They closed all the Blockbuster`s near me. The sad thing is, my parents still don`t fully understand that you can watch videos online...

I gave up on Blockbuster LONG before they went under.

Short version of story...was a regular customer, everybody knew me. I used the night slot for a return that I didn`t realize was late. A while later I get a letter from a collection agency for two dollars. So I went back to the store with two dollars and a pair of scissors, paid them their money and cut up my rental card in front of the manager. Really dude, you couldn`t make a phone call to one of your best customers and just let me know I owed you two lousy bucks?

@DromEd: Your story is one I`ve seen before with other places submitting paltry amounts to collection agencies, but wouldn`t BB lose money sending it to collections? I mean, I don`t know exactly how their deals work, but wouldn`t they charge more than $2 for a collection?

I used to go to blockbuster to rent video games. I stopped going after they got rid of all their gameboy games to make room for xbox 360 stuff :( (but not before buying a few GBA games for really cheap, one of which I loved when I rented it and it still had my save file on it :D)

    @ patch

The guy explained to me that the whole amount of late stuff gets sent to collection. So I got lumped in with people who owed significant amounts. I imagine those were the people who just never returned movies to begin with. Videos were pretty expensive back then.
