FREEDOM OF MOTHER DUCKING SPEECH!

Okay, I`ll admit that there`s hypocrisy in the administration making their announcement during the Muslim Extremists riots and not during South Park episodes. However, that said, a) is that what American Christians reckon they should measure up to? Muslim extremists in the Middle East? Wow!, and, b) I`d rather the government stay COMPLETELY OUT of religion. I wish they`d never have made that announcement and simply spoke about free speech being an American tenant and its responsible use being something we should all strive for. Religion is poison.

If you don`t see South Park making fun of Christians, you`ve never watched South Park.

The very first "pilot" that became the idea for South Park was Jesus vs Frosty. Jesus is in several episodes. There was a two parter, Part 1: "Do the Handicap go to Hell?", Part 2: "yes." about Timmy not being able to perform the verbal requirements to get into heaven. I`d say Christianity, several denominations of Christianity, have been made fun of in probably half of the episodes over the years.

Well stated, indeed. Unfortunately, the "better person" is increasingly defined as the one with the most money.

@markust "Christianity is supposed to be about rising up and being a better person, not being better than that person"

Well stated.

Religious nuts have had free reign on trying to lay the smack down on non believers for many many years, they really need to shut up and stop watching the nasty programmes that offend them.

I`m sorry but if your religion judges and discriminates you can not pretend to be the victim. Christianity is supposed to be about rising up and being a better person, not being better than that person.

yeah, condemn those blasphemers, we don`t need frredom of speech! Someone may say something we don`t like! But then, christians don`t get to say anything about science either, ok?

@Ollie: While I actually think this Starnes guy has a point, the whole condemnation thing was more just damage control to try to protect Americans and American soldiers abroad. They are usually the ones who suffer for films like this. I`m sure if Christians were rioting over an episode of South Park, then that episode would receive condemnation as well.

Like any other TV program, if you don`t like it, don`t watch it.

@davymid - Al-Qaeda is to Islam as Westboro Basptist Church is to Christendom.

I will never stop laughing at this most egregious comparison error. I don`t know what is more funny, the overemphasis on WBCs pathetic significance or the underemphasis of the thousands of lives destroyed by al-Qaeda. Weird guy.
Second, I think he was pointing out the hypocrisy of the Obama administration jumping all over an insult to Islam while completely ignoring much worse and much more frequent insults to Christianity. On that he has a perfectly legitimate point. The reason that nobody cares when Christians are insulted is that they don`t riot like insane barbarians.
Here is an interesting article about the direction the Egyptian government is taking. This is a government elected democratically. That is, by a lot of people (as opposed to that "tiny percentage" we always here about).

Davymid, seriously. Wow. How many people has Westboro Baptist killed?

And most of the Muslims going ape$hit are not Al Qaeda, just your run-of-the-mill Authoritarian-minded, anti-gay, ultra conservative, religious Muslims. I hate to break that to you. One of my good friends is a Muslim Sri Lankan girl. She is going to be forced into a marriage after she completes her Masters. Her dad in UAE is a rather radical Islamic banker. If he were Christian, you would have a hernia.

How many Christians commit honor killings because their daughter wore a skirt? It`s been happening in the West a lot recently.

And seriously, you think that the Protestant-Catholic conflict in Ireland is more deadly than the Sunni-Shia conflict? Have you read about the Iraq and Syria conflicts?

Nothing applies to any population 100%. Hitler didn`t even need 50%. But fun fact, last time Egypt invaded Israel, their soldiers carried a copies of Mein Kampf.

Americans need to get out more.

I`ve visited Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, Oman, Yemen, Bahrain, the UAE, Iraq and Iran. Never once did anyone try to kill me, those pesky Muslims.

Yet I ran the gauntlet every day going to school in Northern Ireland, that I might be murdered by a car-bomb for being slightly the wrong flavour of Christian.

Al-Qaeda is to Islam as Westboro Basptist Church is to Christendom. We`ve all got our headbangers. To claim that all Muslims are the same is deeply retarded.

I urge you guys to get out and see it yourselves. Crakrjak, OldOllie, MeGrendel, whoever. Those guys are pretty cool, I promise. I`ve been there. They didn`t try to kill me, in fact they did their damndest to feed me.

Surely that`s fair? From a guy who`s been there?

"The reason that nobody cares when Christians are insulted is that they don`t riot like insane barbarians."

Yeah. Well, at least in America, now. See: Crusades.

Some people may not know but Mohamed was actually a powerful conqueror. It is not surprising that his religion has adherents who believe in faith-by-fire.

I’m just saying, War is in Christian and Muslim DNA, neither has clean hands.

And you cannot complain of “unfair treatment” when you are the majority of a people. It is simply a laughable argument that Christians need government protection. They are well represented, their institutions have shaped the development of this country more so than any other. Every single President has been a Christian (*psst* - except the black guy wink wink).

"War on Christmas" my f*cking as$hole. This is America. We`re all allowed to say "you`re full of $hit."

Christianity is a fraud.
Islam is a lie.
Judaism is false.

There is no god.

A more secular world, is a more peaceful world. Forsake religion, embrace the ideals of Secular Humanism.

First, I watch Fox News quite a bit, and I`ve never even heard of this Todd Starnes character. It turns out he`s on Fox News Radio.

It amazes me when a wealthy white man squawks about his faith in Christ. "It is far easier for a Camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to pass through the gates of heaven."-JC (allegedly) screw all you religious idiots.

Well, to be fair Andrew, the Scientology episode did cause the loss of Chef because, let`s face it, Scientologists are also humorless. Unless it`s Tom Cruise being batpoo crazy.

All I can say is you should treat everyone equally, with the same protection, rights and freedoms. Either everyone can do it, or no one can, pick one. We should be well past the point of certain groups getting special treatment over others.

If religious organizations are going to be tax-exempt, the least we should be able to do is make a few jokes about them.

While true, Andrew, he does make the ridiculous comment "these stories, I mean they`re stacked up on my desk now, the numbers of, the instances of people who are facing attack because of their faith in Jesus Christ."

.....HAHAHA. The internet age is a particularly amusing one. When you can call some 4chan troll posting on your facebook about how you`re a "noob" because you believe in some fairy tale an ATTACK... Hahaha, cool story bro.

Let`s denigrate all false religions. Only false religions. True religions based on an actual God are to be left alone. Examples:

a. none
b. none
c. none
d. none of the above

turn the other cheek, no?...i`ll admit it`s a horrible stance for conflict resolution, particularly if you represent a group of people over something that actually matters (like human rights, working conditions, oppression...not so much getting your feelings hurt),but hey, it`s part of the creed right?

Andrew155 said EXACTLY what I always tell people when discussing this topic. South Park and countless other TV shows, many of which I love, constantly mock every religion you can think of and it`s never a problem until someone starts talking sh*t about muslims. Then it`s suddenly no longer funny, or insensitive or whatever the f*ck you want to call it. The problem is that muslims don`t have a sense of humor and they`re attention whores.

Sadly, I think he`s right. If it`s wrong to denigrate one, It`s wrong to denigrate them all. Although, on the flip side, I firmly believe in blasphemy against religions. I blaspheme several times before breakfast. In fact, I`m blaspheming as I write this.
If a religion can`t stand the dark of ridicule, then it can`t stand the light of reason and doesn`t deserve our respect.

I`ve never heard of Ted Starnes and I thought I was pretty well versed not the big names of the major news networks. I even know who Greg Gutfeld is.

BUT....anyone who watches this video and makes the conclusion that he thinks South Park should be under Federal investigation for blasphemy is a real intellectual lightweight. Why? Because he clearly doesn`t call for one, it`s pretty simple. He`s just stating that society has different standards for which faiths you`re allowed to criticize. Nobody will get their panties in a bunch if you criticize Christianity, but if you criticize Islam you are an insensitive, racist Islamophobe. And a bunch of Muslims will kill each other a few thousand miles away.

South Park (which I fracking love) has denigrated so many faiths. Nobody died. The only one that caused a major ruckus was the Islam one. Their Mormon one is a fracking Broadway play now. I would like to see "The Book of Islam" on Broadway!
