Ironically, it`s used to remove a spray-tan like shade of colouring.

That`s a baby getting photo-therapy treatment for jaundice. Not even remotely funny.

Those are bili lights, for babies with jaundice. It increases their bilirubin. Babies with jaundice spend some time in these lights before they can leave the hospital, some even come back for a few sessions. My baby had slight jaundice and she just had to spend some time in her diaper by a window in the sun a few times and was fine.

When my son was born, his bilirubin was too high and in order to bring it back down, his pediatrician was going to put him in a light similar to the one in the picture...So instead I cranked up the heat in my house and stripped my little guy down to his diaper and stuck him in the sunlight in the window everyday as instructed by his pediatrician and I gave him frequent feedings with formula and it worked for him like a charm...his bilirubin came down and he is fine.

Kid`s getting his health on- nothing wrong with enjoying it at the same time. Isn`t like he`s being picked on.

My son was born two months early and weighed 3 pounds. We had to spend a month in the hospital doing stuff like this everyday. Wasn`t very funny then, not too funny now.

Come on Dragonace, get a grip. It`s not a serious condition -- easily treated and this pic is totally cute and funny!

Reminds me of my son -- we called him "Golden Boy" for a couple of weeks after he was born. Just a few (dozen) good feedings and a little sunlight and he was right as rain! I`m sure he wouldn`t have minded a little "tanning" in the bili lights, though, if he had needed it. Luckily, the bilirubin number didn`t get too high.

High bilirubin may be easy to treat but if left untreated and it continues to climb it can become a serious problem including quadriplegia, brain damage, mental retardation, hearing loss, or even death...so I don`t really find this post all that funny either..

Settle down, people. It`s a funny picture; no-one`s saying it`s funny that kids get sick.

My daughter got photo therapy for jaundice when she was born. I thought it was funny. So did everyone else. Even the doctors joke make sun tanning jokes. Lighten up people.
