they ask you how long ago the earth was created, then they ask you by who, I thought the current religious belief was that earth was created like 5000 years ago, if the first question was right then the 2nd question is redundant, religion is stupid, its an easy way to make money and control people

Well to be fair only the creationist variety of retar..sorry, religious person thinks that the earth was created that recently

The other varieties have ammended their timescales a tad in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence.

Like some believers think that the genesis bit of the bible really did happen over 6 days....and the rest have now backtracked and claim it means just 6 separate eras.

It`s that cherry picking thing that religious people do...if science hasn`t outright disproven something yet then they`ll go along with it still, and when they do they claim "god`s word" meant something slightly different anyway.

@Afugy - hmmm I had to Google to get the 420 part.. But if it has to do with the consumption of cannabis and, by extension, a way to identify oneself with cannabis subculture... Then you sir are correct, it is f*cken SUPER LAME INDEED! Not to also mention the hypocrisy that he himself double-posted with his pathetic comment.. Once at 4:12:22 PM and earlier at 3:58:17 PM.

Creationists believe the world is a few thousand years old. Intelligent Design is the theory that all the science is correct, but all that swirly cosmos stuff actually happened because god made it so.

But because you can`t teach straight up religion in most schools, they`re trying to crowbar ID in there instead because it pretends to accept the science.

First time I ever heard the phrase 420 was when I was working as a cashier. The total came out to $4.20, and the guy laughed. I was like, "What?" and he says, "International pot smoking hour."

I heard, "International poker stars." So I said, "Uh, I don`t watch a lot of TV." Then we looked at each other awkwardly for a moment, and he turned and left.

    Another successful human interaction!

"Creationists believe the world is a few thousand years old. Intelligent Design is the theory that all the science is correct, but all that swirly cosmos stuff actually happened because god made it so. "

That`s not true, actually. Intelligent design is just a fancy name for creationism. Creationists describe intelligent design in exactly the same way as creationism (except maybe replacing "God" with "intelligent designer"). Even in creationist "textbooks" that are newer editions, they just replace "creationism" with "intelligent design" and pretend it`s something different from before.

However, not all creationism(/intelligent design) is young earth creationism, so whatever this is from probably just doesn`t teach young earth creationism.

adamslily. Because C IS the correct answer. The Earth is 4.5 to 4.6 billion years old.

And you misread the answer, it clearly states 3.7 million, not billion on the answer, either way, the correct answer is still 4.6 billion.

@wolfguy423 you should care because if he is NOT at a religious school he`s being taught wrong. You attribute the creation of the earth to God then you close the door to that child`s understanding of the remainder of science (not you personally, obviously). To go briefly Whitney, the children are our future. We are SCREWED if this generation are all taught the stuff that was being disproved back in the Renaissance. Congrats God-nut Teacher - you`ve just set education back 400 years. When the next meteorite hits (or whatever earth shattering catastrophe is destined to wipe out 90% of life on the planet) we won`t have advanced our scientific understanding far enough to a) avert it or b) evacuate the planet and survive it that way.

OK, OK, I`ve taken it to ridiculous extremes, but the point still stands that a lot of damage to the entire education system can be done by this kind of [email protected]

I am a high school science teacher. And NOT religious at all. But science can`t prove that there is NO God. But in a recent US News poll of 100 scientists belief in creation, 64% of scientists stated that it is MORE scientifically theoretical that the earth was created. As one scientist stated: ... "because everything on the earth is a perfect balance of creation. And no matter how many times you slam together clumps of metal at high speeds, it won`t produce a perfectly manufactured Ferrari. No matter how many times you try, with different speeds & temperatures, it will NEVER happen, not with 100 billion attempts. So the chance of earth, and living beings just EVOLVING from a crash-bang, is unscientific in itself."

To be more specific the universe was created by the big bang, using the planetesimal theory you can explain how a planet was created so all the answers to the question were not specific enough! I study astrophysics so I know what I`m talking about! In 4 billion years due to expansion our galaxy, the milky way galaxy, will collide with the andromeda galaxy, so there is nothing perfect about that! our universe is so vast you all need to realize we are all insignificant in comparison. This universe ( the big bang could have created more than one) was not created for us! Just deal with it, you are not special! Religion is the opium for the ignorant!
