Some say it was one of the best presidential speeches ever. Got a bit Baptist preacher at times for me. Thoughts, I-A-B?

What`s Romney`s plan besides blaming Obama and saying he can make everything better with his magic underpants on? OutWest, Open your eyes man. Your party does not represent you.

What`s Obama`s plan besides raise taxes? He can`t even get a yes vote for his budget from his own party?

I`ll be honest and admit that I haven`t thoroughly followed this election, so I decided to give this speech and Romney`s speech a good listen. Based on these speeches alone, this is what I got:

Obama: "X X X X are important. This is how I`m going to address X X X X, and I hope you`ll vote for me so we can accomplish this together."

Romney: "Obama sucks, and this is why. Oh by the way, I guess I`m going to fix the country or something."

Obama made the point that Romney (and other republicans) like to say they`re going to fix the country but they never want to tell you their plan. I never really got a plan from Romney. I got a plan from Obama. Based on these speeches alone, I`d vote for Obama simply because he seems to be actually concerned about this country and not about the general public voting for what he thinks is a lesser candidate. I`d vote for Romney if he was less concerned with Obama and more concerned with America.

If I go by the audience shots from that video clip I would assume there are not many men in the Democratic party. Most shots were of women.

if you can read it`s because of socialism - stop throwing that word around like it`s a bad thing and next time you drive down a publicly owned road realize that it was socialism that built that.
Yes, he DID pull you back from a depression by printing bills - every learned economist will tell you that - are you an economist? are you in a catastrophic depression?
and re: bin laden - he made the call to go in there - your `comfy chair` argument is about as compelling as Clint Eastwood`s rambling chair conversation - maybe you`re off your meds too?
And the cost of extending healthcare, my friend, is better healthcare at less cost. look at the world around you and ask why Americans pay the most but get the worst results...oh, I forgot, you can`t look at the world around you...and THAT is one of the scariest thing about your right wing these days - willful blindness.

Pulled America from a depression? How by printing money and putting us 5 more TRILLION in debt? That is like saying I got out of debt by paying my bills off with my credit card...dumb...Killed Bin Laden? The navy Seals did that, while asshead was sitting on his comfy chair with his feet propped up. Extend healthcare to millions? At what cost? We have not even seen the full bill yet...Stay in Canada with your socialist agenda.

the thing he did was pull the States back from a Depression, kill bin Laden and his cronies, and extend healthcare to millions. this is the best president you`ve had since roosevelt, and you`re going to throw him out and put the fox in charge of the henhouse? i fear for the world in general and for the US especially if Romney wins this election.

Woah! Hold the f*cking phone here. Speech aside, Eugenius is a real person! WELL I`LL BE GODDAMNED!

Eugenius, (being sincere here), you`re one of the most valued contributors to the site! 1,538 approved links, member for 7 years, and yet you`ve only spoken up in comments 39 times. Astounding. As a Mod/Admin, I have to say a deep thank you (I hope you`re still reading this thread). You`ve contributed a hell of a lot of personal time to this site over many many years, and never come back to partake in the discussions.

Seriously, you`re an unselfish giver, man, and possibly one of the most dedicated I-A-Bers that there`s ever been. Your contribution is quiet, but critical. I salute you, and other submitters like you. A site like this lives or dies on the quality/quantity of user-submitted content.

Kudos, eugenius. Kudos.

Don`t ever underestimate the power of Bill Clinton. President Obama`s Gallup Job Approval went up 9 points the last three days to 52% Approval. It will be interesting to see what Obama`s speech did to the numbers once todays poll is reported.

Also in the Trial Heat between MItt and Obama, Obama`s numbers went up the day after Clinton`s speech to a 3% lead. those numbers flatlined during the RNC.

The Best? Only if you are a loyal Dem. Baptist preacher was a very good description of some of the delivery. It did sound a bit like a revival? But some have called him the new Messiah.

Average speech for Obama. Far from the best from a President. IMHO.

this guy has hardly done anything, things in general are no better than when he started but if you compare the way he is talked about and treated compared to bush its like polar opposite. bush sucked in many ways but cmon lets stop treating obama like he`s done something or is doing something that is more than sub par at best.

I second that, eugenius. Just get me thru this election without giving up and emigrating to Sweden and I can look forward to the NEXT Presidential election. This one`s a sham.

`It was an odd message. It was like, "We didn`t get there--you`re going to have to vote for me again for us to get there."`

That`s a fair assessment. I do think it`s valid to say that he managed to stop the bleeding and suture the wound. I have a lot of reservations with Obama but there are some key issues that have made me decide to vote for him again, and I`m hopeful that he will actually be able to grow our economy if the Republicans start compromising with him.

I could never vote for Romney. Never.

Oh I`m sure that the "some" who thought it was one of the best presidential speeches ever were DEMOCRATS and the media right? What a joke.

It was an odd message. It was like, "We didn`t get there--you`re going to have to vote for me again for us to get there."

Even one of the Democratic talking heads, the guy that hosts Hardball (or Fastball, not sure) said, "We`re doubling down on President Obama."

When I hear the words Double Down, I think--OK, not much happened in the first term, but stick with him one more time, let`s see how this president plays out.

In short, it doesn`t matter who wins. I`m looking towards Hillary Clinton in 2016.

It was good, but Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama set the bar awfully high.
