This comic strip was found in a 1949 Icelandic newspaper. Was Matt Groening inspired by it for Homer? It"s uncanny.

The writing at the bottom says something about "axing too well" in Icelandic. I doubt Danish newspapers and magazines don`t translate their punchlines.

looks more like the modern homer than the original homer. you know... the one that evolved from a bunny.
