Uh, no, it`s not about rape per se. It`s about the GOP trying to outlaw common methods of birth control and abortion under all circumstances. Oh, and possibly all IVF methods for people who actually WANT to get pregnant but can`t naturally.

And I assume that once a man and a woman are married he should get her drowned as quickly as possible as it is a natural and wonderful thing to do with your wife.....nice!

I agree with this. All of the animal kingdom manages to survive. Humans are so stupid that we need things like flotation devices. Life has inherent risks.

Bit harsh comparing getting pregnant to drowning.

Not really sure where I stand on the abortion thing. I do think that it`s a woman`s choice whether or not to have a baby, but I think abortion is overused. I think people should use condoms more and consider adoption if they feel they couldn`t take care of a baby. I know the care system isn`t the greatest place to grow up in, but at least they get a chance at life.

"and yet it is a prefect example of GOP logic."

No. No. No. The GOP is full of idiots, but this is hyperbolic. I love the first part. It is spot on parody. The next two sections are dumb. Comparing a baby to death is moronic.

Should we ban fire extinguishers too? If my house burns down due to a crazy arsonist, I`ll be fine, right?

...so...I guess the point of this post is we should all get free life jackets from the government, and raise taxes on the rich pay for them, right?

Jeezuz, people, this is a PARODY, a SATIRICAL piece that compares life jackets to birth control, abortion prohibition to drowning, and a certain ignorant politician`s take on rape to being shoved in the water. It is not a serious anti-life jacket ad.
Gawd some of you are dense.

I`d say that would be a great idea if we all lived in boats and some of us are too poor to afford life jackets and therefore drown regularly.
Although the difference here is that if poor people drowned, that would kind of end the poor people problem by reducing them. When poor people have babies that creates MORE poor people, so that`s kind of the opposite effect.

i think the argument shouldnt be wether the goverment should pay for abortian or birth controll or not. I am totaly ok with them not paying for it. But the argument is and should alwayw be wether it is allouwed to be used.
It is rather shamefull that a group of people who believe something make sure that the group of people that dont believe the same thing, still live by their set of principles. Up to a certain level that is good, but beyond that, it comes down to enforcing their will and religion.

Then again, this happens mostly in the free U.S.A. and in the restrictive Muslim countries. guess they arent that different in everything then.

This metaphor is effective because it really puts into the light how f`ing retarded the religious right`s arguments really are (and by extension, the rest of the republicans).
