Geo-vigilante went ahead and did it. Without permission Russ George dumped 100tons of iron sulphate into the pacific ocean. I guess we`ll see what happens.

@madest: He did that without thought to all of the implications. Iron has been known to "fertilize" oceans for algae for years, but blooms mostly just upset the balance of nature and have consequences this moron didn`t think of.

I hate that our political system is so immature that we have to discuss drastic measures like this.

Anyone see Frontline`s show on climate skeptics last night? I`ll try to post it when it`s online.

He said it as it is: there are things ready to go for deployment, but the only thing missing is the action to spend the money and put this in place. Greed and the love for money strikes again. The issue is that we need to stop greed, and unless human kind is humbled greatly, the love for money and greed will not be held back.

What he suggests is a good idea, but it`s kind of risky, because it could be terrible. I`m thinking the same thing auburnjunky is, but in more detail, the story of "The Renaissance part II" from the animatrix, when mankind blackened the sky. What if that ice age gets out of control? a scientist doesn`t use himself as the test subject, neither should the world be the test stage. Yes we should do serious research on this, after all we are the keepers of the planet but more pressing is a problem with our pollution. It will take a paradigm shift so that we are all thinking for the best of each other and this planet.

madest: that`s the most depressing article i`ve read in a while.. man, i have a gut feeling that this is a reckless move and will cause more damage than good, but i`m hoping it will be the opposite.
