Wouldn`t it make more sense to remember him on the day of his death? It`s not like he`s having any more birthdays.

Hard to have a birthday when you`re deader than britney spear`s career.

@marcus: It just makes more sense to commemorate them on the day of their death rather than a birthday, because if you`re celebrating a birthday, it`s usually because you`ve lived to see another one.

I love the fact that Lemmy Kilmister was a roadie for The Jimi Hendrix Experience in `67-`68. The story he tells in the documentary film "Lemmy" about how Hendrix relied on him to score LSD is great.

Hendrix is a bit overrated.. sure, he made a few good ones, and he died young.. But the adoration he gets is a bit over the top..

Anyone who thinks he`s "overrated" probably isn`t a real music fan and definitely not a musician, guitar player specifically. He pretty much changed the whole game and made his guitar do things that people didn`t think were possible.

I agree that some of his sh*t is actually very easy to play, but that`s not the point. I got to talk to one of my favorite guitarists, Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers/Gov`t Mule) at a meet & greet last year and asked him if he would let me in on some secrets/tricks of his and he told me, "It`s not about what notes you play or how you play them, it`s about why you play them."

Jimi Hendrix was the greatest true musician in rock history. Of course, kids nowadays think it`s more important to look good than to have any actual musical ability of ANY kind. Anyone who`s ever played guitar understands the genius of Hendrix. Kain1, learn some respect, kid.
