Since you claim to want to leave the conversation but keep posting...
I`d still really like to know what makes you think a CEO`s few million dollars in pay adversely effects a company with 150 billion in revenue.

Please, no cop outs. change my opinion, I like to be proven wrong. Its okay, it wont hurt my brain.

Mark -- so you mean the way you use it is by definition. I think I understand your motives, which is all I was asking.

However, most political minded people tend to think of partisanship as a constructive thing. middle-ground ideology and pleasing everyone is not always beneficial.

That is all I was suggesting -- hence the lecture I linked.

Partisan

Wiki:
"...In multi-party systems, the term is widely understood to carry a negative connotation - referring to those who wholly support their party`s policies and are perhaps even reluctant to acknowledge correctness on the part of their political opponents in almost any situation."

Merriam-Webster:
"1: a firm adherent to a party, faction, cause, or person; especially : one exhibiting blind, prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance"

Please tell me that you are messing with me. That seriously took less than a minute.

mark -- you assume I didn`t?

“Partisanship, for lack of a better word, is good. Partisanship is right. Partisanship clarifies, it cuts through, and it captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit,” says R. Shep Melnick, Thomas P. O’Neill, Jr. Professor of American Politics

Was all I could find on the debate of whether it was a good thing or a bad thing. Which is why I posed the question to have you elaborate on your claim. I think it is rather important to stand up for one`s beliefs. If that sometimes (in politics) involves poking fun at the other party, then it may encourage discussion -- a motive for the other party to "prove" their point if you will.

@markust123 --

Being "partisan" means you are committed to your party.

I am not quite understanding how you keep throwing that around as an insult or bad thing. Care to elaborate?

I have to jump out of this. Being in a partisan fight about trying not to be partisan is really hurting my brain. If you really do just want to talk numbers find a post with HolyGod. He`s fun.

So what does that have to do with ceo`s paychecks?

It`s okay to admit you were wrong about something, you don`t need to deflect the discussion into something completely unrelated.

"i posted a humorous image after you have stated you will no longer be participating in this discussion."

No, you posted a partisan image that lacked humor in any way. But I could tell you were partisan well before you posted that. I`ve been spending the last couple months blocking Facebook friends on the left and the right who post these stupid partisan pictures. They don`t change anyones minds. They just show who I don`t need to waste my time talking to. Two weeks after the election I will unblock these Facebook friends.

Numbers are not partisan. You seem to want to make it a partisan fight. Nowhere have I defended Romney or made any mention of him.

However it is true, i posted a humorous image after you have stated you will no longer be participating in this discussion.

Give it a rest Tacos4Brkfst. If you look at my comments below I was sticking up for Romney. This is a stupid video and a stupid post. I`m not going to get into your partisan fight.

Yay, I knew you could do it.

So, back to opinions and facts.

So you really think a few million paid to a CEO `hurts` a company like GE? Why do you think that? In what ways does it hurt? You have only mentioned that it hurts the employee`s paycheck, which i have provided numbers for you to show that assumption is incorrect.

Cry partisan all you want, it doesn`t change anything.

OK Huff Po submission from a few days ago.

Clearly this is in a joking context. Plus look at him. He looks 10 years younger. When and where did this come from?

Seems just another ha ha we caught you bit from the far left.

"Things like that sucks money from the workers pensions and pay"
Mark, that statement is dumb.

Lets just take a look at some random company.. how about one that didn`t pay taxes, like general electric?
Employ`s 301,000 people.
CEO compensated over 14 million in 2007
Lets take that CEO`s pay and divide it among the workers.
Oh wow, a whole forty six dollars over a year, or, 2 cents an hour raise.

Yes, that CEO is clearly taking money from your paycheck and pension!

Don`t think anyone has a problem with his wealth.
How he went about getting his wealth is a problem
He does not pay any taxes on his earnings is a problem
That he has no emPathy for his fellow citizens who are going through terrible hardship, often because of the very business practices he made money from, is a problem.
He now wants to run a country like a private country.club is a problem.

This is a stupid out of context video. What group was he talking to? If it was entrepreneurs or businessmen that is a very motivational comment. I am an author and an entrepreneur. I am motivated in a large way by success.

"No one is demonizing success."

OK, there are some who are demonizing success but they are the ones on the other end who are also getting their talking points. One talking point is fighting against the other. Sheep will be sheep on both ends.

"demonizing success" is a talking point that has been burned into your head. No one is demonizing success. My new friend just sold a company he started with two other guys. He left with $18M. I couldn`t be happier for him. What people are getting upset about are things like the insane pay CEO`s are getting even when they fail. Things like that sucks money from the workers pensions and pay. People are pissed at the corruption at the top not success. But keep spinning those lies and talking points.
since when was it a bad thing to be successful?
It isn`t, although some of the more radical left people think it is. The problem isn`t the end, it`s the means. Polluting, breaking laws, buying politicians (whether it be by corporations, individuals, unions, etc.) is wrong.

I noticed you failed to disagree with the statements I "presupposed"; is it because I am right and you are a bit ashamed of it?
My comments speak for themselves.
I agree with you 100%; I am gald you have finally come to your senses and realized that your comments suggest that you are envious.

You are out of your mind. No point in arguing with someone who just wants to presuppose all his opponents positions. My comments speak for themselves. My problem isn`t with the candidate`s money, my problem is with how he acts.

@unmercyfuldu: I`m not missing anything - merely calling it like I see it.

For example, allow me to make a statement: it is OK to tax the rich at a higher rate and redistribute that money to less fortunate people.

Do you agree or disagree with this?

Now, since you agree with this, allow me to ask you something: do you consider yourself to be one of the less fortunate? The answer obviously is "yes" considering your previous statements.

Therefore, simple reasoning suggests that you are envious per my prior definition. It`s quite simple.

What are you missing? How about the simple fact that it isn`t his wealth or possessions that cause my resentment but his actions and gloating behavior. Warren Buffet has a lot more then he does, but he isn`t an asshat. Get it? Character = problem. Money =/= problem.

@unmercyfuldu:
You are a silly person.
I have my moments. However, since you`d like to get into it, please witness the following:

en·vy /ˈenvç/
Noun: A feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else`s possessions, qualities, or luck.
He certainly has your interests in mind because he can totally relate
Resentment, check.
what it is like to not have several mansions and yachts
Aroused by someone elses possessions and/or luck? Check.

What am I missing here or are you just being defensive because someone called you out for being an idiot?

Oh, cute. I criticize a presidential candidate for gloating about his immense wealth while Americans suffer through the worst economy since the great depresson and that means I am jealous. You are a silly person.

"Your reality, not his."

99% of American`s reality, not his. Lets all vote for someone who gloats about their mansions and yachts. He certainly has your interests in mind because he can totally relate to what it is like to not have several mansions and yachts.

Does anyone deny that being rich would make them happy? Afterall, the most common stressor in relationships is financial concerns.

Just saying, money can`t buy happiness, but it`s a hell of a lot easier to be happy when you don`t have to worry about it.
