Unless you like really gross things like maggots in eye sockets, if so, then proceed. You were warned. Graphic.

My girlfriend, who is a nurse, was telling me of ER horror stories like this (even thought this one seems to be done for medical purposes). She said a senior nurse told her she once know of a patient who had maggots in her vagina. The story goes that the patient and her boyfriend were camping and needed lube to have sex, so they used cream cheese. She ended up having flies lay eggs in her vagina during that night. I don`t know if I believe this or not, because for one, I`ve never heard of a vagina being that dry to where you needed lube THAT bad, but also, who in their right mind would use cream cheese?!?

Medicinal grade maggots.
They only eat dead tissue, not healthy tissue.
They`re very effective for cleaning burns, etc.

Still gross though.

Using Maggots In Hospitals For Wound Care

A new generation of physicians believe maggots are one of the most effective ways of treating wounds infected by the superbug methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

It may sound gruesome, but it turns out that maggots are remarkably efficient at cleaning up infected wounds by eating dead tissue and killing off bacteria that could block the healing process.

Maggot medicine, in fact, has a long history. Napoleon`s battle surgeon wrote of the healing powers of maggots 200 years ago, and they were put to work during the American Civil War and in the trenches in World War One.

@DingDingDong As stated in the third sentence of the wiki page you linked, the maggots will eat both healthy and dead tissue.

They are surgical maggots. They only eat the rotten flesh:

those are probably medicinal maggots. She probably had an infection and doctors chose to use maggots to clear it up
