The avatar for this link was a dead giveaway. Without even clicking on the link, I am certain that it`s Charlie Chaplin`s speech at the end of "The Great Dictator".

Actually, as soon as I read the title and caption, it was exactly who I expected.
democracy is what got us into this mess in the first place!
Absolutely correct, ST! This country started out as a constitutional republic under the rule of law. It has since degenerated into a crass democracy under the rule of a parasitic mob that pisses on the constitution whenever it stands between them and someone else`s money.

@FredSpulman:
If you`ll remember, the U.S allied itself with F**king commies who won World War 2 for us.
Actually, there is fairly wide consensus that without US financial and economic/industrial aid, Russia would not have been able to defeat Germany and Japan sans the US. There is also wide consensus that the US would not have been able to defeat both Japan and Germany sans Russian help as the US would not have "stomached" the loss of life.

@LordJim:
If Joe McCarthy says so, it`s good enough for OldOllie.
Many of McCarthy`s concerns have been validated. Most agree that he is, at very least, partially vindicated. Seriously - read into it.

The only thing worth pointing out is that he said nationalism was a failed concept. The problem here is that we could get the dreaded new world order too, which to me is far scarier.

@oldollie - no, That`s not true, what Chaplin was was not a fascist. Which I suppose from your standpoint it`s the same thing.

This speech holds true today. We have lost our way. The love of humanity is within all of us, we can all harness the kingdom of God is in all of us if we choose to. It`s unnatural to hate, and we should work for unity, to love one another, be honourable and excellent. So that our progress won`t be hindered by the chains of hate and oppression.

This speech is also a good way to see the possibility of how science and religion will work hand in hand in the end.

He cites the bible, while promoting science and progress. I wonder how that will go over with people.

Just so we`re clear, that guy`s not supposed to be Hitler. That`s Charlie Chaplin, playing a Jewish Barber in "The Great Dictator", a 1940 film (prior to the US`s entrance into the war) condemning Hitler and his actions.
