope, not shopping. The whole concept is just ridiculous and I won`t be a part of that. It`s 0730, we have a training holiday and I`m enjoying my coffee until the hubby gets off work in a few hours. Then it`s "us time" ;-), nap, eat, us time again, spades with friends, eat, sleep! THAT IS HOW YOU SPEND BLACK FRIDAY!!!
