    Most plausible way I`ve heard of yet. Hell, most kids learn to walk heavy objects pretty young so this makes a lot of sense

    no, i don`t think so. maybe some of the little ones. but it would to ez for it to fall over and smash apart or some one.
    most of the moai are over 30ft hight

    pretty sure they used a type of palm tree and the oil from the tree to roll the statues over the logs...which lead to deforestation of the island and their demise...this was settled about a decade ago.

    The Easter Island statues are much taller than this. Still it is pretty neat that it could walk blind folded like that.

    I thought that only the heads were showing above ground but many had large bodies underneath the ground...don`t think it could have been accomplished this way for those.

    Yes. Absolutely. They cut down every tree to do it. All their soil eroded. They couldn`t grow crops. It devastated the entire island population and ecosystem.
