    Yes, this does take weeks of practice, and a bit of software for planning. Very well done, except for those damn trumpets thinking they are the only thing that should be heard.

    @Crinkle25

    Back when I was involved, you had a pad of paper with a football field on it and you drew in the designs, then everyone went and got on a spot, then the director would tell you where to go next. After a few weeks, it sunk in.

    NOW, they have computer programs where you design it, and can print out the overall design, and also print out each member`s movements individually, so everyone has a booklet to guide them. Still takes weeks, though.

    Fehz-"for those damn trumpets thinking they are the only thing that should be heard"

    A couple of reasons for that:
    Brass will overpower woodwinds (more air being pushed, bigger resonating bells).
    Amoung the brass, the higher the tone, the more it will carry. Trumpets have the higher tone, followed by french horn/bellfronts, Trombone, Baritone, Sousaphone/Tuba.
    Also amoung the brass, the smaller the instrument, the less air movement require to reach a certain volume. Again, trumpets are small.
    Plus, there is generally more trumpets than anything else.

    This was ok, but these guys have nothing on the Drum & Bugle Corps I`ve seen in competition. This band`s lines were messy!

    Different Animals. This was basically students, many of whom do not major in music. Consider it Prep.

    Drum & Bugle Corps are professional performers.
