clearly taken out of context- There used to be a saying that was taken out of context from a play by Shakespeare, "First, kill all the lawyers". Updating that for today, it would be, "First, kill anybody connected to the media".

You`d think the blacks would be more sensitive to the idea of belonging to someone else.

I`m not comparing it to what a few whackjobs believe. I`m pointing out that we do belong to our government in the sense that it is made up of us.

"A government of the people, by the people, and for the people."

Abraham Lincoln, Republican

What a socialist.

chalket, did you watch the entire video?
The guy about two-thirds through directly said that he doesn`t mind being OWNED by the government. Not just belong to the government, f`ing OWNED by the government.

I`ll give most of these people the benefit of the doubt and say that they are saying that they are a part of the government, which, in my opinion is not good enough. BE the government, not just a part of it. Get involved and hold your representative accountable for their actions.

OK - I can understand the defense that most of these people were suggesting that they "belong to" the government as in they are a part of the government.

However, the guy @1:39 clearly states that he is talking about ownership and that he is fine being owned.

It is frightening that somebody would be so willing to forego individual liberties for temporary security. Unfortunately, as a society, we`ve become concerned with how policy affects us while we neglect the effects on our fellow citizens. It is just as righteous to defend the liberties of your fellow citizen as it is to defend your own.

This is why I defend the minorities: the rich, the business owners, the LGBT community, and the freedom of choice crowd. To penalize the rich because we benefit from it is tyranny; it is sinful. We have no right to charge them more.

belonging to the gov is a reference to "WE THE PEOPLE".

of course republicans will try and twist the crap out of anything to make it something that it is not.

republicans, I generally dislike both major political parties but of the two, you are clearly the bigger dcks.

`You lib-tards would be funny if you weren`t so scary`

It really bugs me when people talk this way. There are people who use these sorts of words on the Left as well. I may be liberal, but I never resort to derogatory names for people on the Right. There is political opposition in this country for a reason: it keeps the other side in check.

At first I thought it was out of context, oh they don`t really mean belong like the government owning them like property....then that`s exactly what one guy said o_0

The government belongs to the people.

Uh... as far as I understand it, in the U.S. we ARE the government. Basically, the politicians are supposed to do OUR bidding, not the other way around...

Yeah, I know, that`s the concept, not the reality.

Liberal Idiot #1-"The government should be able to take care of us."

THAT`S NOT THE GOVERNMENT`S JOB!

Not a free, responsible citizen was interviewed that day.

As the guy said at 4:40: Yes, these sheep are owned.

I, the individual citizen, and all of you legal American Citizens are the very source of any authority the government has. As such we have accepted the definition of the government`s powers handed to us from our ancestors and edited that definition as we have seen fit.

I do not belong to the government, the government belongs to me. When I disapprove of what it has done or is attempting to do, it is my responsibility to correct its course as the proper owner of that government.

The difficulty in this comes with the inherent joint ownership of the government that is shared with my fellow citizens. If we fail to meet this challenge together, the creation will take over the creator and must either be obeyed or destroyed.

The sheople of the DNC apparently have chosen to become property of the government, re-instating slavery through their own will to be enslaved.

The government isn`t a community... WTF.

It`s comprised of elected officials who work FOR US. This poo is scary!

They must be getting pretty freaking desperate stooping to this type of disingenuous poo-stirring!

"Verb phrase `belong to`:
a. to be the property of: The book belongs to her.
b. to be a part or adjunct of: That cover belongs to this jar.

Why does this interviewer consciously choose the WRONG definition of "belong?" It is obvious that these convention attendees know they are referring to definition B: "to be a part or adjunct of" yet this asshat seems to think he has some "revealing" smoking gun admission? Gimme a break.

Oh yeah, to answer the question... YES, I do belong to my government, just as it belongs to me.
