I`m against kids having sex, that`s the only thing.
Too many highschoolers having children, it`s just sad.

Well I, for one, want to legitimize my marriage to 18 wives and 6 concubines so, fu*k you people...

@AJ: Well Wikipedia describes ancient marriage, but "recorded history" basically means after writing was invented. Although I`m not entirely sure, I believe paintings or possibly graves with two people together would be evidence for marriage in prehistory. Christian involvement in marriage only began somewhere around the eighth century I believe.

Okay. Just checking. You`re probably right....

How do we know it pre-dates recorded history? Did someone record it?

@AJ: Marriage pre-dates recorded history, so yes, I`m sure.

"Marriage was here long before your religion."

Are you sure about that one?

I always figured that before hand, we kinda acted like primates. Alpha male taking the female he wishes, and the rest of the tribe pairing off randomly.

Marriage was here long before your religion. You don`t own the word, get over yourself.

The farthest I`ll go is that maybe the government should not call anything a marriage, but rather a civil union. Save the word marriage for those of us who believe it in our faith. Sorry, but I think a "marriage" is between a male and a female. For me it goes no further than a marriage between and man and woman is CLEARLY different than between same-sex partners. If you can`t see men and women CLEARLY have different plumbing then you got bigger problems than pushing the gay marriage issue. You might ask yourself why is does your definition of marriage trump mine?

I agree, the Gov`t should get out of the marriage business completely.
Less Gov`t = better Gov`t.

Marriage should`ve remained a private contract.
LGBTs get their marriage, polygamists get their, well, polygamy.

Love all the death talk.
The only person who has to forgive you at the end is yourself. I`ve been there and hope not to go back for quite some time. Not that dying on a table wasn`t a strange experiance. I`m a lot less afraid of death now than I was and still very much an athiest.
Although I do feel that death is different for everybody depending on many different factors.
Just some thoughts on the matter.

In the rare case that there is actually a heaven, admission would almost definitely depend on whether you were a nice person. And I`d love this to be true.
"OK, all you Christians that made others feel bad, and even drove some into depression and suicide, come with me. This is hell enjoy it.
Atheists, haha. You should see the look on your faces. Don`t worry though, those of you who were nice people and made others feel good, that get`s you into heaven. Go stand over there, by that multicultural group of people who made others enjoy their lives."

Not marriage?

OK, do you think people have the right to lie?
the answer is yes, you can`t really stop them

Do you think God knows the difference?
the answer is yes, you think this

Do you think it`s your job to know the difference?
the answer is no, you think it`s God`s job, it`s just a bonus that you are so righteous as to know, too

Do you think a relationship between a person and God is between them and God, alone?
the answer is yes, you think this. Besides, no one can tell you you`re not a Christian, right?

Do you think it`s your job to stop people from sinning?
the answer is no, we all have free will

So, if the state (separate from church, of course. Don`t forget how much you like this part) granted two people of the same sex the title of "married," even though you think it is sin and that your God knows the difference, it is not your job to stop them, right?

and before you get all huffy and

How about the bigots call it whatever they want? The constitution is the rule book of America, not that 2000yo fairy tale you call the Bible.

"Then call it a civil union, not a marriage."

I`ll put this into words that you can relate to AJ: Because a Civil Union is like the Lady Gaga Gaga pictures that were shopped to make her look fat. A marriage is like her actual thin and sexy self.

"Then call it a civil union, not a marriage."

Seperate but equal? That just sounds crazy enough to work AJ. And instead of calling them husband and wife they can be called buttbuddies!

A marriage licence is part of the state, not part of the church.

Civil Union -- yeah, sure. That`s the modern-day equivalent of telling black folks to ride in the back because `the front and the back get to the stop at the same time.` Nothing demeaning about that at all, is there?
