Wake Up, America: The Road To World War III

Submitted by: Dead_mind 4 years ago Misc

Is America really on a road that"s going to cause World War III? Maybe. What"s behind all the fuss? Oil, of course.

Oh or you could get dragged into another world war and we can ignore you like we should`ve done the first two times!

@markust: and Obama got only a tiny `bump up` in the polls! Way less than Romney. Add to that the history of polls "skewing left" by 3-6% for the past 40 years and you have a Romney Victory Party!
@cajun: First of all: your new avatar is frightening me! Waaa!
Secondly: Iran is building a Bomb for a reason. Once they get one they`ll know what to do with it!
They don`t need an "ICBM" to blow up an American city: all they need is a Saudi cargo plane...

@normalfreak: Not officially declaired as "wars"? Possibly true, but approved by congress = yes!
NOT for Obama, he never asked and did not recieve what is required by the US Constitution.

"Obama received a significant bounce from the conventions."

5 point lead Markust.

Carter had a 17 point lead after the DNC in 1980. He lost is a huge landslide 2 months later.

I read somewhere that the wells in America (texas, alaska, other places, international waters) produce more oil than any of the middle eastern countries.

True, but if the other countries do start selling their oil for things other than the dollar it may not work out for the dollar. Speculation but eh who knows?

Seriously? They didn`t have permission to go to plenty of other wars. The Bosnian War and the Gulf war weren`t officially declared.
BUT if Iran gets a few nukes? They have essentially ONE big city and once that`s gone?
First of all they have a LOT more than just ONE big city, even if that`s true that wouldn`t be enough cash flow to maintain an ICBM even WITH solid fuel. Secondly, the Mullahs aren`t insane/stupid as you think they are. They perfectly understand a nuclear attack on their behalf would lead to their entire nation turned into the world`s largest parking lot. Even "blackmailing" their neighbors would prompt a swift invasion from their neighbors. Iran is in a box, we don`t need another long conflict that will cost us more blood and treasure.

You know the polls are telling when Fox News admits that Obama received a significant bounce from the conventions. Read it and weep Romney supporters.

I love how these things tell everyone to make their voice heard now, before it`s too late. No thanks.
I think I`ll keep my mouth shut, and wait for the right moment to take action. People seem to forget, the greatest tools of a resistance are secrecy, and anonymity. In other words . . . All you facebookers and twitter junkies are pretty much ******.

Only if Romney gets in and lets the war mongers run lose again.

Ooo! A little cosplay, eh?
I hope it`s a cat-tail, but fox or squirrel will do nicely...

Anyhow, America will be in Syria soon enough. After the election most likely. Since they`re already doing "secret stuff" it`s just a matter of time before the bombs start falling.

@Dead-Kittens: Russia is unlikely to nuke us OR the USA. China doesn`t have that many nukes, the American counter-stike would be lethal. Mutal Assured Destruction is a really good policy!
BUT if Iran gets a few nukes? They have essentially ONE big city and once that`s gone? Meanwhile Europe, the Middle East and the USA have literally thousands of targets, we cannot posibly defend them all...

LOLZ! @markust, you so funny!
At least Bush-1 and Bush-2 had permission FROM THE US GOVERNMNET to act, unlike Obama, who violated the US COnstitution.
Are you suggesting that Bush-1 and Bush-2 did NOT form "coalitions" for their war efforts? The UN? Nato? The UN again? They sure enough did!

And you know it too.

Canada would be with the US, sorry. They just withdrew their embassy from Iran and were called racist for it. In a coming major conflict, I think it would be difficult for anyone to remain neutral.

Electric and hybrid cars crack me up, because people think they are green.

Google search what makes up a hybrid or electric car.

That plastic in the car? Yep.. made from petroleum.

What do you think makes the electricity that runs the car`s lithium battery? Wind blown from the wings of hummingbirds into generators? Lol. Nope.. good ole coal and fossil fuels -- if not nuclear power.

"How is the electricity in your home created?"

For me it is from hydroelectric dams... but the generators are lubricated with... oh damn, oil. Oh crap my laptop keys were made using petroleum products. We can`t get away from it. We are surrounded in oil.

Gerry1of1 oil can be used just to create the items you say, for locomotion we have reached a technology that allow us to dont use oil. In any case for example for tissues and rubber there are also alternatives like natural fibers and cachou, you know they where used before the oil to produce tissues and rubber. For example from hemp you can obtain oil eventualy usable for combustion, tissues fibers, paper, plastic fibers and so on. Italy was the larger producer on sative hemp and with this we produced all this items. At a certain point the 7 sisters come in thye scene and guess what? Hemp cultivation was banned.

Gerry, is correct. Petroleum is essential to our civilization in ways that most have no clue about.

Before petroleum we where slaughtering whales by the thousands for their oil, heating our homes with vast amounts of timber and before the internal combustion engine, powered by petroleum, we enslaved over a hundreds of thousands of people to pick the cotton for our clothes.

Call crude oil `evil` if you want, but it`s brought a lot more blessings and freedom to the world than any collective harm its done.

Mankind has fought over resources, no matter what they are, for centuries. It`s not the fault of the resource, it`s our sinful nature that causes death and war.

And how did the food your cooking get shipped to you? How is the electricity in your home created? What is the plastic in your car made of? Look at the synthetics in your shoes and clothing, your furniture upholstery. The wrappers on your food products.

All of it delivered and/or created with oil.
If you want to live without oil you better plant your own garden and work at home by candlelight... assuming you make the candles yourself.

"An organization that the US bankrolls, so yes it was a US intervention. "

The video said, "Why did the United States attack Lybia." That is not what happened at all. Although it would have if certain Republicans in congress at the time had their way. They wanted the US to lead the charge like Iraq, which would have made the US look like occupiers and would have drained our economy once again from a needless war that would have taken years to get out of. Instead President Obama worked with other nations to come to a consensus on the Intervention. We went in as a collaboration of nations. This helped rebuild the worlds trust in the US. The eight years of my-way-or-the-highway mindset is through. We are once again citizens of the world.

Lastly, if Americans were unable to buy goods made in China goods that would be REALLY bad for the latter. Suddenly if value of the dollar was actually exposed it would undermine our and China`s ability and desire to wage war.

It does explain a lot, but a big problem with the "chess board" metaphor is that pieces have wills of their own. But if the Cold War has taught us anything absolutely NO ONE has the will to bring about the destruction of mankind.

@collegebound: The food you eat? Oil runs the tractors. Oil runs the delivery trucks and trains. Large amounts of electricity run on Oil or Natural Gas in the USA because people got "scared off" of Nuclear Energy...

So try as you might, you cannot avoid Petrolium without living in a cabin in the woods...
Also: plastic.

Male 5,811
@Collegebound: Well all of the plastic you use was crafted from petroleum, so you`d have to throw all that out too. But researchers at Cornell have actually figured out how to make plastic from CO2 and limonene (chemical responsible for scent of orange in cleaners), so maybe sometime down the road plastic will be from renewable sources.

Interesting! A few factual errors and some "skimming over" of policies, but a LOT better than other "conspiracy theories".

Example: In the 70`s the "petro dollar" actually benifited the OPEC nations. Suppose that Libya agreed to sell $4 billion dollars of oil, paid in Drachmas (or whatever currency they use). Come deliver day? Oh my! The "international money lenders" have DE-VALUED the Drachma to 75% of it`s former level! You only get $3 billion for your oil, sucker!
See?
The constant (relatively) US Dollar used to be good for OPEC. Now? Not as much.

Most of the materials in your car are fossil fuel based materials. All of the materials in your car are crafted using fossil fuels.
