Avello (D-New York) does the right thing in the face of Muslim hate speech. Good job!

Are you new to this site???

If you haven`t noticed Catholics numbers have been shrinking significantly over the years for that very reason. Now if you look at Bacha bazi you see that not only is it not covered up it`s accepted nice try!!
you only want to point the finger at muslims for their prophet having married a young girl, despite that being lawful in those ancient times.
So was the killing of disobedent children but I don`t see people accepting that now and following the word of the child stonig prophet to the letter. Here`s a towel wipe the bacon bits from your forehead!

Listypoos makes a great point. Nobody thinks all Catholics support pedophilia, even though the child sex abuse scandal is widespread among the clergy. Yet Westerners are often inclined to fear Islam for a threat that only comes from the most radical elements.

McGovern, this was just one case...there were lots of others on record by other priests.

"An archbishop wrote letters in 1996 to the Vatican watchdog led by Cardinal Ratzinger calling for disciplinary proceedings against Fr Lawrence Murphy, according to Church and Vatican documents.
Fr Murphy was a popular priest who is believed to have molested some 200 boys at St John`s School for the Deaf in St Francis, Wisconsin, between 1950 and 1974.
A canonical trial authorised by Cardinal Ratzinger`s deputy was halted after Fr Murphy wrote to the future pope asking that proceedings be stopped, despite objections from a second archbishop."

He personally intervened to stop internal trials of paedophiles within the church.... nevermind never once referring them to actual police authorities or courts despite laws having been broken.

it`s like someone robbing a bank and the company he works for dealing with the issue rather than the police.

"much like they`re currently ashamed of pedo priests but they also don`t regard them a prophets and worship them now do they"

Isn`t the Christian pope worshipped then?

And before he became this worshipped head of the church, what was his job in the vatican? Head of the office dealing with sex abuse claims and he orchestrated a cover up, and personally failed to act on lots of evidence against specific pedophiles.

You mean like what muslims do to women and gays right now? If you have good examples of those being practiced yes they should be ashamed of that much like they`re currently ashamed of pedo priests but they also don`t regard them a prophets and worship them now do they? Step out side your ultra PC bubble for a moment and open your eyes.

ferdyfred: The problem here is that these muslims gave these nutjobs a stage and a microphone to spread their hateful message.

No Christian group would give the WBC or KKK a stage and microphone to spew hatred, hatred like that is simply against the Christian Creed.

"Love your neighbor as you love yourself".

So going off that logic then McGovern, you`re quite happy for christians to be tarnished forever more because thousands of years ago they used to stone unruly children? Executing children for being naughty....

or do you think it`s ok for the christian religion to only be judged on the standards and laws in place then and not now...... but it`s not ok for muslims?

Call Mohammed whatever you want, the truth of the matter is that this was HOW LONG AGO? Do you think they even had a word then that meant the same as pedophilia?

No, you can`t judge someone from another historical era on modern day values.

Jesus hung out with a prostitute. That doesn`t sound too great either, unless he was a pimp. He could have been. Do unto others and all you know.

Your prophets are nothing more than mere men with the same foibles as all men.

As far as the blasphemy laws go, I will defend my right to point out Muhammad was a pedophile, because that is the direction this is going. If you can not freely talk about a religion then you can not deal with it freely.

I gave this 4 stars on the basis of hearing @5cats praise a Democrat alone. But even though the guy making the video isn`t exactly impartial, those speakers were just taking something positive and like CJ said, using it as a soapbox for hate.
see, this is the problem with people in the US. We only hear the extremist and never bother to listen to the many Muslims that speak out against them, and there are many.
But that`s not what happened here, is it? These two were up on stage spewing that extremist crap in front of everyone at a parade, an event that is supposed to be celebratory, not contradictory. This wasn`t a rally. Now I`m not saying they don`t have the freedom to say these things, but there is a time and a place for it and this wasn`t it. I believe Mr. Avello
did the right thing. Let`s not jump on the "defend the Muslim religion" bandwagon over this. Wait until it really needs defending because trust me, it will.

see, this is the problem with people in the US. We only hear the extremist and never bother to listen to the many Muslims that speak out against them, and there are many.

seems like people would rather make a very complex situation as black and white as possible but we will never get anywhere doing that. In the history of mankind we never have gotten anywhere doing that...

I fear its going to blow, WW3 could well be on its way, with Iran saying it wants to blow Israel of the map, Muslim extremists wanting to blow everyone of the map, China blowing up over Japan, the monetary crisis, pretty much makes a perfect storm right now. Over in Blighty the massive influx of asylum seekers has pretty much brought us to our knees. Dont know if the US has similar polices but something has to give, and the radical sorts are just the powder to make it blow

We should be proud of religion, it is after all one of the first steps made by the human race to explain and make sense of the world around us, it`s an important part of history. We need to move on from it though, embrace the universe around us for what it is. Instead we have so many people doing bad things to each other thinking that they have the blessing of god in doing so.

Ultimately it is sad to see that whilst we have developed to the point where we can put a robotic probe onto another planet, we are also still stuck in the dark ages to a large extent with so many people`s view of the world still based on the mumbo jumbo explanations of life from ancient times.

Whilst we still let those myths of the past guide our present our future as a species will be jeopardy.

A lot of people here and the US think all muslims are like this.....a lot of atheists think all Christians are preachy and deluded too.

Because of edited videos like this to a large extent that don`t show the full reality...or they don`t show the next rally that may have lots of muslims denouncing the extremist views of the others.

It`s not showing the bigger picture. It`s not just some of us that do it to muslims too....some muslims have a view that the US and UK are at war with their religion rather than just the extremist terrorists. They forget things like the Bosnian war where the UK and US actively went there to protect muslims as part of the UN protection force. I served in both the UK military (under the UN) and twice attached to the US forces (under Nato) over there and know we saved a lot of muslims... some muslims forget that aid we gave.

We`re going to have to agree to disagree. For me if someone produces one clip that is pure sensationalism I am going to assume the other one from the same rally is sensationalism also. Because I saw where their mind was going in the first clip. I saw that they were trying to portray the Muslims as nazi like. The second clip they were trying to continue to show what a radical rally the muslims had. So radical a senator left. But you could take any rally in America and splice up the heated speakers into some kind of crazy propaganda video. I think the producers know damn well some small minded people will use this video to attack all muslims. Maybe that is what they want so they get exposure.

@markust: My mind?
Well, I ASSUME right off that everything I see on the internet is `biased` for one reason or another.
Perhaps they`re making a political point? Selling something? Showing off how cool/dumb they are? Even sharing something cute or funny has a "reason" behind it.

SO: The message I take away from this clip is: a US Senator (or State Senator idk which) heard something nasty and walked off the stage. Of course the clip needs to be edited! Who wants to watch 8 minutes of "Muslim Poetry Rap"?
The long, un-edited clip speaks for itself, I like it a lot because I can form my own opinions on what the speakers said, based on what they actually said!
The short "Nazi Style Salute" clips is idiotic! THAT is pure sensationalism and utterly out of context. And stupid.
If one (the uploader) is going to try to change my mind about something, show me the facts! Not the fluff!
Hope that helps! I`m going to watch baseball to
I didn`t get that from her full (UN-)edited speech.
I`m assuming, lolz! She slips some in early, but like I say she "slides" them in there, real subtle, and I think that she says:
-Children are killed for the American Banks to make money
-Americans kill babies in their cribs with bombs
-Muslim men must become snipers to protect their children (from Jews and Americans)

Like you say: it`s hard to tell exactly, but that`s what I heard, heavily paraphrased, and some more too!
I prefer it to our constant arguing.
I do too @FP! I get grumpy sometimes and forget my manners.

@peakingo: What the VIDEO is promoting, and what the COMMENTS are promoting are two entirely different things!
THAT is what the whole "Mohammed Movie" thing is about!
If YOU get upset at this video, should it`s makers be arrested? Should a LAW be passed limiting human rights so YOU aren`t offended, ever, in the future?
THAT is the issue at hand.

As far as I`m concerned.
You`re still free to (be wrong!) have your own opinions. (lolz at my jest!)

As for MY reason for suggesting this? I was REALLY happy that a Democrat stood up for America! Heck, any politician standing up for human decency is OK in my books!

It`s hard to understand everything she`s saying in the unedited video (lots of reverb), but I didn`t hear any hate speech. I heard criticism of policy (U.S. and Israeli).

Also, in the full video the Senator walks out near the end of her speech, after sitting through the supposed "hate speech" the video claims she says. He seems to be upset that she accuses the U.S. of genocide.

@5Cats: Anyway, thanks for posting the full vid. It`s more interesting that the edited one. Thanks for posting a civil response to my fixed link. I prefer it to our constant arguing.

I didn`t get that from her full edited speech. Although I admit I got bored and turned it off halfway through. I just though she was fired up.

"So people who comment on YouTube videos influence how you view the world? Nice! The actual message in the video =/= the idiots who spam YouTube for either side, ok? "

Sometimes I just don`t get your mind. We were just pointing out the hateful people that are posting on the YouTube comments. That these people on the YouTube comments are hating against all Muslims.

"No one HERE called her "a terrorist""

Sadly I actually did call her a terrorist. I got caught up in the propaganda. I apologized after hearing the full poem.

To be sure, 5Cats, I wasn`t disagreeing with you. It`s just that, I think videos like this one just breed hate. I don`t want to give an e-stage to extremists of *any* group. I feel like it`s damaging to discourse. It makes me really angry when I hear some of the things said at town hall meetings. I kind of feel like, had I not hear them, I`d be a little less angry. It makes me angry to hear idiot Democrats, too. Like I say, I`d prefer to keep all propaganda washed from general view. At the same time, and I know that you weren`t contradicting this idea, I`m just stating my opinion so that I`m clear, I support their right to say what they say (these people, radicals from both parties, etc.). I don`t like it, but I support it. We can`t kill all of the mean people. Can we? ;-)

Found some UN-edited tape!
HERE it is!
It`s long, 18 minutes.
The first speaker has a mixed message, as far as I can tell. No biggie.
The second speaker is the Imam in this clip. Ooo! He gets hot and bothered right off the bat! He goes on for about 6 minutes.
Kashmire (?) (the lady) comes on at the 9:00 mark...
OoooO! The clip gives no indication of just how BATpoo INSANE this woman is! She slips anti-American and anti-semitism into her verse (it`s a poem apparently) sooo easily...
Avello sits through a full 7 minutes of it.
I think the phrase that ticked him off was refering to "men having to be snipers to protect their babies"? It was right after she said America bombs babies in thier cribs...

So for those who care: I hope this helps put things in perspective!

The Imam is an idiot for wanting blasphemy laws. Regarding the woman, it`s very hard to tell what she`s actually referring to because the uploader has removed the context. Note that she says, "all we blow up is minds in minefields" which sounds vaguely like she`s not endorsing violence but instead promoting an intellectual response.

The problem here is that the uploader can`t really be trusted. Case in point, this video in which he tries to make it appear that the crowd is doing a Nazi salute: Link

"I recall never understand how my fellow Louisianians could elect a former head of the KKK to a state representative position."

I think it is tribe mentality. It is hard for people to go against the group even if a person is bad. Every once in a while though you will see people break free and a whole group of Preachers or Imans will denounce something. I would not be surprised if that happens to this woman`s speech. For the first guy not so much. He`s just an innocent nut with wishful thinking and zero comprehension of the constitution.

I guess it needs to be viewed in context.

I recall never understand how my fellow Louisianians could elect a former head of the KKK to a state representative position.

I guess like that, regardless of how many oppose it, if the right ones give support then they can gain power.

@markust: Were they just there on their own? OR Did the organizers invite them, have them mount the stage and spew hatred without attempting to stop them (once the hate started flying)?
Those are completely DIFFERENT situations.
It had nothing to do with the first guy who wanted an international law to make blasphemy illegal.
Um, illegal to blaspheme = criminalize blasphemy, eh?
They`re identical, yet you seem to consider them opposites? Or at least completely unassociated? Um, NO! It`s spot-on accurate.

why are you trying to troll me 5cats? I said and I quote, "The other was just expressing his opinion. Albeit a wrong opinion never the less."

Now seriously tell me how you could misconstrue that statement as one of support?

You really need to stop commenting on my comments.

You just look foolish.

"I can`t figure out why moderate muslims tolerate jihadists in their parades and speeches. Christians wouldn`t tolerate the WBC or KKK in a parade of theirs."

I`m going to take back what I said. My comparison was about the first speaker not the second. I agree that a decent Christians organization would not let a Christian extremist that was as batsh*t crazy as that woman walk in their parade.

Yeah, give me a break. We could thread together hate speak videos at any Republican townhall meeting. Probably any Democratic one, too. People routinely call Obama all manner of things that are none too polite, for example. Rarely, if ever, does anyone say a word about it. Selective editing and inclusion is evil. Hate speak is evil. However, it`s all allowed, and should be, under our laws.

I have plenty of well-liked posts! Just not many political ones are well liked.

Oooo! What did he do? Or was it just a spam-bot?

@CynicalGamer: So he had you until the very end? Not too bad I`d say!
But... you don`t tolerate his freedom to express his religion? (I`m hoping that`s NOT the case eh?)
The United Nations needs to pass a law banning Jihadist Rap immediately
@Badenov: I agree! That`s not free speech: that`s oral assault!

@FoolsPrussia: I think he refers to parades in Western nations, eh?

@peakingo: The guy called for international laws against offending Islam too, eh? You support this?

The State Senator walked off the stage because of the woman who was promoting terrorism. It had nothing to do with the first guy who wanted an international law to make blasphemy illegal. That is a huge stretch by the video producer and the MOD who used the screen cap that says "That would criminalize blasphemy".

"I can`t figure out why moderate muslims tolerate jihadists in their parades and speeches. Christians wouldn`t tolerate the WBC or KKK in a parade of theirs."

What? There is always at least one Christian extremist at any gathering, parade or what have you, with a huge sign with hate filled sayings. I`ve never heard any real Christians denounce that. If Christians will allow such obvious judgement and bigotry at an ordinary event I don`t see why they wouldn`t let them march in a Christian parade. My response to these Christian extremists with their signs is to laugh at the situation - I will not feed their anger with anger.

This video seems biased; the organization who posted this video is against the spread of Islam in North America...

I could care less what the religious want to believe in...however, you can`t silence people just because you don`t like what they are saying.

Notice: In the video, no one stopped them from speaking their minds on whatever issues they felt they needed to...however, that does not mean that we have to participate or even listen.

The senator exercised his rights in the face of a speech that he did not agree with...I applaud him for doing it in a civilized and controlled manner that was appropriate to his station and citizenship.

So hypocritical, don`t offend the prophet (while they plot to kill innocent people).

This shows you the kind of talks that go on in those muslim centers (and i know everybody is going to say that is not the case) but here is proof.

I commend the Senator for not speaking to this anti-muslim propaganda film maker. The senator specifically said, "I do want to ruin this event". Which illustrates that above all else this was overall a respectable parade minus ONE, out of line slam poet and her misguided belief system. The other was just expressing his opinion. Albeit a wrong opinion never the less.

This is no different than Nazi`s marches or Michigan Militia organizations speaking of over throwing the government or a protestor walking around with an assault rifle, or fundamentalist blowing up abortion clinics, or OWS protesters instigating a fight with the police.

It`s ignorant to blame everyone for a few.

This propagandist is doing just that. And I quote, "... the horror of this presentation and the horror of this muslim day parade... god bless."

The United Nations should also make a law against driving slow in fast lanes, talking on cell phones in movie theatres, and masturbation... punishable by tickling until you urinate yourself.

I don`t think you fully understood what was happening and why the Senator was upset. He was not upset at these people for being Muslim (afterall, he was a major part of the parade...). Instead, he was upset at these people for exploiting the situation to attack long-standing American ideals. These people were LITERALLY suggesting that the right to free speech be removed in their case.

A parade is supposed to be a happy thing, a celebration, not a soap box for hate and warmongering.

I commend Avello for leaving the stage, but his staff should`ve researched these speakers ahead of time and not put him in that compromising position in the first place.

What these creeps fail to see is that the freedom and rights they are spewing hate for, are what allow them to stand up and speak like this without being arrested for sedition. If a Christian "Zionist" stood up in Iran and made a speech like this he`d be arrested, tortured and executed. In this country, they are free to say whatever crazy poo they want. Inciting hatred is protected by the First Amendment, unfortunately...

That woman`s "Hip-Hop Jihad" was torture!

It`s not at all unusual for a politician to be invited to these sorts of cultural rallies: it happens ALL the time!
What is unusual is for people to get up and spew hatered and call for the deaths of those who disagree with them!

So good job by Senator Avello, disregardless of his political stripes! He was extra-classy by not making a big fuss over it, or spouting a rant of his own. Lots of "normal" people were there who wanted nothing to do with Jihad, I`m sure!
It`s too bad the organizers of the rally chose Jihadists to speak while nice folks had to listen.

I don`t blame him though, they probably would have killed and sodomized him.

Where`s the outrage when their own book states the beloved prophet married a 7 year old and consummated with her at 9? Makes the video they`re so up in arms about seem tame to me.

I actually agree with the senator. Kinda sets a model for what the "jihadists" should do. Let others continue in their ways as long as its not hurting anyone, even if it offends you.
